Hi Christie. We had a family emergency in the last half of 2022 which is why I’ve not posted new content recently. I am however planning to start recording new material very soon so keep an eye out for that. Kind regards. Gary

Morning. Love your videos. They are really informative to me. Where do you get your scaffold netting from? Thank you.
@TheAllotmentGardenandKitchen
Thank you very much for your comment which is greatly appreciated. I’m really pleased you enjoy my videos. I purchased my scaffold (debris) netting online a few years ago from Amazon. I ordered a 50 metre roll but I can’t remember how much I paid for it, however it works out to be really good value for money as I use it over and over again. Kind regards. Gary

Hi question how do you get self blanching celery to tun whit at the bottom cause I can’t get mine to tun white at the bottom no matter what I do.
@TheAllotmentGardenandKitchen
Thank you very much for your question Jennifer which is greatly appreciated. I absolutely love celery which is one of my favourite veg. Self-blanching celery is a type of celery that naturally tends to be less green at the base of the stalks compared to traditional green celery varieties. However, if you want to encourage even more whiteness at the bottom of your self-blanching celery, you can try the following tips: Hilling: This involves gradually adding soil around the base of the celery plants as they grow. By covering the lower part of the stalks with soil, you block sunlight from reaching them, which promotes blanching. Be careful not to cover the heart of the plant, as this can inhibit growth. Using Collars: Place collars or cylindrical objects (like cardboard or plastic) around the base of the celery to block sunlight. These can be secured around the stalks to shield them from direct light. Tying the Stalks: You can also tie the outer stalks together loosely with twine or rubber bands to keep them close and prevent sunlight from penetrating between them. Selective Harvesting: Harvest the outer stalks once they reach the desired size and blanching level, allowing the inner stalks to continue growing and blanching. I hope this helps and kind regards. Gary
