I am growing some sweet beans and they all started to have blighted leaves like my tomato's. One web commentator said they might be short on Supfur, so I put my Blueberry's elemental Sulfur down and the new growth is all clear of blight. Perhaps hay/mulch gardens can be low on Sulfur. Put some under my potted capsicum and bullocks heart tomato as their leaves were blighting too. And the new leaves there are solid green now too!

Oh wow. I'm not too far from yourself ... out in Ipswich but we drop quite a bit here. We'll definitely start getting frosty nights heading into winter and if Stanthorpe have copped a cold day, we feel it here. My poor basil almost had a heart attack a few weeks ago but I got him inside in time. 😁 Other than that, I've got the rest of the herbs ready with framed frost/wind protection setup. 👍🌿

I have a pea recommendation. We grow a few of the traditional peas in our spring and fall but the one that we love to grow in the spring is called "Wando". It is a heat tolerant variety that we are able to grow into a bit of our summer extending our pea harvest for a bit longer. We live in central Georgia in the States and have a wicked long summer season but those Wando will grow for a good 3-6 weeks longer than the traditional peas. Love your videos, wife giggles at me each time she hears your intro. God Bless

All growing amazingly vigorously. Love the range of plants you've got going and it's a great testiment to how easy it is to grow a decent range of food plants over this time. Inspiring stuff. Keep up the videos, loving it. It's great to see my friends trying their hand at doing a little growing themselves and I have shared these videos with them to also inspire them. Here in America's south-east sounds like we have a similar climate, only difference is you have an Ocean between you and Antarctica which is a weather moderator, while we have a huge Canadian landmass between us and the Arctic which is a big cold collector and produces fast moving cold fronts, which produces hard frost (we call them Alberta Clippers, which also makes us the Tornado Capital of the world in the Summer).

At winter we cant grow as much as you. Over here in the Netherlands frost hits often and it almost rains the whole season none stop. I found that strawberries now tend to stay green and grow more leaves (that helps to make more fruit), I also grow garlic and onions. I am gonna try to grow potatoes too this winter. Since that potato plant of mine is more drought tolerant than all weeds, so maybe it’s also cold tolerant

I'm further north of you, so I'm still growing cucumbers & squash. They prefer this time of year to fruit in my area, due to cooler consistent temps. Our summer 45°C+ temps really knock most annuals. Perennials do better in my summer temps. Some annuals like Eyptian spinach do great, but most don't. Cucumbers & squash will produce until coldest time (July-August), then continue afterwards, until heat comes back.

rocotos will do well in the cold. I grow them here in Tas and they do well over the winter but you do need to cover them if you get frost. they'll survive it but they don't like it much. if they do get frost burn I just leave the damaged parts on to protect the bush until frosts are over and then cut. Once the plants are established they will fruit most of the year but they you need to keep their roots moist and cool. Mine are huge, around two metres by two metres. I cut them right back down to small plants at the end of winter and they will explode with growth. they live for about 15 years

Hi Mark ... We live on the Northside of Brisbane and we have grown Choko’s in our backyard garden for years ... but when you plant a Choko from the fruit it’s best to lay the fruit on it’s flat side (horizontal) and half bury it as the vine and roots emerge from the same end ... vine of course grows up and the roots grow down .., we leave the fruit on the kitchen bench to grow the vine about 6” to a foot high and then plant it. ... we have found the White variety difficult to get but we just got 3 White Choko’s from a friend in Cairns so here’s hoping ... but Choko’s are very hardy and I am sure yours will grow well ... Choko’s are a great vegetable to grow and although they can be bland by themselves but they take on the flavour of whatever you are cooking ... a bit of trivia...in the war when pears were scarce the canneries use to preserve the Choko as tinned Pears and nobody knew the difference until they got caught ... anyway they are a great vegetable to grow and the White variety is a little milder and slightly sweeter to taste. Love your channel and we get a lot of hints and great info from your videos. Thanks

I’ve been growing chokos for a couple of years and I can definitely assure you those chokos will grow massively (the plant it self can actually be *really* big and really invasive so be careful, it’s gotten to the point they need there own special area or garden bed) after a few months, I’ve had them fruit during all times of the year (all they need is a heavy rain or a constant supply of water) and will climb up any structure and can get really heavy to the point of snapping thick tree branches. I also live in a sub tropical climate in Australia if this helps

I have lived right next door in Maroochydore and your winter is in many ways similar to your summer, maybe early summer to be exact. Maybe some days it gets hotter during our summer, especially if it's a hot summer and night time temps don't usually get under +10. But I have grown zucchini and corn even during cool wet summers that are more like your winter. You might want to think outside to box and use something black as ground cover that you can remove once temps pick up. I use black plastic and it really makes difference. Also growing tomatoes is easy outdoors although cold tolerant varieties might be the way to go. Also trialing with peppers outdoors. They are maybe slightly less vigorous, but they also grow fast once they get going.

I'm trying to grow a few veggies in pots in my apartment. My onion plant, which self-sprouted, hasn't been looking good. Went to a garden center today and got some blood meal fertilizer. Opened that bag up and WOW, the smell about knocked me over. 😆 Let's see how the onion likes it.

We grow the white Japanese turnips (Hakurei). They are excellent raw, sliced as crudités or browned in olive oil and then braised with a few of the greens. One of our favorite vegetables. I’m in Southern California (zone 10a) and our temperatures are about the same as yours although in opposite seasons. And quite a bit drier in terms of humidity. Average rainfall is about 15” (38 cm)/yr.

Great channel, 👍 im in the process of building more planter boxes to increase our vegetables crops, as the covid19 has driven up the cost at the supermarkets here in Canada, $5 for a small collie flower, and most of the vegetables aren’t even fresh anymore. I appreciate all your tips and techniques, keep safe and see you in the next show.
