they got starters of champions league and europa leagues team. their best player minamino and best striker furuhashi who starts for celtics every game were just chilling on the bench. we are not as talented as we think we are. their midfielder endo is who we thought tyler adams is, the gulf in class between two of them sum it up for us. technically and tactically we are nowhere near them
No. Tell these pundits here where and how did the recruites get their credentials ? Today's John Brooks is no match at the back against any of the world class Japanese players on or off the Japanese bench who are a team effort, this world class "team" didn't get the edge solely in the Bundesliga. Let that sink in there is no cutting corners yall 😶 emotional.
Hey Ian, Mike, Nigel, James -- we need you to break down the obvious: Americans don't play soccer well at a high level because their early playing years are fundamentally flawed by poor coaching. They never learned the strategy of the game properly and it shows. Two basic points: (1) On defense American players ball-watch incessantly which creates easy offensive opportunities for teams like Japan, who know how to finish. (2) On offense, American players don't move early enough to get open for passes. Until the U.S. produces players that understanding these two fundamentals, despite reasonable skill levels and athleticism, the U.S. won't advance in international tournaments where you must understand strategy and tactics to win. You have to know "how to play the game." Commentary: So, Japan's first goal is really not caused by a giveaway, but because Zimmerman fails to mark the eventual scorer. A half-second before the goal, all three U.S players are closing on the ball and the winger is like "this is my lucky day!" Center FW plays the ball to open man who slots it home easy-peasy. BALL-WATCHING. Lack of awareness. We have three players all watching the ball at the edge of the 18 and no one marking the scorer. On offense, our players are fast, but at this level, so is everyone else. You can't just play kick and run, and "creative" offense is a consequence of understanding how that works, and our players don't. Again, our players are all watching the ball when they should be cutting left/right diagonally making space, exploiting space, feinting this way and that to produce the trickery necessary to make chances for oneself. They don't really play together in this way and it shows. They don't "knock the ball around". They wait until the defenses get set which is a bad idea at this level, unless you are Real Madrid. Lastly, I don't think any of this is really on the shoulders of the players. They simply were taught early on that soccer is mostly a game of kick and run, occasional skill, athleticism and chance. They never really grew out of this model as mature players, which is not uncommon. People tend to do what they did early in life and stick to it, no matter what.
@@fisterhr stop trying to justify putting MLS players on the team. That combination of Zimmerman-Long pretty showed what everyone was expecting. Even Ferreira, with all his MLS goals, showed his lack of performance when playing with the big boys. Beerholder has to make a crucial decision. Continue to include MLS players (to fulfill the MLS quota) and finish dead last in WC group, or play really the best we have, even the ones he continues not to include on the team to give the USMNT the chance it deserves to do well in the WC
@@yddubbud8229 there is definitely an MLS quota there and it is hurting the team. They don't play at a high level and they can't keep up with the European based players. To be fair though, Zimmerman isn't too bad, but he's the exception. The rest simply don't belong there. My prediction, USA will finish last in the group. And the worst part is that Berhalter won't get sacked. You know why? Because he will continue to do what they want, to promote a low level mediocre league.
No matter if USA has a golden generation or not, it doesn't matter if our manager and coaching staff isn't up to par and if they aren't calling up our best players in our player pool.
Brooks, Ream, and Pefok need phone calls asap!!!! I've been saying for months Walker and Aaron "Are not prepare for the train that is Harry Kane." I've said since we found out our group. Defensively they are horrible.
@@fisterhr ... Frankly there is not much difference between MLS players and the other jokers, at least I have not seen any in a number of years!! 😂 😂 😂
@@fisterhr i thought you were going to make a Long pun LMAO. Long has been awful since his injury. If brooks isnt called in for wc, I dont see us winning a game
Obviously USMNT cannot keep the pace which usually means some of the players are not up to the standards of modern soccer. Most of the Japanese players are in the Euro and several of them are key players and are very accustomed to fast pace of game in both attack and defense. Their defense line are quite good(has both speed and height but a little bit aged) and their midfield are semi-world class(Endo and Morita are beasts and very underrated worldwide) while their weakest link is their finish line due to their uncreative coach. Japan has been always unable capitalize the chances created for over 30 years. If they have some great finisher like Harry Kane or Lewandowski, Japan can easily reach top 8 or even top 4.
@@Vickzq You made a point and I partly agree with you. But Japan has been in history especially unable to capitalize the chances they have created and maybe a 75% Inzaghi can help them to close that gap. Furuhashi shows some hope by his performance in Celtic but he has no chemistry in Japanese national team. Japanese coach has no talent in creating a reasonable/smooth attacking plan.
according to these guys the players are overrated and they're to blame for this performance not a single mention about coach's tactics and decisions, maybe they'll get in trouble
@@fisterhr terrible tactician continually plays into decent coaches hands, persistent with his so called "system" that hasn't shown to work, excluding players bc of this so called system. trying to play out of the back with centerbacks that can't do that refusing to call up centerbacks that CAN play out of the back bc of his so called system, playing players in positions that aren't their best for example Reyna as winger de la torre out wide when he's best central Aaronson is also better central Ferreira as striker when he's best as a 10 trying to play mckennie and Adams as creative midfielders, in game management is bad, when one plan isn't working change it during the game don't try it the whole 90, when we're down a goal in the game brings out players that are contributing to the attack n brings in players who kill attack like Morris or Ariola. Even if people don't agree that he's a bad coach, ALL your players playing worse for country than they do for their clubs says everything
I say this as a USMNT fanboy it’s gonna take until the next World Cup cycle to see if we get to a 5th game ourselves. I hope I’m wrong but I can see this being 2006 all over again and we don’t get out of group. People take that Iran game as a gimme I’m not so sure.
@@pabis6817 I hope I’m wrong but I think with this cycle it’s too late, let’s just hope they fire Greg after word cup and bring someone new and a new system. Who can coach and what system I’m not sure but we need a new play style
@@greenraider44 I hope he is taken hostage until after the World Cup and cannot coach or make his ridiculous player selections and just about any scrub with top level coaching experience could take the helm and do better than beerholder.
I agree on that Pefok is the best option the US have but don’t let you fool by his numbers and expect him to put up that numbers in the USMNT. Union Berlin is playing with two striker upfront and his teammate upfront is Becker and he is the one that make Pefok look good. Yes Pefok does have 3 goals and 2 assists in 6 games but Becker does have 6 goals and 4 assists in 7. My point is the USMNT does neither have a Sheraldo Becker nor an Urs Fischer.
If Japan were to play Mexico now, the odds of Japan winning would be higher. If we play at home in Japan, we can beat Portugal and Holland. Japan and him are not that different in ability. It's not that Japan is strong, but that she's not that strong of the world's powerhouses. Japan drew with Brazil. Japan conceded one point from a penalty kick, but the decision was wrong.
I wish foreign fans knew that there are American fans who despised the propaganda "Golden Generation". I've been upset for months this team has been acting like they're the ish. Please.
Exactly what i always tried to say, they hyped the team too much and they risk to ruin it, these are good young players but they still got a lot of work to do, this isn’t any golden generation, it will be when every single player will be a constant starter every season.
Set up to play balanced, not only possession play out of the back approach. We can’t really play press either. We don’t have enough players who are skilled enough to play possession or press. But we are good. Hustle, play defense, hit on counter/set plays.
Waoooooo Everybody is on the youtube post cast today..but anyway The japan coach pretty much told japan players to play angry against the great USMT players cauze japan already knew how good united states roster look n they came with everything on USMT
There's no weak team on modern futbol, USA is good team but they think the other countries haven't improve. USA has improve a lot in the last years but not only USA
Lol. These England guys are loving this bc England has been losing to Hungary and Italy and are under-performing. But they are right about Berhalter, Zimmerman and Long. The MLS is our domestic league. It's not an international league. We compare ourselves to Liga MX. Another domestic league.
It is interesting if the US beats a good team in a friendly, it didn’t matter. If the US loses in a friendly they are terrible! That being said Long, Zimmerman and Berhalter have no business going to Qatar! Also shut up Nigel.
Trash manager that's why. His tactics are predictable and easily countered. His player selection is terrible and he values his "system" fit above actual talent.
all ggg knows is MLS that's also a reason he keep calling these bums up. GGG just needs to get it thru his head. The players are the stars. NOt his f**** system.
this record will end in novemember. And if it doesn't, it's all on England, not on USA which I still consider frauds in football (the real football, not the garbage "sport" that they call football)
Bro u need to stop cause this os golden generation of they can realize who they r. Anybody can loss a game when u underrate anybody or any tea. United statez is a better roster n team but underrated japan n loss
@@gule55 Champions of Asia are Japan, the afc final against Qatar was a fucking robbery in plain sight, Qatar won the game with the referee gifting em everything and scoring a goal with a non existent penalty. And the final was also played 3 years ago, right now japan would smash Qatar at least 7-0..
