People don't realize it was in Canada, and the distances were immense. Mountain ranges, multiple, with passes high enough to shorten the breathing, -40° temperatures. Zero roads, few ways to access. Definitely NOT something for the people who thought they could just get there quickly.

No thanks. 3 day canoe trip with portages was enough for me. And Ive refuse to sleep in a tent without an air mattress ever since.
