In this cutscene, Zavala gives into temptation and decides to commune with the Witness. The witness talks about how he can give him what he wants by trusting him and allowing himself to envelope in the Darkness. However, at the last second Zavala's ghost Targe swoops in to save him before exploding in light allowing Ikora, Cayde, and Crow to pull him out. (Yes, Targe is dead meaning that Zavala is now lightless)

hate how every cut scene features every other charecter but the players since when are the npcs the main charecters?

To be fair they did way more work on our characters' cut scenes than any other expansions, even our characters' facial expressions are drastically improved if you take the helmets off no joke!

For 4K cutscenes like this one, it makes sense why our guardian isn’t in it. If they had to account for the billions of cosmetic combinations, character models, weapons, and more just to make them load in the cutscene, this would’ve never been released.

Its not possible to add our character to pre rendered cutscenes that cost a LOT of money to make anyways. They would have to make a separate video for every single combination of cosmetics, we're talking millions of versions of a single video file
