Wow Sweet Talk, childhood memory leh!! Also Cold Rock. Actually Sweet Talk still exists I think Hougang Ave 4 beside the Hair Salon not sure about elsewhere
Who else's first bbt is the one at night market with the doll vigorously shaking on the machine before any brands, not even OverTime -- the first brand brought into SG by 苏永康. Back then my mom was complaining the drink is so ex for night market standard...
Regular milk tea with Assam or Oolong, low sugar, little ice, black pearls. Still my favorite as long as the tea taste is really present. I started venturing out though. xD
Some random chinese drink store opposite burlington square... $1 only (18-20 years ago)...my favourite was peppermint milk tea (also can order hot), abit dilute but still good taste, the black pearls were damn soft. Whole thing wasn't that sweet because the pearls were just chewy and wasn't soaked in syrup. I also had KOI when it first came to singapore (before bbt truly blew up), went to CHS nearby so it was easy to get, $3.5 large cup RIP.
Everybody here said Sweettalk obviously you guys are too young. Auntie here. Anyway the first flow of bubble tea when it was introduced was in the early 90s. I was 15, 16. Me and girlfriends from the west took a bus to Marina Square just to taste this at this amazing cafe we heard about. And you know how much allowance we had. Although it was only costs $6.90, now we close eyes, then ex leh! We had to share 2 cups, I couldnt remember what drinks we ordered. there were 4 of us. Then we let out an urban legend that those pearls have magical whitening, moisturizing ingredients that will make our skins tighten. Years later when I found out what those pearls are made of, I was like how gullible can we be?
