The best way to get that lock working would be to spray MORE WD40 in it.

WD40 worked for my key hole. I used it once and for over 10 years it's still working great.

I have NEVER seen ANY lubricant do that to a cylinder in my life! If you are happy with what you are using keep using it, it’s YOUR job, nobody else’s. But always keep an open mind. Very disappointed in you for ‘setting up that modified’ cylinder to act that way. Why???

Regular WD40 is great in locks. After YEARS, you might have to swish the lock out in mineral spirits to clean it. I don't see what the fuss is about. People act as if their lock is instantly ruined if WD40 is sprayed into it which is nonsense.

Powdered graphite lubricant is the safest bet for locks.

Mike Elbow .. it’s better than KY?

Mike Elbow .. yeah but who has powdered graphite ? Is Fred Flintstone your next door neighbour? I have WD40 and it works wonders even on my car hinges and locks , I noticed after a while I don’t need to spray again for a while .. the metals seem to be coated with a protective layer that lasts and lasts and repels all dust and any dust that lays on the surface after many months is easily washed off my car hinges .. yep I wash my cars 2 or 3 times per year

In Northern Michigan, outdoor locks get rain and environmental moisture. A Comedy of Errors almost ruined a potential awesome weekend: We bought property with an old cabin on it 5 years ago. Our first winter, in January, with about 10" of snow on the ground, we were almost locked out late one Friday night. Our low to the ground AWD family sedan got stuck in our short driveway before we got to the gate. Our cabin is still about 600 yards from the other side of the gate. The air temp was in the teen's and it's 18 crow miles from civilization. We had to break in our BOL to survive the night. The freezable combination locks on the gates were replaced with disc locks with weep holes. The solution is to use steel disc locks with weep holes. First hit the lock with a propane torch to defrost, then hit it with a blast of WD40 to displace the water. It opens right up. We have not been locked out since.
