When we got our kitchen redone I seriously considered the AGA. The learning curve on how to use it is steep but so worthwhile, especially in winter since it does double duty as a heater. But this extra heat in the summer and the high cost of running the AGA are what convinced us to go with induction instead. It’s so nice to see this oven in action, though, and imagine how I would have used it. Thanks for the great recipe ideas.

I admire watching your family your way of living your cooking from scratch, carrying for your family to be nourished. Not many women decide to devote themselves to homemaking applause make God bless you and your family. Besides everything else you’re homeschooling your children, which is great may God bless you Abundantly I was always timid when it came to yogurt making but your recipe seemed like very easy. I will definitely try it. Thanks again.

Hi, I’m in England and I have an Aga. I noticed when you’re cooking your eggs and grilled sandwiches, you use cast iron pans. You don’t need pans. Aga (and Amazon) sell a product called Bake-O-Glide which is a non stick mat that perfectly fits your simmering ring. You can cook your eggs and grilled sandwiches directly onto this. Crack an egg on it, close the lid and within a minute or two you have a perfectly cooked egg without using any fat, they’re delicious. You can cook toast and grilled sandwiches the same way plus lots of other things like pancakes, etc. I’ve had my Bake-O-Glide for eleven years and it’s still going strong.

Thanks for sharing!! We’ve heard this before but haven’t gone for it yet! The person we bought it from always said she used pans like normal so that’s what we’ve done too 🙃.

How is the oven powered? Just found y'all today and I have been watching all morning. I'm a grandma and my family live on a sixth generation farm. We live a similar lifestyle but not as in depth as you, however we are working towards a more self substanible future. I do the garden and preservation and a ton of everyday cooking. I also home school my grandson. I live across the road from my son and his family and I usually prepare breakfast and lunch for him and my grandchildren I also prepare dinner several times a week. First time seeing an oven like yours and I am amazed. Can't believe I have never heard of it before you are very lucky. What a beautiful family and life you have!!!

I have had a aga for years, people get very stressed about using them including my husband but they are so easy. You are missing a few tricks with your use of the aga. You have worked out that you loose heat if you have the tops open too long. You can steam your veggies in the aga too in the simmer oven, so you don’t need to have the top open for long. If you can get yourself a Aga book or look at some tutorials online I think it would help you. Love how your life is round the Aga, I love mine. ❤

My Aga hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m watching a lot of Aga cooking content. With the cooking plates on top losing heat, I see consistently that those with older models like yours try to cook everything they can on the floor of the ovens instead of on the top wherever possible. Apparently the floor of your roasting oven can behave just like a cooktop. But that’s not firsthand experience from me, so I could be wrong. Wonderful video, thank you xx

This is a good question and something I was concerned about before we got it too. It hasn't been an issue! The burners are quite large so there has been times when I have 2 smaller saucepans on one burner at the same time. Otherwise, I usually only have things on the plates on top for a short time and then to keep warm ill transfer it to the slow cooking or warming oven. Hope that helps answer your question!

Venting with windows and fans, excellent heat dissipation. planning helps too, imagine nice skylight for natural lighting and ventilation. In the day we had a screened porch for canning cooking in summer (still very hot in humid south). I use a Burns Milwaukee Solar Oven with great summer cooking success. This is becoming a favorite channel. Reminds me of Jane Shuttleworth - Mother Earth News - In Action!

How did you afford your stove? I have shopped for them and can’t find one for less than $30,000. Edited to add: ah….you got incredibly lucky. That makes more sense😊I have wanted on for over a decade….one day if I become a millionaire somehow.

When I told my husband that I wanted one, I prefaced it with "this is completely impossible and will never happen but..." and amazingly here we are. I'd definitely look used because you never know! :)

I'd love an AGA cooker, but, it costs more than my truck 🤷‍♀️

It’s wild how expensive they are new! I’m still shocked by the crazy deal we found on ours. Thanks for watching!

Not sure where you’re getting that from….the company is AGA. I have never heard it pronounced with an “r” but that may be a regional thing.
