as a turkish guy who lives in one of the bulgarian border cities, when i watch this video i can see how related we are, i know all of the food and i eat all of them too. greetings from turkey
Yes we are related. Blood related because most of you have a Greek that was either raped or forced to convert in your past. Sorry if you take it as insult but the natives were numerically more than the invaders and you must realize that it is a possible truth, right?
This is wonderful. I grew up eating the same foods in the US because both of my parents are from Greece. Wish I could share this channel with my mom, but she passed last October. She would have loved watching it. Thank you.
Nothing much changes!, i have just been transported to my childhood in the late sixties in Cyprus, the person cooking could so easily be my grandma, the food is almost the same. Great stuff.
Apparently you're dreaming. NOBODY grew up on "Rotisserie Chicken" and "carry out" in the 1960s.Even in America. And HUGE pieces of meat. Untill the Common Market (EU) (seen in part two)

I know some would expect to see some more "fancy" stuff if i can call them that. But tbh in Greece we grew up eating these foods (Pastitsio, Gemista, Aubergines with tomatoes, Stewed potatoes with tomatoes etc), they maybe not have the best look, but i assure you they taste heaven
Nothing like Greek food 😋 It reminds me a lot of mediterranean food in general... We have a lot similar dishes here in Dalmatia, Croatia Warm greetings to you ❤
AUTHENTIC, RUSTIC, TRADITIONAL, HARDCORE REAL GREEK CUISINE.WELL DONE,DELICIOUS HEALTHY AND AMAZING GREEK EATS AT ITS FINEST.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.VERY IMPRESSIVE .GOD BLESS YIA YIA AND HER WHOLE FAMILY.
What I love about good Greek food is the quality ingredients and the clean simplicity of flavours. On my first visit to Crete, I ate a plate of local fried eggs, sliced sun-ripened tomatoes, rustic bread and coffee. It was heaven. I've been to both Greece several times and love the life there
No they don't. 😂😂😂I have been living in Greece and Cyprus for 20 years now, obesity especially among children is on a rise, Greeks smoke a lot, too. I have never seen a 90 year old in Greece. Cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, very common.. young people don't or won't cook. They also eat a lot of fried food and desserts loaded with sugar. Just because it's vegetables or fried in olive oil doesn't make it healthier.
@@cookie_dough_hangover They do smoke a lot, but the quality of food and living into nature makes up even for smoking. I'm referring to older generations, living in rural areas. Younger generations in cities are a different story. I know quite a few 90+ yo in Greece btw 🙂.
@@stevelam5898 Nah, still not true. Reality is totally different. Nothing like what you see on TV. My husband's grandparents, all four lived and raised in a countryside: died of diabetes, cancer and heart issues. Most of our friends' grandparents, too.
@@cookie_dough_hangover Well I guess we have different experiences. Most of my relatives have lived around +/- 90, without even living in rural areas for most of their lives, mostly like middle sized towns or cities. Though excellent quality food was widely available. I've met people who had reached 90 while heavily smoking until late age (I'm not advocating for it, some didn't make it that far).
Exactly same concept as South Italy: they are our cousins. That is why in the Mediterranean sea we have so many centenaries and we genuinly miss our food when we are abroad :D
This was such a relaxing video to watch. The food looks amazing! And I loved how you added the chickens in throughout. The landscape and climate are so familiar even if I live thousands of miles away in California. I need to visit Greece again and spend more time in quiet villages. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
If you mean "gyros" as "healthy", then you don' t know what you are talking. It is worst than hamburgers. But the takeaway you can get from bakeries (spinackpies, cheese pies etc.) is quite healthy.
Nothing goes to waste in that house. Hard to choose a favorite dish, her vegetable fritters are exceptional and the whole extended family claims that her fried meatballs are not to be missed.
There are done areas, that eat like this. I few up in the magic valley of Texas. You'd drop. An avocado seed on your garden land and it would sprout into a, tree. I grew up with incredible salads fish from the Gulf of Mexico, Texan beef the best, chickens and eggs, from local Texan farmers, loads, of oven dishes and stews plus fresh oysters, shrimp from local fisheries at Port. The ruby grapefruit was, the best sweet and loaded with vitamins. Never had cellulite. Outdoor all day by cycling swimming surfing, barbecues, with tbobe steak corn, hardly any bread. Loads, of tortillas, beans in stew pot and lentils with only vegetables, loads, of fresh Texan oranges juice, best apples, mangoes everyday and best chocolate ices cream. What a, good life everyone was very thin and strong shape . Neighbors with carrot cake oatmeal raison cookies homemade banana cake, potatoes fried cakes, guacamole made from Mexican avocado s, Tamarindo. from local the best for metabolism, jalapeños with eggs and beans and rice. Loads, of freezing cold Nestea. Trays, of carrots and celery sliced and in fridge for snacks. Could keep on.
Could you tell me what tool that is? The arthritis in my hands has gotten so bad and I had trouble prepping my green beans last year for canning. That tool looks so handy!
In Dobrogea, where my half Greek grandma was born, she used to make a dip called ,,scordoleá" of nuts and garlic and it was for fish as well But it is a Romanian dip, probably borrowed from Byzantine influences, esspecially in Dobrogea
your channel dropped into my feed: exceptionally nice to watch, especially being turkish, i know almost all these foods. greetings from southern california
That coffee looks so strong you could stand a spoon up in it! I thought they were making hot chocolate. I would be awake for three days straight if i drank that coffee 😂
The transition videos from your village remind me of mine in West Achaia. I hope you always have great memories at both Korea and Greece with your family!
What a wonderful level of skill grandma has. I feel so hungry now and would like to try everything she made. And all the meals are so healthy, using fresh homegrown vegetables. Amazing!
Because this is homemade food. Even in Greece they don’t serve this stuff in restaurants. That is why we should all learn how to cook and prepare the best meals for ourselves. Instead nowadays young people (at least in Greece) don’t bother with cooking and eat delivered foods every day. Thank God there are still some grandma’s who make all these beautiful recipes for their family.
Ouaouh!! please allow me to eat these wonderful meals, it looks so wonderful!!! 😲 c'est quel village ? j'aimerais tellement aller goûter à ces magnifiques saucisses!
I have been watching your videos the entire day, and i have some questions.. 1. Where does she live? 2. Can i visit her? 🙂 i promise to do all the cleaning for her!!
I am unhealthy from blood clots and permanent spine damage. My sister married a Greek man and had a home in Greece and speaks fluent Greek and also lived there for six years. She is an athlete and so healthy. She sends me Greek recipes to help me get strong. I loved your video of Greek food. Could I get the recipes on your video. I am okay to pay for them. I love the Greek saying that Food is medicine’
First we put the amount of water we need (use the cup we will drink). Let the water heat up and add two spoonfuls of coffee (not too full) and as much sugar as you want. Stir and leave the mixture alone. When we hear the sound that it will soon boil, turn down the heat so that it does not swell suddenly. The moment we see it rise a little at the edges, the coffee is ready (it should not boil or rise to the top).
My mother from the Balkans made two kinds of mousaka: with eggplant and with potatoes. I hated the former, but the latter was one of my favorites. It seems to me that Greek and Bosnian/Serbian cuisine have a lot of similarities. Maybe it's because both regions were under the Ottoman Turks for a long time.
