Onion soups have been popular since the Roman period, especially eaten by poor people as onions were plentiful and easy to grow. French onion soup as we know it today was created in Paris in the 18th century, and was introduced to the US in the 1860s at a NYC restaurant owned by Swiss-born Henri Mouquin who fell in love with France after meeting Napoleon III in Lausanne. He chose to go to Paris at age 17 and finally the US where he entered the restaurant industry. The onion soup gained popularity in the US in the 1960s thanks to Julia Child.

I wanted to know if Alessio's family cook bagna cauda, my grandmother was born in Calabria and she made that meal, but something tells me that maybe her family was from the North, cause of the origins of bagna cauda. I don't know when I started incorporating Panettone in our family Christmas traditions but we get one every year and I also buy the trio popcorn tins my kids absolutely love these both during the holidays. I quit buying once the kids grew up and out of the house but this year I was gifted a small personal Panettone so good 🙏

Could you post a video with a step by step recipe on Allesio’s lasagna? It looks delicious! I find most people use ricotta in there lasagna but I don’t enjoy the grainy texture of the ricotta. So I use cottage cheese instead. But Allesio’s looks delicious and I’d love to know his secret. 😊

Not a squash eater but everything else looks positively amazing. I can absolutely visualize the aromas and the taste of the food. You are both most excellent cooks. For taste, it's diet Pepsi (diabetic) hands down for the soda question, but I do have others that l enjoy.

He is confusing chicken stock / broth with just making a chicken vegetable soup in layers! For stock / broth you want the vegetables and chicken to cook longer to extract the most flavor.

That’s not just any cheese he’s snacking on, that’s BABYBEL! That’s the cheese of my childhood, I’d always snack on some Babybel in elementary school because it’s the right size and too good to say no to. Also, as a bird lover, I appreciate the wholesome blue jay footage at 7:00. I had two pet budgies growing up (named Elvis and Presley) and they loved flying around our apartment when we lived in Jersey City. They tried to hide from us behind cookie jars on the kitchen cabinets, blend in with the blue curtains and especially enjoyed looking out the windows at the wild sparrows outside.
