Shout out to all these former players for having the guts to expose the program and athletic department. I felt for these players when I was reading that ESPNW article!
It’s incredibly unfortunate how common this crap is. Speaking from experience both as a D1 student athlete & as a D1 grad assistant coach-I’m not surprised in any way, shape, or form-but I’m glad to hear some level of outrage connected to both the behavior that led to the pain of many young women, but also the behavior of the athletic department staff who were charged with the job of protecting & advocating for these young athletes & their development as athletes and individuals. Their job descriptions CERTAINLY included their watch over the young female athletes, but let’s it forget that they are charged with the same duties over the young men in the auburn athletic programs from which their salaries are derived. The young men they rely on for their very livelihoods also deserve the respect of having DECENT-not even good, certainly not great-role models & life experiences to shape them into the good, decent, respectful men they should be. Break this damn cycle of abuse for everyone’s sake.
Why? It's like saying no more female teachers because all of the female teachers sleeping with their male students. The next coach needs to be the right PERSON.
