I actually don't buy the mind control theory too well. We see them run from us, they obviously have reservations about being meat for the grinder. Yet when they do charge, it feels more like they have no choice. I think they're both slaves and workers. Wage slaves, essentially. The Corpus feels like it's much more than any body of people, but rather the ideal that guides them. The Corpus being profit, revenue, trade, and business. The Corpus is the machine, and those that run it are merely cogs of varying sizes.

The gases could easily be just refined rare gases that are used to cool down Corpus tech like robotics and shields, Jupiter is filled with those inert rare gases and the tilesets we get in them are clearly floating refineries. The Crewmen's speech is probably a way to mask combat commands so that a platoon of enemies can easily communicate without letting the enemy listen and understand what they're talking about, additionally it serves to make them sound more intimidating. I also always thought that crewmen helmets have a lot more technology behind and that they can see their sorroundings with a normal field of view while also deleting identity in the workplace, ideally rendering them more efficient in the workplace (this way you can apply an industrial hive-like set of mind even if they're technically not a hivemind at all, just they imitate it as they see it as a way to be more efficient or at least, efficient for their guard duty and industrial labor, while the higher-up "profiteers" prefer to be distinct to one another)

I think the Worker theory is most likely. In fact, I would argue that the existence of Prod crewmen supports this. Darvo says the robotics they used are equipped with restraints to help keep them in line (which StarlordD mentions in the video - though I think he's overthinking the banners when it comes to the "sentience" of the robotics; going in line with the talk of Corpus being something like a family [i.e. the Mafia] as the Anti Moa Synthesis suggests) and as the Corpus weaponry is primarily electric based I think this is to incapacitate Robotics to be able to shut them off without damaging them too much and allow for reprogramming and repair in case of haywire-caused attacks - caused not by surfacing Sentience, but simple malfunctioning programming and the like. And while he's certainly not someone to trust long-term, I'm not sure Nef Anyo can be counted as 100% a liar. I completely expected him to dump the Void talk after his scheme with the Bursa backfired, but he kept it up, leading me to the conclusion that he actually believes it himself. And, with that, I'd say that his words about being a Crewman who rose up through the ranks are similarly factual. But that's sort of my interpretation.
@dannylamb456
@dannylamb456 9 лет назад
Morec0 Plus, if I was a Corpus or a colonist in a Corpus controlled zone, I'd actually believe Anyo if he said that he was a crewman and if the Worker theory is true. Otherwise, no one would be stupid enough to fall for his scams.
@MrAsmil
@MrAsmil 8 лет назад
+Morec0 I agree with the worker theory, the fact that that many corpus weapons were originally used as tools like the lasers for drilling seems to indicate that they were only used for self defence as a last resort. And when you look at the comment on how the average person never sees corpus units it leads me to believe taht the Tennos are attacking workcenters and ships(pretty obvious one). Also the term crewman seems very similar to that used for standard military workers, like Airman in the air force and seaman for the navy, basically mostly maintainer, mechanics or engineers with below average combat training. The hive mind theory is slightly defunded by their use of robotics (why even use crewman then) and the normal creman tactics that seem to be centered around self defence, hiding behind cover, shields, using robotics etc. Hive minds usually use the lower rank fighters as pure cannon fodder, like the zergs in SC

I think the worker theory is more likely, but they don't work and fight for the corpus by choice. they don't know any other life, and even if they did most couldn't afford to leave the corpus life. IMO it's pretty clear that the corpus are meant to be a brutal representation of corrupt capitalism. the mind control theory is possible, but less likely and less interesting.
@blackguard5883
@blackguard5883 7 лет назад
According to lore gathered from Cephalon fragments, the Corpus workers are purpose-bred into certain castes, each with a set series of functions. This implies indoctrination from birth. I'm not a firm believer in the "mind control" aspect, but neural implants that allow them to directly interface with nearby proxies? THAT I believe to be true. It would assist in keeping formations evenly spaced and proper tactical timing. This would also assist "foreman" caste Corpus in assigning tasks to manufacturing proxies in non-combat scenarios. *Side Note:* This video is in need of revising, simply due to new information being explicitly stated.

The semi-sentient robotics theory can be supported by the MOA in the Perrin Sequence room in the relays, as the MOA there stands up when it gets pet, and sadly crouches when somebody wags their finger at it.

The humanoid crew men could be humans recruited from distant and impoverished colonies- maybe miners from asteroid belts and the like. This would explain why they have their own distinct dialect that separates them from the rest of the system- they are isolated and don't get much cultural exchange. Their impoverished nature could be by design- the corpus keep them that way so they would be more than willing to jump into battle to get leg up. Heck- it could be ancient design- the orokin relied upon colonies with their own cultures designed around subservience (As seen with Inaros on mars).

That just made me realizing something, as I'm french-speaker I did not realize before but nearly all the corpus proxies are animal-based name. - Moa is an extinguished bird type like ostrich, from New-Zealand. - Osprey is a bird of prey type that still exist irl from many locations. - Hyena is a feliform scavenger mainly from Africa. - Jackal is a canis scavenger mainly from south African region and dry regions. - Ratel is a name used to designate the Honey Badger. - Raknoids, well depsite having only 4 paws instead of 6 we can still say they are Aracnid related. (spider) - Some corpus vehicles also got animal names, such as the Condor DropShip. That's interesting what Darvo says about the corpus also using some restraint devise on moas, as if they were capable of rebels or act differently. That sounds a lot like the corpus proxies are not fully IAs but mind-controlled. Fortuna brought us a lot of new infos on corpus lore and methods such as our own moas for example.

What if the Corpus is a reference to an organization? For example, we have the military. The members of America's Marines are referred to as serving the Corps, and are Corps men themselves. Similarly, Crewmen serve the Corpus as their "Corps". As for the robotics, such as your reference to the Moa, the labs could point to having the Grineer used for Moas. That would explain why they would have to be put in restraints and possibly the original biological design of the Moas. It would not be too far-fetched either, as shown in your other video going over the tiering of Grineer, because some of the Grineer are used in robotics, namely for the Uranus projects.

i find the speechof robotics a little stupid since they could just send messages instantly through the server we are hacking, needing not to press buttons. Also they could use speech just to decrease the cost of communication, since the corpus is looking for the profit. But I do not know whether they would risk losing such important data just to make a profit out of that communication.

Should be noted that in the more advanced proxies, like the Jackal, the proxy is often mocking the player. An entirely robotic brain really wouldn't do that imo. While yeah it was most likely inserted for humorous effect, it is in fact canon material, so it still lends credence to the Corpus using biological material in their proxies. Perhaps, they found that integrating organic brain systems augmented more advanced robotic protocol, or maybe is essential in making it work in the first place.

In the corpus proxy rebellion missions, you fight only the robots.

It'd make sense if there was a necessity for Corpus Proxies to be semi-sentient in their intelligence. The lore does state they use their proxies for business, and anyone not fighting the Corpus usually doesn't see anything of the Corpus themselves. This leads me to believe that they are semi-sentient in order to carry out dealings, as an AI that could alternate its prices, haggle, or otherwise offer more appealing deals to each customer could probably also do so in a way to maximize profits for its owners. Effectively, they're semi-sentient in order to understand humans so they can make better and more efficient deals that result in a satisfied customer and a profiting Corpus. Just a thought, however.

Data is acquired from signal transmissions, just like tenno can transmit specific void frequencies to the warframe, they can also recieve. think of it as a super fucking advanced walkie talkie

I believe that the Corpus isn't a race or group within a race, but as the operator puts it in-game, a cult. A conglomeration of races joined together in the pursuit of first, and science after that. It would support the "serve the corpus" banners on Jupiter, and the idea of the crewmen being on the bottom of the hierarchy, doing the dirty work for the higher-ups like the real scientists and traders. Their mastery of languages could be attributed go their various species within their cult of greed, and the robotics could be a more reliable, compliant "foot soldier" in case the members among lower rankings fall out of line. It's sounds dark, but warframe lore has never shied away from that sort of thing

Well according to the lore the orokin(who are advanced humans) created the corpus as a more advanced version of the grinder in order to manage the more complicated aspects of society. The "corpus" could simply be a name for a god that the proxies worship and the crewman and robots are equally sentient as they share in their common belief in the "corpus". And since the orokin created the corpus and their proxies the god "corpus" could be what the orokin wanted the proxies to refer to them as. But since in the game the orokin are gone, the proxies continue with their original programming by worshipping the "corpus" yet without the orokin to guide them the proxies of higher intelligence (alad v and Darvo) replace the "corpus" and reshape its image to bend the proxies to their will.

You haven't read the lore very well then. The Corpus are/were a mercantile cult risen from the regular human class that was condemned by The Seven. You know, the Orokin emperors? Additionally, the proxies are created by the Corpus who place science and robotics in high regard, but programmed with intentional redundancies to prevent incursions.

Interesting thought about parasitic restraints being used in Moas, although I'd wager they aren't endowed with advanced AI, but rather animalistic "instinct" with refined control through said parasitism.
