Hi everyone, thank you so much for watching our Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar series. If this is the first video you've watched be sure to watch the first three here: ru-vid.com/group/PLOT_jgQ5dAKxrEpmp-yvOaGvxmp1gtxwT If you are planning a visit to the Ambar, and have any questions, let us know in the comments!
Thank you so much, Bailey. We try to present all the facts and let people make their own decisions, and we're so glad to hear that you found the video to be helpful!
Your videos on this hotel were extremely helpful to me and my family. We just returned from a great week away. We talked about your restaurant recommendations and suggestions! Thanks again.
Nice video, a wonderful and enjoyable tour. The beach Looks so beautiful with that coconut and pineapples juice look yum ! Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your day
I could see why you enjoyed Las Brisas so much !! breakfast and that view and a day at the beach !!!!!! OMG !!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for bit of sunshine ! Its about 38 degrees here in Buffalo NY! I need some sunshine and beach time !!! lol !!!!!!!!
I think we all want life back to normal right now. You did a great job of featuring the resort. In the least, the video got my mind in a vicarious position.
Wow, the beaches at that resort look absolutely stunning 😍Loved all the tiki huts and the boardwalks. The all-inclusive experience looks like it is well worth the money
It was a really good deal and was a nice change. We (mainly Skylar) weren't sure if we'd be able to stay on a resort for 6 six days without getting a bit bored, but we had no trouble keeping ourselves entertained!
Love this video, and will be booking to visit next year because of this. I just wondered what month did you visit? The beach looked amazing with no seaweed. Thank you
Thanks so much for watching. I believe we stayed there in October. We did luck out with the seaweed situation! We hope you have a wonderful time when you go.
This is great Guys - Always good to get your likes and dislikes from a spot. I remember staying at a place on Playa Del Carman beach in Mexico and the seaweed you mention was there. You were very lucky not to get any and can understand why people had left negative reviews. We were there for diving, but getting to the boat from the beach was horrendous. There was about 10 metres of thigh deep seaweed we had to walk through to get to the boat. It was gross and the hot sun made it stink really bad. There was no way anyone was swimming or enjoying the beach. Tractors were there fulltime to try and get rid of it, but it was useless, and there no way I was walking through that again to dive a second day. You don't want to see it !!!! As we know, seaweed comes with the tides and weather conditions, so not always the case - It can be hit and miss all the time to get a great looking beach. Apart from that the wristband room key was a cool idea. We have that for waterparks and lockers over here. Jamie - I love your dress when your going out for dinner - So Stunning ! Gym time is not something I tend to do on holidays, but if I did - it would be in the morning. Although not sure I would like to book it in either. I have a strict schedule for most things in my life, but tend to be a bit random when it comes to gym time....LOL Your drinks situation I have come across many times and it's not good getting a different tasting drink from a different bartender. There should be more consistent. and I definitely like the fresh fruits than the processed syrups. Ok rambled on enough...haha...Greeat video guys !
Thank you so much Chris 💓 I agree, we were lucky with the seaweed situation. we've experienced beaches with bad seaweed, but nothing like what you experienced around Playa Del Carmen ..eeek 😬that does sound horrendous! Skylar reallly liked the wristband room keys, he has lost many things along the way on our adventures so not having to worry about a key or card really added to the feeling of relaxation 🙌 it is also a great idea to use them at waterparks! We do hope, and think it is likely, that the gym and drink situation will improve as the resort continues in it's reopening process, but only time will tell :) As always, thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much for watching. Unfortunately it has been quite some time since we stayed at this property. We didn't attempt to snorkel so we are not sure if you'd be able to see anything in the water in front of the resort. So sorry we couldn't be more helpful.
Glad to hear a special deal with the hotel, it looks like a beautiful property. Coffee is very important! Sorry there wasn't any nightlife, at least you had a nice restaurants to enjoy some drinks and good food. Love this very honest and candid review. BTW those pineapple drinks are looking awesome!
The food and drink did look really good quality! The pool music probably wouldn't be my cup of tea either but hey, you've got that beautiful beach instead 😍
Great list of pros and cons guys! I definitely think the pros outweigh the cons. We've never tried an all inclusive before, but I think we might have to now.
I agree, the pros much exceeded the cons :) You should give it a try at least once to see what you think. The experience is much different than adventuring and exploring, but it is sure nice to just be able to relax in a beautiful place for a bit. Thanks for watching :)
@@Explorcation I will be there soon 🥳…We will be arriving on New years eve!! we have everything ready (including our booster jab done) 💉😀☀️🏝✈️. Can’t wait!!! How are things across the pond?
@@JC-po6yj woohooo that is awesome!! we hope you have safe travels :) when you are in the area feel free to reach out! Things are going well hear, the weather is great and we are finding more and more things to do each week :)
sorry for the delay! We are catching up on comments :) I don't think there is a way to DM here on YT. Are you on IG or FB? We do receive DMs on both - explor_cation on IG and explorcation on FB :) Only a few more days 😀
Thanks so much for the video guys! I had one quick question. I heard that this resort up charges you for wifi. The free wifi is very bad is what I heard. Is that true?
Thanks so much for watching Jesus. When we visited last year we used the free wifi. It was fine for internet browsing and what we needed to use it for, but it was slow.
Excellent videos about this resort! My wife and I are going to the same resort in about a week. Great job you put in creating these amazing clips full of tips. Have a quick question; does one need to make reservations at Las Brisas for breakfast and lunch? Thanks!
@@Explorcation That was a fast response - thanks. BTW: Is it true that people venture to the beach early in the morning and reserve their spots with personal items then leave to come back much later in the day? (I read it somewhere - that seems rather unethical in my view). My wife and I can't wait to be there this coming Thu! :-)
@@geo77sand sorry it has taken us so long to respond this time (you may already be at the resort) during our visit it was true that people get out early to reserve spots. this was definitely one of the negatives of the resort when we were there. We hope you have a great time!
@@Explorcation Dear friends; Thank you for replying my msg. My wife and I spent a glorious wonderful time at Bahia Principe Ambar on Jan 12 - 19. I was a bit afraid my wife would not have as much fun since she is not a "beach person" nor likes to swim under intense sun. I was wrong. In fact my wife is the one who enjoyed the stay the most. I took some of your advise (i.e. ordering that Churasco steak from M.E.A.T, trying some of the desserts & cocktails that you recommended in the various a la carte restaurants and bars). Even the food at the "Las Brisas" buffet was great - lots of variety. I managed to reserve 4-5 al la carte restaurants via the Bahia Principe App. It worked well. BTW: the only time we dressed up nice for dinner was at LIMBO. I was bit mad that most patrons weren't following the dress code at any of these restaurants (was told the resort used to enforce it but not anymore). What we liked the most were these 4-some entertainers who kept the crowds dancing almost every night and organizing various entertainment venues such as that Brazilian Carnival show - we loved it! And even though I had a bit of a hard time seeking a beach spot under one of those straw umbrellas, I learned that if I show up after 2:30 or 3pm some folks already had left, securing a spot for myself and my wife. Same went for the main pool. The pool was bit noisy but it wasn't as bad as I thought. We also used the next-door pool for which was less crowded. Even there we both were invited to try water Sumba aerobics 🙂. One neat thing that happened on a Sunday was that that day it rained quite a lot. We were caught while swimming. The rain scared almost all the beach goers, and in fact when I headed to the beach I had almost the whole thing to myself! Oh and speaking of the beach, I felt everyone of the staff members were super friendly and supportive of our needs. Even the vendors were very courteous (got some souvenirs from them at fair prices). On our last day I got to see colourful fish and even a tortoise while swimming at the beach (brought my goggles). Did take a lot of pics + video. You were right about The Ambra. My wife and I (and possibly our grown-up adult kids) are looking forwards to visit Punta Cana again! PS: My biggest fear and stressful moment was going there from Ottawa, Canada. We just escaped from a nasty snow storm with more than 20cm of it - phew!
@@geo77sand thanks so much for sharing about your experience , we are so happy to hear that your wife enjoyed the Ambar more than you expected! That would be frustrating to find out about the dress code not being enforced :( It does sound like the resort entertainment experience may have improved since our visit, which is great to hear! Your recent review sure is helpful to those who are deciding to book or not :) We hope your whole family is able to plan a DR trip in the future!
Hi Diane, thank you so much for watching, we really did enjoy our time at the Ambar :) When we were there we did not have to make reservations at Las Brisas for breakfast or lunch. However, we were there in October and have heard that this has changed, at least for a period of time. If you are interested in what the current protocols are we would recommend joining the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar FB group, it is very helpful to find out what the experience at the resort is like currently. We hope this helps!
@@dianeHarper1981 we sure do hope that by then the village is back open 🤞😀 we were able to walk around the village area when we were there, and while it was empty, it was huge. I can imagine that when it is open it quite fun and can really add to the experience at the resort.
I may have missed it but were the foods and drinks you enjoyed at the restaurants included in the price of the all inclusive package? All of your dining experiences look wonderful and the property is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for a great wrap up of your BPLA experience, I enjoyed the series very much! :-)
Hi Ronda, Joel is correct. Everywhere we ate was included. There were some up charge options, like lobster, but we did not choose any upcharges for dining during our stay. Thanks so much for watching the series we really appreciate it ❤️ (I think I saw you commented on the others too, we have comments to catch up on those vids and will respond later this weekend 😊)
Thanks so much, Rudolf. We really enjoyed our room location, but would have preferred a floor higher (third floor) if possible. I would recommend avoiding a room that looks out to the pool, as the pool gets quite loud. Close to the pool but not facing it would be the best. Also, we've heard mixed reviews on the swim-up rooms. Many people love them, but some people complain that they lack privacy, as the is shared with neighboring units.
Hi guys, we've been watching your videos for this resort. Based on your comments, we think that you would really enjoy the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, DR. We have very similar interests to yours, and we really enjoyed this Hyatt resort. I hope this helps and let us know if you ever go!
Thanks so much for watching, Joel. And when we are ready to return to the D.R., we'll definitely look into the Hyatt Zilara! We really appreciate the recommendation.
There was definitely some seaweed in the water in parts, but the majority of the areas seemed clear and were a beautiful blue color. The beach cleaners did a great job of getting all of the seaweed off of the beaches early in the morning.
When we visited only one restaurant (Limbo) had a strict formal dress code (men must wear long pants and collared shirts I believe). The other ones weren't as strict. No open toed shoes (for men) and swimwear was allowed, but I believe most any other attire was ok.
As a previous visitor to the Ambar, I definitely echo the sentiments about some drinks being quite strong (which is definitely good) and the active options (outside of swimming and walking) being limited. The activity courts were still shut down for Covid protocol.(which is understandable) Other than that, the property and experience was amazing.
Thanks so much for watching our video and for sharing our experience, Tori! We agree that more activities would have been nice, but understand why they were limited due to COVID.
I don't believe that there is an uber/lyft. We did a shared transfer with Coming2 for around $35 roundtrip. You can also chose to do a private transfer for around $70 I believe.
Oh no, we are so sorry to hear that, how recent was your visit? We typically aren't early risers, but when we were there the nightlife was very limited, the Plaza was still closed. We decided to go to bed early and wake up for sunrise and surprisingly really enjoyed that routine. We hope you were still able to enjoy your stay.
Thanks for the loud music warning at the pool. Punta Cana Adult hotels seems to think torturing tourists with loud and obnoxious techno music all day has some appeal. I will be going elsewhere based on this alone.
No problem, Tom. We figured that would be a deal break for some people. We were thankful that we could escape to some of the not so loud pools on the nearby sister properties, but still not ideal. We are heading to a different all-inclusive in Punta Cana next month, and we're hoping for a much quieter pool experience!
@@JoseCarlosCrotti at this point it has been quite some time since we were there, we do not recall the specific upcharge. There is a group on FB specific to this property that may be able to help (Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar). There might be members at the resort currently that could tell you the upcharge.
We've heard from multiple friends and family members how good that show is, but we still haven't gotten around to watching it. Now that we know Jamie has a doppelganger, we're going to have to check it out for sure😅 Thanks for tuning in to the channel, Amber!
