What We Never Pass Up At Estate Sales! 

Yeah it was a bummer but also a blessing because we don’t have much room for them at the moment. This estate sale company is really good and fair so all good.

Totally. They’re plain usually and when the design is good, it’s hundreds of dollars for a set. When I was looking through the family photos, I was looking for Halloween or anything with interesting subject matter or artistic content. In the preview photos there were some incredible portraits of men in Vietnam. They almost looked like selfies but probably taken by another solider. When I was able to get into the house, a guy had already bought them all. But just glad they’re going to someone and avoiding being thrown out. In the last month, I found two original 1930’s and 40’s Halloween photos, one is signed Salem, MA 1936 and it’s a woman dressed as a witch riding a broom. I’m thinking to make a video about it. I’m going to scan it and sell copies. It’s just so incredible. I think subject matter in photos that sells is early holiday photos, early beach photos, dog and cat photos, some early car pics. As long as they’re in focus and we’ll composed. Thanks for the question. I realize now I should have explained this better. Also, I have a tendency to buy family photos so they don’t get thrown out. Even film productions use them for researching time period styles.

Wow, great answer and info. My parents recently passed (both in their 90's) and am clearing their house to sell. I find that the photos are my biggest treasure, but could not figure out why other people would want them. Now it makes sense! Thanks and I always enjoy your vlogs. I think that is an unfair statement, but understand that it may appear this way from the outside. If you have watched our other videos and if you knew us, you would know that we care a great deal for the items that we handle. This is why we do what we do, not just to make money. It is very difficult for Kelly to hold the camera and navigate, so it may appear haphazard, but it is not. We love what we do and it is our wish that the things that are being discarded at estate sales find new life, either with us or by passing through our hands.

That’s quite a statement and judgement. There is some rummaging that happens and frenzy when you’re looking through things but my aim is to respect the items and lives of the people who had them and also people buying at estate sales. This business, like any other, can lose site of what’s important. I never want to be that. Also, serves to note that I didn’t break anything. Things happen of course and I’m not judging when something happens but everything I looked at went back in the box it came from.
