Hello, Danielle and Jason. I love the stairs. I knew the stairs running full length across the front would be amazing. And it is. Whatever y'all do is going to be awesome. I love y'all video. Have a great Sunday. ❤❤❤ 🫵🫵🫵. Have lots of fun.🥰🥰🥰
So I don’t think anyone is saying you’re doing anything wrong. Just more suggestions. So you take what you want to do, and use judgment for suggestions and do what u want. For instance, lol. I have another suggestion…. Your biggest problem over the years is going to be your floor. Because you’re in a tin building and on wood moisture is your enemy. If u are going to insulate your floor it has to breathe. Try to find like a 3”x12” foundation vents and install around the base of your grain bin. Maybe 4 or 6 of them. U need some kind of air under there or it will rot. Again a suggestion. U can do it anyway u want, but u need air flow just like any craw space basement or attic. Just something to think about. So just to tell u i don’t talk out my butt, I have built hundreds of homes, commercial buildings and apartments. Not to mention extensive remodeling and repair. The biggest issue with floor and roof rot is lack of air flow. Just here to toss ideas, u do what u want. Good vids though, I like this grain build.
We are happy with whatever you can share. I know you want a quality video but most of us understand the condition in the bin aren’t made for producing videos. You two have a blessed day.
The floor, if you could make it high enough to put open/closed vents around the bend to allow air flow under the floor. Like you would a normal house build. With the insulation under the deck.
We have faith in you figuring things out, you always do. I think most are concerned with the foundation where the bin sits bc it’s wood & eventually can rot. However if the bin sits on the piers then it should be ok. I think using dock paint around the outside of bin on the deck wood help keep water from the wood, & also figuring out how to get gutters to keep water away from coming down the sides. …another thought I had was for you to cut out the deck on the inside and start from ground up, but the bin would need to be sitting on the piers & piers would need to be spaced right to start the floor I think. I hope that makes sense. Idk, I’m just a girl. lol. Wishing you the best as always & anxious to see how you plan to do it, bc I’ve never seen a round house built on a deck lol. You could be the first. 😊👍
So looking forward to the next Crocker video, to see if any of our suggestions fit the professionals advice..😂 Love ya'll ❤️. 100% correct about working at night...NOT!
I really enjoy watching your life. I don’t have a life. I work a job I hate. I live in an apartment and I’m 62 so I’m on a fixed income. Watching you two is so enjoyable and makes me happy. Thank you for allowing me to enjoy your journey!! Love to you both.
My house will be 100 yrs old in 2028 and there's a lot that are much older. If you build right it'll last you a lifetime and longer. May your house be Blessed and may your path be easy in the build. 🙏🙏🙏
Jason it's just occurred to me that you have, with your daily filming, created a niche of filmmaking that is specific enough to make you an entrepreneur. Good work!
What you taught me is that I would never put a silo home on a wood foundation. It really makes little sense to do so. So many long term potential problems that a concrete slab would keep from happening.
There's many treatments like the Thompsons many have mentioned. They used a deck instead of a slab on the grain bin seller's recommendation. Someone who's very experienced.
On paper it does seem to make sense to use a deck foundation…making it perhaps a bit easier for water and drain needs…but the installer really didn’t really advise in the best interest of the build here. Beyond the “life” of the wood foundation issue…you are going to have the potential for long term moisture issues with the floor. It was pointed our even with treated wood heavy exposure to water still followed the grain inside despite the ceiling where the metal/deck come together. Usually this is managed when on a slab by pouring concrete inside…and then the ceil is really good and no moisture issue. I can’t fault you for following the suggestion of the guy who you used to build this…I may have considered it as well…but after seeing what it looks like in your case…no way. Nevertheless this should be a good lesson for all. I’m looking forward to how this issue of moisture is handled…hopefully there’s a good solution.
@@johngoheen6670 Ah I think worrying might be a little over the top, almost every house has a deck and while it's true that most don't carry this much intended weight, unless they're utterly neglected, we rarely see decks rotting or falling apart even though they get rained on all the time. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I'm thinking they're using treated wood, they'll do the floor correctly (according to the professional advice they received), properly seal the deck, appropriately seal around the seam inside and out, and then maintain it all. And it'll be fine.
@@RMMomma4Eva in the history of steel grain silo bins since first introduced in 1908 no one was ever used a wooden deck for a food a foundation as this is not something that should ever be considered as proper. The builder in this story would tell you no farmer he knows has ever done this before. Sure, it seems like it could help with plumbing and maybe electric access that is far out weighted by potential serious moisture issues and ultimately the foundation having to be replaced one day or the whole thing torn down. Bad advice for sure.
Hey guy's!!! Happy Sunday. Love the stairs!!! Jason,I think you dont give yourself enough credit!!! I've watched you since Grannies. You can do it. We all have to ask questions. Once you do you figure it out. I do hafta say you maybe want to shave 😊 I would think it would be cooler. Also major sweat relief is threw your head, maybe wear a sweat band in the bin when your working 😊 carpeter shorts you can get on line or walmart. They may help stay cooler and still have pockets to carry what you need. Ok hope something will help. Love you guys❤❤❤
Hi Jason and Danielle- just love your stairs and well everything you share. Don’t forget vents are needed on your floors to allow the air flow out; you guys know. Have a wonderful day 👍
Can you possibly do a interior concrete floor that the wood deck can hold. That way if interior gets wet it won't rot the wood. It doesn't. Need to be a thick floor. Also you can pour yourself either wet or dry. What do ya think?
Why not use USB rechargeable string lights used for camping videos, they could be duc taped to the walls. Just an idea. How about putting cement stepping stones under the floor choice. They are 1"-2" thick and water proof. You got it, interesting to see what yoh decide.
You should watch the Cajon family so you can see how they built concrete steps that was just dry poor. I think you'd find out that would be a lot easier than anything you can put all kinds of steps and sidewalks and all kinds of stuff like that
Gooooooooood morning Mr and Mrs Crocker Jason you will figure it out 1 day closer to BAM 💥 Fest I’m so excited 😆 I can’t wait to see you guys love ❤️ from Ohio Irene and god bless
Good Morning! Your deck build is so similar to the round beach houses we see along the shorelines. Google roundhouses for great design ideas. I am sure you have covered all bases before you shared with us. I know it will be beautiful. Looking forward to everything you both have to share with us.
Good Sunday morning, kids! ❤😊❤. I just got through texting an answer to Simply Southern 's post. See if Carly Junod ( or Seth) can help you with the math to figure out where you can put your windows. It's basic geometry, but if you don't use it, you lose it.
Morning guys. Could you use mirrors to bounce light around bin? And wouldn’t adding extra lights make it even hotter in there? Good luck solving your problem, I’m sure you will😊 Have a good day
Happy Sunday!!! I like the steps a lot. I like you floor ideal. Have you consider putting vinyl screen on the deck under the floor to keep bugs, etc out of the under floor?.
I love what you have done so far. On the stairs you have the print of the boards showing. If you are going to stain them it will come through. I would turn them around. The ones I see are near Danielle’s arm.
I wonder if putting foam insulation down in the frame of the floor or if that would cause moisture to get trapped? I have no clue how to build anything.
I don't know if anyone else can hear a loud beeping sound in the videos lately. What is it ? 😂 It's driving me crazy and its hard to hear what their saying.
