Mrs. Frank just shared this video with me, and I want to say this quite literally made my day! I'm so so glad you enjoyed Between Two Worlds, and well done at pronouncing my last name 😂. I personally always read the prologues, they're written for a reason. And I'm glad you enjoyed the surprise cover, I was excited for that one. Anyway, thank you so much again, I'm honoured you enjoyed my debut. Other authors you should check out are Verity A. Buchanan, Emily Hayse, Alissa Zavalianos, and Nadine Brandes!
We are both so delighted to hear from you! She loved your book! Thank you! I told her what you said about prologues….I don’t think she’ll be skipping any anymore! Lol 😂 Thank you for the other author recommendations! We will looks those up!
@@ourthriftyhomeschool You're very welcome, I hope you enjoy them! I own (and continue to buy!) many indie books since they're usually cleaner than traditionally published books.
Y’all should read the middle grade books “Whale of The Wild” and a “Wolf Called Wonder”. Both by Rosanne Parry, they were clean and had cute illustrations. Also in the back they had fun facts about wear the inspiration came from for the book.
Technically middle grade is ages 8-12….so the years between easy chapter books and YA books. But I definitely don’t think some of the heavy middle grade books would work for an 8/9 year old!
If I counted correctly you are the proud mother of 5 kids. I'm sure that you're a great mother and adore your kids. But as a former optician I'm curious as to when everyone in your family last had their eyes checked? I am well aware that you wear glasses and contacts and have had them at least since you were a teenager. That means that your kids have at least a 50% chance of needing glasses in the very near future if not already. And if their father also was a glasses wearer at an early age the odds then becomes 100%. Their eyesight is based on genes they received from either you or dad or both. So they should be getting their eyes checked at least every other year. So please just consider this a reminder if you haven't already done so. Nearly all of the on-line glasses sites offer children's glasses. Under 18 years of age, which they are all still under, requires polycarbonate lenses.
I am truly enjoying your book review videos. It is so difficult to find clean books for my readers as well as myself. We enjoy good stories without them being too “cheesy” and I feel like you all give great reviews. I just started a book per your recommendation from a previous video.
The Dawn Chandler books (I think there are two right now) by Eliza Noel is a clean middle grade read. Very cozy and by a Christian author. And I think someone mentioned it already but I must second it, Nadine Brandes! Sometimes deals with heavy topics but also a Christian writer and I love her books.
Great video. I now have even more books to check out for my daughter, and myself as I love reading MG. Is there a way you check book suitability before giving to your children? It can be tricky to find new authors and series that are not dark and nasty, or full of romance etc. My daughter loves mystery, fantasy and adventure, but I don't want her having nightmares or feeling anxious which books with evil and hopelessness can cause. I would love to know if you have a way of selecting appropriate literature.
That’s great! I’m so glad this was helpful ❤️ I did a video before that showed a couple tips on how I find clean books. I’ll link that below for you. If we’re at library, in a pinch I’ll just flip through the book looking for bad words and they usually stand out pretty easy. But those websites i mention in the video are helpful to do research on and see what the content is.
