The Florida Panthers end up beating the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals in game 6. Panthers will now face the winner of the Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars series. While the Rangers season is now over and we're going to be looking at offseason to hopefully see this team get a whole lot better.

The blessing and the curse of have a goalie like Igor he masks many of our shortcomings, we get blinded by the W column and don't realize how weak we are in areas that are vital in the playoffs.

yupp. Powerplay went stale which we were relying on heavily to score. Also, our D was not truly up to snuff and Igor really did mask that (mainly Trouba and Gus).

@@chronokenny8499i wouldn't say D were the problem, most of the pucks were lost by F's. Not to mention that they were unable to hold the offensive zone and mainly create score opportunities. When losing 2:0 it is expected to increase the shot total. That didn't happen.

The Rangers need to make some significant changes this offseason. Get rid of Trouba who was a complete liability in the playoffs, let go Roslovic, Wennberg, Kakko, and Zibanajed. Rangers need to get speedy, physical, and good wing players this offseason. This is something that the Rangers lacked in the Conference Finals of the playoffs this year.

Need to get Brady Tkachuk at all costs, Mika, Panarin, Kreider, and Trouba’s tenures as Rangers is up, this is as far as we can go with them, time for a retool, get Brady, Zegras, look into Marco Rossi, he’s on the block, Tanev in free agency,

It is quite simple really, the Rangers are not built for playoff hockey. They sucked 5 on 5 all season, and they banked on pretty plays, and cross ice passes on the power play, to win them games. Not a recipe for playoff success. Their top guys, Panarin, Zib, Fox, don't play a "playoff style" game. Their D is still young. K. Miller is still trying to learn the position, Schneider was a bit overwhelmed. Trouba and Gustafsson sucked and must go, especially Trouba. You can't have that kind of cap hit not only not helping, but actually HURTING your team! If not for solid goaltending they'd have been eliminated by Carolina.

The only question with the Igor Shesterkin situation, is, if he's too much of A Crutch that they are leaning on to really know how good or bad the rest of the team is & will they be able to afford him for The Years To Come, especially since he's not great in every game & had to be saved (Pun Intended) by the Seasoned Jonathan Quick in a few games around The Start of The New Year? We might be another King Henrik Lundqvist situation, in which we'll have to overpay him in his Declining Years, for the sake of getting better players. Let me know what you think

You're simply suffering from the President's trophy curse. As a Maple Leafs fan since the 1960s, I've never experienced this curse, so I can't say I feel sorry for you... The rangers had a great season, but the Panthers are nasty. I live in downtown Toronto, so my loyalties are with the Oilers, because #canadaneedsacup.

Simple….whats been wrong since 1994…size. Need to get larger to compete in the playoffs. Don’t take an Einstein to figure this sh*t out. Rangers have long time been obsessed with finesse. That fine during the season. You wanna win a cup you need WARRIORS, period. Give this dumb a** front office a choice between a finesse guy who could potentially give you above 20, maybe 30. Or a grinder with size that does the dirty work, they go finesse every time. This formula gives players and fans a long summer. Thought Drury would be different.

Too much dump and change and dump and chase instead of skating in with the puck. Can't dump and chase against a fast team. Too many passes into skates. Too many turnovers with weak passes instead of skating the puck out. Seemed like players were afraid to skate with the puck. Being forced out to the blue line on power plays. Got outplayed while the big guns were invisible cost the series.

My EXACT take away from this series. The dump and chase wasn't working... at all, but for some reason they kept at it? Also, yes they were playing wayyyy too far back to the blue line. They were going for the tip in goals way too often, that only works so many times. Definitely needed to carry the puck in alot more. Florida is too good digging pucks out along the boards, everytime we tried the dump and chase we were just giving them a free puck. Basically they were just HOPING to score on a Florida mistake instead of taking it TO them trying to WIN the game.

I agree the dump and chase against Florida is ineffective when you’re not a strong board checking team. The reason Rempe is useful with a strong team like Florida is when the Florida player is digging the puck out of the corner he has to be aware of getting crushed on the board by Rempe so most players will send the puck around the board quicker and that leads to mistakes…whereas the Rangers seemed to be aware that Florida was going to have players that will level them on the boards so they were the ones shooting the puck away and making mistakes that cost them. Also the PP’s and PK’s were awful..to many passes, no net front pressure and the main players had no desire to dig missed shots out of the corners..or keep Florida from crowding both sides of the net.

Thank you for covering our team and posting these updates dude. We got beat by the better team - there’s no candy coating it. Some bright spots to take away though… Igor is god tier. Trocheck is Mr. Clutch. Laf is a true first overall and a playoff gamer. Goodrow showed all the haters why we signed him. Offseason goals: We need to fill that RW1 with a Tom Wilson/Milan Lucic-esque forward. A tough gritty player that can get 60 pts/season who likes to hit. No offense but Roslovic, Wheeler or Wennberg are not gonna play that role. Maybe Cuylle takes that step next year? Doubt it. But wishful thinking. Either way LGR! We’ll work our way back to ECF and the Stanley Cup next year!

I said the trades we made by the deadline were some of the worst trades i have seen. I wish we kept kane for this year.

We got all of our deadline guys at a discount, and didn’t have to forfeit our 1st for what’s going to be a deep draft. We really need a hard nosed right winger who can score on that Mika-Kreider line. Kane would just be another Mika or Panarin. If we go through with a Trouba buyout, Reinhart would be brilliant signing. Its just questions of “if” and “how much”

Like kappo caca that's a bust and wait to build up another laffy in 3 years? Is this draft even promising? i haven't heard anyone in it except for the top 2 prospects. They should've went a little harder this year. And that right winger yeah we should've kept kane for that just for this year. But i do understand your point. The trades were a killer cause they did absolutely nothing.

Why is it that people choose to focus on “what went wrong” ? Perhaps nothing. The Panthers put together a great team; a team built for playoff hockey. Being a Ranger fan for more than 65 years I am disappointed that the Rangers were eliminated, but it was not because anything went wrong. Whether I like it or not Florida proved to be the better team. I guess that is what went right. I am grateful for the great season and playoff run the Rangers gave us this year.

Panthers are a great team but it's not the first time some of the stars haven't performed like you'd hope. I think it's both Panthers playing good defensively but Rangers not doing enough themselves

@@TrenurSports a player can only give what he has to give. Florida managed to collect the right players to get them to the final. It remains to be seen if they are the right ones to win the Cup. The Oilers won’t give it to them anymore than the Panthers give it to Edmonton. Buckle up for a good final.

@@tomfilipiak3511 you’re right. The playoffs are won in the battles in the corners and along the boards, a fly-by attempt at a poke check doesn’t cut it. When you don’t even enter the battle, you lose it by default. The same problem with the high priced talent on Toronto.

Panthers lost last year and used the off season to re-tool. Rangers need to use this off season to re-tool and hopefully emulate the Panthers’ success.

Thanks for the months of great content the Rangers community is the best and most unforgiving in all of sports. The Rangers had a defensive zone play issue all year. The power play was a big reason they were able to come from behind as much as they did. I hope they make the roster adjustments needed to get to the next level. Rempe needs to be coached into a solid playing winger going forward.

Great job all season with this videos. Igor masked a lot of warts on this defense all season. The fact is, the Rangers defense is sub par and has been all year. Stats are misleading. Trouba is terrible player and was absolutely exposed. He took the most penalties cause he got beat and is undisciplined. Miller is a liability and far too offensive minded. Lazy on skates and all he does is reach with his stick. He lacks physicality and our scrappiest defenseman Lingren is too small and is a human piñata out there. Mikkola out played them all. We can blame the offense all we want but when you can't get out of your zone how are these guys going to generate anything.

This is what happens when your goalie shows up but the majority of your team (aside from Trocheck and Laffy) doesn’t. Reminds me of all those wasted years with Richter (after '94) and Lundqvist. So many wasted opportunities.

God Laf was good during the playoffs. hope he takes another step next year after getting more experience from this run. Move on from Trouba and maybe Mika, add more gritty depth vets and I think we are cooking.

There will always be very high playoff hurdles to overcome to win the cup. Whether the Kings in ‘14, Tampa in ‘15 and ‘22, or Panthers now. Rangers always have championship-caliber goalie, but never the gritty top forwards or snarly defensemen that win championships. Loved this core over past few seasons, but obviously changes are needed. Drury has some serious work to do this summer!

Rangers are a one and done team. They tried too hard to win quick instead of trying to build a TEAM! Build a team to last with heart, speed and hard hitting D. Rangers are a bunch of finesse soft players. Good for regular season but not playoffs! If smart they would sell and start over. They should have learned from the Leafs!

Rangers have a solid core and a great goaltender hopefully Chris Drury can re took a bit this offseason and make this team better in the areas we clearly lacked once it got to the playoffs

Trouba gotta go this one is gonna make people go nuts but I would rid of zibanejad he was terrible and the problem is him and krieder they play a two man game how many different wingers in the last two seasons have they tried nothing works they either have to get rid of one of them or break them up.. they need to get a guy like Brady tkachuk Tom Wilson big grid guys with skill not a Ryan reeves.

Kreider, Zibanijed, Miller, Gustufson, others are just weak mentally and physically. Not gritty, not tough, no edge...add sloppy with the puck and you get this DISASTER.

Great Video, as usual. I don't think that they need to react so drastically. I think that they're going to have to Change some Bottom 6 guys, to get guys to step up & be able to go down & up in the lineup, as needed, in The Finals, after The Scorers help us in The Regular Season. Goodrow is gone for what ever we can get to clear cap. KK is gone. Traded bait to save cap and bring Otter up. Trouba could be sacrificed. If he is not gone, his captaincy is gone. Gustaffson is gone. Thankfully.

Tampa who had the best powerplay in the nhl could not get past florida's physical play, defense and forecheck. That's why the Rangers lost . And that's why Edmonton will lose. Defense always trumps offense in sports

It'll be real interesting to see what happens when Igor's contract is up. He'll have to make a decision if he wants to go down in history just like Hank and be a lifelong Ranger with no Stanley Cups or if he wants to try his hand with another team and maybe get his name etched on the Stanley Cup like he deserves. I would not fault him one bit for going to another team that actually has a chance. I've been a Rangers fan since I was 7 years old but I also call a spade a spade when I see it. This team is never going to win a cup again. Or if they do it'll be some fluke thing in like another 10 or 20 years. Almost every single year this team has more than enough talent on the roster to take it all. And every single year their top players just don't show up in the postseason and no matter how good they looked in the regular season, they look like a shell of a team come playoff time. Sam Rosen said in '94 "This one will last a lifetime"...... What we all didn't know at the time is that he was talking about the lifetime of the team. They really should change the team motto to all quit in New York.

What went wrong: 1) they played rempe, but there wasn’t anyone to fight….he was a wasted roster spot on the team,,,(lol) 2) they were man handled and bashed around by a more physical/superior team

The Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider that played in this series are the same great players that played all year making the Rangers the best team in the NHL all year long. Does it ever occur to anyone that maybe, just maybe the Panthers concentrated their efforts to keep these three great players from scoring? My opinion since I love the Rangers apparently more than a lot of Ranger fans on these threads cursing the Blueshirts. All year long the Rangers and the Panthers were lacking muscle a locomotive like Scott Stevens who would make you think twice before crossing their blue line. Rangers got Rempe, that was a mistake, he's still a boy in a man's body, maybe he'll get there in his future. The Panthers stepped up their hard hitting body checks VERY NOTICEABLY. Next season I hope the Panthers get a Scott Stevens prototype
