What were these cars doing in a Long Island wrecking yard in 2003?

I went to Bellport Auto Wreckers in 2003 with a friend to scope out a 72 Buick Skylark and look at what else was there! A 62 Chevy, 64-66 Mustang, 70-71 Montego, 73-74 Charger, plus more. Study those pics and see what other treasures were lurking there 21 years ago.

Years back, I spotted a 1980 Trans Am Pace Car in the junkyard. This was in New Jersey, but I believe the car spent some time near the shore in Long Island oddly enough. The owner of the yard offered me the whole car for $500 but I didn’t want to have a lot of junk hanging around so I bought a bunch of stuff off of it for $200. I cleaned that thing out and picked it like a turkey. Lol

I did something similar. Somebody years ago posted quarter panel end caps on eBay for the Charger. Wanted $10 and he was local. No one bid on them so I messaged him and said what else you got. He replied that he was stripping a 73 Charger to turn into an enduro racecar to run at Riverhead Raceway. I bought everything that he took off for $75. Only wished I could have nabbed the bumpers but he needed them on the car to get mangled in racing.....😥

That Charger was cool. In the early 2000s you could still find some good cars in the junkyard. I still do videos even if they don't do good eventually a few of them do well.

Yeah, I was real dumb not going back and buying up everything I could off of that car. I got lucky once where a local guy was tearing down a 73 Charger to turn into an enduro car for running at Riverhead Raceway. I bought a bunch of interior and exterior bits just to have as spares.

@@LongIslandMopars I got lucky when I was doing the wagon and found a 69 Coronet 4 door in the junkyard. I bought lots of parts off that car.

@@LongIslandMopars gotta grab the parts when you can and then if you don't need them they can be sold later.

Thanks! That's the Long Island Coronet R/T, right? Last time I saw it for sale, it was in Lindenhurst.

@@LongIslandMopars yes, This is the car. Bought on consignment from original owners family. It's a very special car for sure, and I have basically finished and fine tuned the restoration of the car to 100% factory stock.

@@mattgause3178 that is awesome. I have my dad's 66 Coronet 500 SE that he bought new. It's unrestored but in very good shape. I rebuilt the engine and transmission. Just a little 273 2bbl. Served our little family well and now keeps my 74 Charger company in the garage.

I hate when they put cars on top of each other . Some good saveable cars there.
@LongIslandMopars
@LongIslandMopars 2 месяца назад
Yep. I hate it too. I only had my Charger for 5 years back then and wasn't thinking hard enough to go back to the yard and buy parts off that wreck. My Charger only had 27k miles back in 1998 when I bought it. It was like new and I never put my h thought into accumulating spare parts until years later. 😕
