Aw, the lipstick-making reminded me of when I was little and my dad bought me a Barbie Lip-gloss maker that I'd wanted so badly. The results weren't quite so professional as the ones in the video ha but it made me so happy to make them for everyone.

most, if not all of the fashions were modest. most cultures allow arms and half of legs to be shown and it's considered modest because they're like the least sexual body parts. as for that outfit at 4:12 it was probably poorly made so the fabric was see through.

It wasn't modest but a lot better than the normal fashion week, at least you don't see nipples everywhere 😂

I agree with everyone that thinks the collections weren't good enough to be displayed on a major event like this. But I don't really think that the designers "half-assed" anything, rather that most of them are probably (and evidently) complete rookies at this, and they should develop their skills for a few more years until it's time for them to showcase their designs at such a major fashion show. This is in no way the designers fault though, but there should be some type of casting director at LMFW who decides wisely which designers get to put out their collections on the runway, since their designs are going to be in the limelight, representing modest fashion. I assume from Dina's story about how rushed the promo-vid was that the event was put together in a tight time frame, so I understand how that could've been a problem. I'm in no way writing this to bash the people behind the show, I'm sure they all worked super hard to get this whole thing together, but if we want to be taken seriously in the fashion industry as modest (and fashionable) designers, then perhaps it's better having the designers who are truly ready for it to show their collections, even if it will take a longer time for the whole thing to be put together. Still amazing to see such an event taking place at the Saatchi Gallery. I respect that Dina is being honest regarding the collections, as that will hopefully lead to some re-thinking and a better show next time! Anyways, love to all my sisters out there doing their best to fulfill their visions and represent us, keep it up xo

While some of these clothes really were immodest, others were modest, just not suitable for hijabis. I'm a Christian and to me dressing modestly is different than hijab. Showing most of your arms, legs below the knee, hair and neck is perfectly fine for me and most Christian women.

It really isn't fair to blame Dina for the failure of the "modest fashion world" to produce clothing that are appropriate to Islamic standards of dress. Even if what she does isn't considered "hijab" you need to look at her over all way of dressing. She shows a few strands of hair and an inch or two of neck, but THATS IT. The way she dresses is fashionable AND she still manages to be very modest and conservative. You guys are not being fair and most of you admit that you aren't even hijabis, so who are any of us to judge?

I don't think there's modesty in wearing a ton of makeup and wearing bright, skin-tight clothing. Some people would beg to differ, but I think we could all agree that showing our bare butts is not at all modest.

I know you were hating on the line, but can someone please tell me who the designer is because I LOVED it. Not all the outfits were intended for those who partake in full, physical hijab, but they were all way more conservative and modest than what the West is generally used to. Muslims aren't the only ones who partake in modesty, so I'm sure we weren't her only target audience (hence the detachable arms on that one dress). Regardless, a lot of these looks can be layered & I'm in loveeeeeeeeeee.
