Just a quick look at wheel and tyre fitment and the clearances of an untubbed and tubbed HZ Holden. This also Applies to HQ HJ HX and HZ. Mini tubbed and notched rails. 275/60r15 295/50r15 325/50r15
Awesome content! I have a coupe that is mini Tubbed to the rail and the rails straightened. I’m running a 26x12x15 on a 10inch rim. Perfect size for my combo. I also know of a car running a 295/50 on a 8.5 inch rim that fits very much similar.
Hi Mate, love you vids…..whats your experience with this set up……HQ tubbed to the rail only and 15×10, offset 0, 4.5” back space 275x50 tyre…..cars about to be tubbed to rail but doing my head in with rim size before purchasing them.
I must’ve watch this about six or seven times already are really good and informative I plan on doing a 295 tub myself I’m bit of a hobbyist welder, Do you have any Sill replacement videos plan for the future because not too many people of done that as yet for HQ WB That are any good anyway
Funny you say that, I actually have some sills I plan on doing this week, but I have some videos scheduled ahead of when that one will be up so you’ll have to keep an eye on the channel. New videos go up on Friday night every week.
Nice explanation, not that I'm doing it myself. I'm contemplating rolling a guard. Was hoping you had a bit of a demo in that one. Anyways, am sure there's a few vids out there.😆.

hi , the best idea would it not be to cut 100% rail out and shift it inwards and blend with steel work at either end ??? I assume your going to run coil overs which repositions them [spring and shock ] vs the stock setup . Shortened diff housing also ?? [to allow for wheel position and offset ] Also I suspect adjustable length bottom arms to shift the diff F/R and adjustable uppers to correct pinion angle . Going over 255 tyre sure gets complicated !!!!!
I wouldn’t be the first and certainly not the last to cut the rail how I have done. Many don’t do the reinforcements I have done either which I will be showing in later videos. Suspension at this stage will still be springs/shocks. I may look into fitting coil overs later on. Adjustable control arms and shortened 9” are a must.
Hey mate from my understanding you weren't alowed to modify the chassis rails well in Victoria that is. You can replace with modified rails to the same size or better. What's your knowledge about it?
Slowly catching up on your vids, thanks for sharing. With the tape and getting it straight, maybe a laser level could be used in future if you have one.
@@TheRestoShed yeah after I wrote it I thought wth was I thinking. Who has a laser level when restoring cars. That's why my 50th anniversary is still on a rotisserie and not on the ground and why I have a laser level because I'm doing house renos haha.
