my home was dark for years and the rooms are small. We finally saved enough money and 3 years ago we installed new floors, new paint, new kitchen and bathroom. I have neutral colors and white cabinets and I love them. My husband and his friend did all the renovations and the house looks so much bigger with the white and neutral. I add in color with pillows and lamps and other decor pieces. I would not like dark ceilings and never again will I have wallpaper!

So glad the warm cozy feeling is coming back. I actually never left it. I just waited it out in hopes it would return. I actually feel like traditional never goes out of style and is so much more appealing than the stark square corners and black and white decor. It felt like everyone was making their home look like a waiting room.

I love the traditional look. It feels comfy and homey. I don’t like the geometric type chairs, they look too childlike. I have two wing chairs that I’ve had for years. I use a lot of blue and white toile along with blue and white chinoiserie ginger jars. The woods are cherry and mahogany. I don’t think it ever goes out of style. Thanks for the update on the coming trends

I’m definitely granny chic. I love my dark wood, four poster beds, and refused to let them go. They never seem to go out of style. I have lots of living plants and suggest to check out the varieties of plant subscription boxes, if in doubt. You can find them online. It’s a great way to get started and comes with everything you need, including the soil and pots. The cost is very effective. Cratejoy was my go to, when looking for plant or succulent subscription boxes. Looks like my style is coming back!

They also call Granny chic 'Grand Millennial' style. I have the same living room for 28 years and I'm still loving it. I wish I had richer furnishings but I don't, can't afford it and never go with trends. I like traditional, cottage style but would love English manor style. I never painted a wood piece of furniture and never will. I love dark woods. I can definitely see painting the walls with a darker color for drama.

I actually had the toile in my living room to begin with in upholstery of my grandma’s Queen Anne low-back wing-back rocking chair plus sheer curtains. I added matching wall paper to my (semi- open concept) dining room and kitchen. A few years ago I moved it all to my bedroom. I am in the process of buying a different house and will be doing full-on Waverly toile in my whole bedroom with extreme English Manor / French Country styling. I’ve already found a ceiling fan with chandelier for my room!

I have never tried the peel and stick. Does it really not do any wall damage or require additional prep beyond peeling it off before re-painting? It looked like it had been there for many years. It was a nightmare.

I'm drawn to dark painted rooms and love our bedroom which is a deep steel blue gray. We've had that color for several years now and I'm not the least bit tired of it. The bad thing about wallpaper, which I found out soon after we did many rooms in our house back in the late 80's, is that it is so much more expensive than paint and therefore cost prohibitive for changing out the look easily, not to mention very labor intensive putting up and taking down. I think one wallpapered wall gives a nice, well thought out look. Thinking wallpapered ceiling could look fantastic in the right room.

Hi Leslie, love a home with arches. Makes spaces organic, soft and historically old world culture or santa fe adobe organic of the earth. Square room boxes can be claustrophic and unimaginative. The Victorian style also steeped in a time where furniture was made with intregrity and honor from artisans and wood grained pieces showing off a trees pattern is priceless and wood warms a room. Also the dark sultry colors or any color thoughtfully selected to fill a room with depth and or create the nuance of a room helps to draw people into a room where they feel comfortable and want to be. Painted ceilings are wonderful giving a room such character or whimy and can quickly transform a room to be elegant, magical, fun anything to your hearts desire & imagination. Textured art work can be really nice especially if it's minimalistic to counterbalance a lot of furniture and fabrics. Also if you have heavy wood furniture pieces throughout the rooms, then a heavy large statement colorful textured painting can balance the heaviness of a room vs several pictures all over the walls. Plants can be be a breath of fresh air and give the room life but one needs to commit to placing them in light or shade and keeping them groomed, healthy and even polished to make a room sparkle and feel refreshing. Not just to be an ornament. Plant walls can be gorgeous inside if created just right because after all plants are living an need to be looked after and well yes, talked to and included at least acknowledged that they are there giving us fresher air. Geometric chairs seem best if incorporated into a design that is minimal or shows off the artistic design and doesn't seem to me on the whole to fit into most decor that's not designed around that style unless..it leans towards a very eclectic vibe but still its all gotta work and could be fun. Whew!!! That's a response to most everything you asked to comment on. Overall, anything done where a home is built up by things collected that one loves give a home its authenticity and mirrors the persons aesthetic, their personality and shows who they are, those houses and homes are fun to visit and be in because it's unique with quaint and charming things to talk about. Talk about a good built in conversation starter for people getting together. Everyone loves to show & tell their collections and finds. 💙sorry this was long. And lets add in mood lighting! It's a must. Loved your video today and the one before it with you and Jason in the car. Hi Jason. Love you both.💖

I don't do trends but some I do love. My theme I love is cabin with bear, moose, etc and you just can't find pages that talk about that hahaha but I do genuinely enjoy your page and all your videos! Prayers for you and Jason on this Dementia journey I know it is not an easy one but you do it with such grace.

I am SO excited to hear this. I’ve always been drawn to the traditional/Victorian style … honestly, since I’ve been a child! I always was afraid my home looked like an year old woman lived here. I think my style is eclectic, traditional, vintage….I fell victim a bit to farmhouse, which I still like but am very tired of. Love the pottery barn looks, etc….but very cookie cutter as so many I know have it. I want to be unique and let my home express who I am. I did a navy blue accent wall in my bedroom with light blue walls & chinoiserie accents. So thrilled to hear the darker, more traditional romantic look is coming back! YAY!! Need help updating my kitchen though. Just painted it this weekend in a blue/gray color; very WedgeWood.

Loved your video. Like some of the dark colors and the English style of decorating.

Oh, so folks are actually going to get into design and interesting patterns and colors this year! What a wonderful shift! I'm so over neutral, sterile, boring sets and matchy matchy rooms. I have a degree in design and the past few years have been so generic and lacking personality, in my opinion. It's all subjective, of course. I think these new, old looks are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

I don't jump on the trends. I never care what is new in decorating. I do what I love, not what is the new thing. I don't want everything to have a went to Target look. Collected is me. I love a bright home, need the light. I can appreciate a black wall or room somewhere else, but don't want to live with it myself. Those dreaded beads. Several of my rooms have arched doorways. I love them. Love wallpaper, but not taking it down. So I avoid it. Live plants, too much work to keep in the right light and watered. I prefer a vase or two of fresh flowers.

Love the darker trend, and arches especially in bookshelves! Also I’d love to see the wingback chair get a slight alteration to look similar to these other chairs but I’m not into the geometric chair. Thanks for sharing this!!
