I think this has been the cruelest thing that has happened to Meredith on Grey's. To be trapped, with all those ghosts, all that pressure, being held accountable for it all. I'd have rather she died, because then she would have been free. Instead it's another series of watching her struggle. Bailey is allowed to look after her mental health, but not Mer? It's just incredibly unfair.

This left me emotionally destroyed. She lets him go because she thinks she deserves to be haunted for the rest of her life, that her ghosts will have to forever be her companions. Her voice betrays her. She looks at her younger self, the insecure, broken, suicidal Meredith, and even that Meredith is disapproving of her. I strongly hope Nick is not gone. Wherever they go, they can and absolutely must rebuild.

this is 100% the start of an important arc for Meredith and for Ellen's departure from the show. that's what I got from it

Mer and Nick have such a mature relationship and he really knows how to read her. And the fact she ran after him says everything. He won’t be too far away.

These flashbacks killed me but I can't stop watching them.

it’s so sad that mer is finally chief of surgery, which was coming for a long time, but now it’s not the huge accomplishment it’s supposed to be but rather a burden she has to take on because of other peoples’ decisions.. it’s not fair that everybody gets to be happy and go wherever they want and she has to stay in seattle where everything reminds her of the trauma she’s endured.. really tragic but truly fantastic!!

Greys anatomy has finally blown my head off!!! I’m so full of mixed emotions!! When they said that this episode was an emotional roller coaster, they weren’t kidding!!

She's given more than enough of her time & her life to Grey Sloan . The fact Everyone has just expected meredith to stay & not let her move on to a new venture is just disgusting.

I love Nick for Meredith. He has the essence of derek but has this self awareness and emotional intelligence which I think Meredith deserves for this new chapter of her life

I’m heartbroken for Meredith, everything seemed to be going so well for her this season and now she’s spiralled into this impossibly dark place. Webber got to her and now she feels like she’s her mother. She’s haunted on all sides and she feels like she can’t escape, like she will never know anything better than her blood or her trauma. Nick was absolutely right, he was in fact more right than Richard, who’s known her for decades. I feel that this isn’t the end of them, that Nick is the one who will free her from her ghosts. I will hate everything if he doesn’t come back.

This song literally makes me just cry and rethink about everything thats wrong within my life, i never been emotionally attached to a freakin show, greys anatomy changed my life, and it saved it, not to mention it started my will to even go towards the medical path. I have no words tbh how this show affected me and i love it so so much..

This episode felt more like a series finale than a season finale. Bawling!

This whole scene with the flashbacks and that song 'Chasing Cars' had me bawling my eyes out😭😭🤧.

I know this wasn't the focus of the scene but the way Scott speedman portrays nick marsh deserves more attention. all the little details like the way he sets his jaw when hes mad make his character 3D and fun to watch

This has been Meredith's happiest season and it breaks my heart that she ended it like this - overwhelmed with responsibilities she didn't ask for, resented by her father figure, pushing the man she loves away. I hope (I think) this isn't the end of Meredith and Nick. I do believe they're endgame. Even at her lowest, she regretted her words and ran after him.

This might’ve been the most emotional episode of Greys. After everything that has happened, everyone that has been lost, these flashbacks really brought some old feelings back.

This would be the perfect time for all the doctors from previous seasons who have left to find out Grey Sloan Hospital is in trouble and all of them just begin to show up to help and support Meredith. Bring back Addison, Callie, Arizona, Alex, Izzie, Christina, Jackson, April, Megan Hunt, Nathan Riggs, bring them all back for the 19th and final season, end it with the hospital getting the residency program back and everything in tip top shape and Meredith finally able to move on after saving the hospital that built her mom, her sister and her. That’s how it should end.

This finale was insanely amazing! I haven't felt this to Grey's for years and if ABC can put such an effort to make every episode of Greys, I am sure the ratings will go back and Grey's can go FOREVER.

This episode had me crying so much that my eyes are still burning. I loved it felt like the old GA, and it was a great 400 celebration still with drama and sadness 🥹

I am so glad that she called out for Nick at the end and is not willing to give up on him. And we know Nick will not give up on her so easily so we will see them together in s19. That what makes Nick so great. Like Derek, he knows and Understand Meredith and is willing to support her in anyway. Nick is hands down the best partner Meredith has beside Derek.

2:38 the pain in both their eyes, absolutely heartbreaking, i'm hoping that mernick get back together in season 19 bc he loves, cares, gets and understands her and i'm hoping he heard her and he turned around

It’s not fair what Richard said to her. It’s not fair that’s she’s being given no choice. The whole situation just sucks with the timing of the storylines. I want her to be happy and not be stuck somewhere that isn’t fulfilling her. And I hope her and Nick make up. It’s her defense mechanism to push people away when she’s feeling overwhelmed. Also it does seem though when she wants Richard to agree with her and he doesn’t, she rebels in a way and then she realizes her consequences after. She definitely sees that’s it’s been a pattern of hers. Hopefully she’ll maybe either learn her lesson or they let her finally be at peace and let her leave that hospital to be happy.

This ending... this show... these characters... 400 episodes and they still give us episodes like this.

When I say I was in tears, after the plane crash and Derek dying I never though this show could do it again but god. I really hope Nick and Mer are together still and she does go to Minnesota. She deserves to be able to leave without being chastised

Grey Sloan is not Meredith's responsibility, she does not have to fix what is broken. She needs to put herself first and what she needs, I hope that is what happens, that she chooses herself. I think April would make a great chief but maybe in partnership with someone else, I don't think it is a job you should do alone. I would love to see April and Amelia as chief.

Please let Meredith FINALLY be happy again with Nick. I hope that is where the story is headed. I love the idea of getting a second chance at love after great loss. Nick and Mer need to be endgame. He is perfect for her. He understands her completely and I think he's just giving her the space she needs and they will rebuild Grey Sloan together.

That voice over was 100% referencing Ellen's struggle to continue or stop the show

He’s the best guy any women can ask for. The humility and respect he has is truly adorable. He would drop Minnesota in a heart beat for her

Loved it. The flashbacks, but also that moment when she looks at herself. That looked amazing. The music behind it made it even more perfect. I kind of expect a time jump next season. All of the actors who ''left'' the hospital (Teddy, Owen, the residents, Bailey, Richard, Nick) have signed on for next season iirc, so it will be tough to get them all back within just one episode. At least with a time jump Richard has had enough time to travel, Bailey has had enough time to improve her mental health/focus on the family, Mer will have forged a new foundation with her sisters + Jo + Link + other actors who still work there, and Teddy/Owen will have had time to solve any issues with the cops. Starting to think next season will be its last; at least for Ellen. A season to rebuild the hospital; after which she leaves. The question is if the show will end when she leaves, or if they will try to move on without her. Always thought they would end the show if Ellen left (they always said that), but lately Ellen has indicated that there could be a future for the show without her.

I just finished watching and I’m sobbing so not only did Bailey hunt teddy and nick leave all those flashbacks and the music - chasing cars and everything IM SOBBING

Best finale I’ve seen. Incredible acting by everyone. Very emotional

It bothers me so much that they NEVER let her be happy, either with an important person in her life, they always push her away and make her look guilty, LET HER BE HAPPY

"Because an end of an era is easier said than done" And that is why it is difficult to choose and show an ending for this show. Ending it will really be the end of an era and they really need to go out with a blast (metaphorically) to stand up to the expectations that they have for themselves and that the fans have who have invested soo much time and emotions in this show. But I really think and pray that the 19th season is the last and they do go out with a metaphorical blast.

That was Meredith's farewell for us thank you Ellen Pompeo for these beautiful 20 seasons 😢❤

The way she talks to nick in this scene is pure Ellis, and really that’s Richards fault from the way he’s been treating her the last few episodes

Yessss Amelia and Kai are back together!!!!!! And that Meredith Scene broke my heart . So many memories so much love . I hope that Meredith finds what truly makes her happy she deserves it .

I think this is my 3rd time rewatching this scene and I’ve cried all 3. This feels like old Greys. And it’s incredibly sad. Meredith deserves better. They all do in some ways but her most of all. I hope next season wraps up her story in a way that lets her find the happiness and peace she’s been searching for her whole life

I don’t know how meredith isn’t downright depressed and given up on life. •Her Mom Died •Her Dad Died •George died •Lexie Died •Derek Died •Her Dog Died •She almost died from drowning •Was In the Plane Crash •Got a concussion from the bomb •All her best friends left(Izzie, Cristina, Arizona, Alex, Callie, etc.) •Gave birth while the power was out and almost died •Got beat up by a patient and had to have her jaw wired shut. •Got fired multiple times •Was in the shooting •Got COVID and was very close to death •Her best friend Andrew died And that’s just some of it

It was one of those episodes that hit you deeper than the others.

I mean this should have been the farewell that Meridith should have gotten.. I mean she literally was the show and what they did with her farewell episode is not even near this... It should have been about her... I wish they could do a better farewell for the iconic character 🥹♥️

I still think that mer and nick will be together again. Nick know her so well. And the fact that Meredith chase out for him prove that she truly loves him and don’t want to lose him. I still believe they will be end game

I stoped watching Grey's for a few months and recently began watching it all over again because I still believe that Izzie, George, Alex, Callie and Christina were the best part of Grey's Anatomy.

This is the first time for me at least they've shown real memories actually showing Katherine as Izzie about damn time.

The double standard made me so angry! Everyone else is allowed to leave and grow but when Meredith tries, it is a problem. Whenever the woman from the council said Meredith is leaving, I kept saying "she is allowed to go". To trap her like this, making her feel like she is a traitor, a sell out, is cruel.

It is not fair to Meredith. She was so happy this season and I think it's because she was half of the time in Minnesota, where there's no ghosts or things that remainded her of all the tragedies she had to live through. And she found Nick, with whom she is able to be herself without any expectations and to feel safe, comfortable and happy. (I love Derek, but I think that even with him Mer at some points couldn't be truly herself) And she is allowed to leave Grey Sloan and she should. But now, when everything is falling apart, Bailey decides it is OK to leave without notice (even though she is mad with everyone about leaving or not giving it), Richard decides to travel with Catherine and Owen and Teddy run away and the hospital is left on Meredith's shoulders and NO ONE asked her if she wants it or if she is okay with it. And AGAIN everyone left except for Meredith who had decided it is best for her to leave long before. In this season only Nick, Amelia, Zola and Addison really supported Mer, everyone else just judged her and told her she is disloyal and doesn't care about the hospital just because she wants to leave and start over, which is understandable and, I would say, even necessary for her. Anyway, I hope and believe that Mer and Nick will get back together and will be an endgame.

I had to pause it when I was watching this part to really soak in those clips I’ve watched in the past. This show saved my life, as cliché as it sounds. It was my free therapy. Thank you Grey!

What if whatever happened in these 2 episodes is a setup to bring back all the OG characters. They come, help Meredith and bring back the residency program to it's original charm.

This is the Greys Anatomy I know and Love. These last 2 episodes where so amazing! I love the effort they made to make these last 2 episodes so great! I wish this is the beginning of the Greys we know and Love coming back. This is Great TV. Thank you shonda for letting us know that there is still hope for this amazing show. I love this show endlessly. I love every single character both the past and the present ones. I can’t wait to see what is in-store for Mernick and the fate of Grey Sloan! The 400th episode brings back the chill and the feel I get from GA in the past. Thank you!

I'm very happy for Kai and Amelia, it was a beautiful reunion. I'm also gutted for Meredith and Nick. I knew something would happen but it's borderline cruel to leave us with the doubt like this. I hope he stays. She loves him and the hospital needs him.

damn this season finale was heartbreaking. almost everyone left i don’t even know who will we see next season. teddy and owen are pretty much gone, bailey quit and who knows if she’ll come back, schmitt and the other residents don’t work and GSM anymore either and richard is traveling now. I hope they bring back Callie, Arizona, Cristina (maybe??), Alex, Izzie, April, Jackson or literally any other old character to support Mer :(

I lost it during that montage. it's not fair. Meredith has given her entire career to Seatle Grace/Seattle Grace-Mercy West/Grey Sloan Memorial. She's made a bigger impact there, than Ellis, Richard, and Bailey put together. And because she wants to move on (like every single one of her colleagues did,) she's called "disloyal," and is subjected to a barrage of gaslighting and emotional manipulation and blackmail. NO ONE is more loyal than Meredith Grey. She better get her happy ending.

This is such an amazing continuation of Meredith’s story. We have seen her from intern to chief of surgery at the same hospital, go through so much all in one place. And this scene just builds on that. We see this character that has endured so much and who goes from living up to the place she is to being held back by it. To see Meredith Grey and Ellen Pompeo leave for what else the world has in store for them, I say fair well and God bless. Neither of them owe us a thing ❤❤

This scene of Meredith reminded me of old Meredith, the troubled one, the one who has issues and won’t let anyone in, just kept pushing Derek away.

I love that the flashback is backwards which leads us to the beginning of everything and we see all the important moments of Mers life with christina, the 007 on her hand, the heartbreaking scenes and all important and heartmelting MerDer moments😍 As a really big fan, you just know every episode of these moments... i miss the old times😭

Seeing Lexie was heartbreaking. the most tragic and traumatic moment in the entire show.

The way she said "You really just should go" @ 2:39 is a mix of the pain bottled up but hoping that the one she's pushing away would just stay. 🥺😭

It's Nick's embodiment of Derek in this scene for me! My gosh, he's so different from him, but the exact thing she needs like when she had Derek. The grounded, strong, yet mellow pillar in the storm for her. I can't wait for season 19 because this finale shattered me!! 🥺❤ The flashbacks and soundtrack were just simply OD! #400thEpisode

this is so upsetting mer is being constantly belittled and called selfish because she wants to leave which she has EVERY right to do but instead bailey the most selfish person quits and gets to leave straight away even though mer has wanted to leave for ages and bailey just dumps it all on her and dont get me started on richard. Nick and Meredith are endgame. The thing about being the Sun is that it is bright and warm and brings life but it is also fire and can burn things. Nick understand that you can’t tell the Sun what to do; it does as it pleases. The only person that can decide Meredith’s future is Meredith.

Anyone remember when Meredith had a light blue surgeon suit instead of dark blue? well as much that Meredith goes back to all those memory’s she spent for since 2005 since the first series came out until probably this series an end of an era as i wish it still goes on😕😕

I just love how they’re showing us different real life endings or breaks rather than just killing the characters off in some kind of way.

Out of all of the people in her life; Cristina Yang and Derek Shepherd have been in Nick's shoes more than once in years of encouraging Meredith to move on.

Meredith is finally the Chief, This is something I did not know I wanted. So many people have became Chief, it was about time Meredith also took the position.

This episode/part reminded me so much of season 9 and 10 greys for some reason and I loved every second of it
