What would you like to know about the coronavirus pandemic? #askDerrick

I am a little worried that the human touch will be gone forever. I like receiving hugs from people. I enjoy affection. Physical affection. I don't want that to die. Especially as a very sad and lonely person, virtual stuff does not help me. Getting love symbols though emojis only does so much for me, but doesn't feel good enough if i am really sad. If i am sad, i want a hug. I want to receive real affection and feel the human touch. Comfort is a thing everybody needs and after the pandemic, everyone is gonna need this badly. I may be a young person, but i crave comfort and support from REAL people and not a computer screen. I want to cry in the arms of friends and family. I want to hear the voice of another person. I want people to be real. No more fakeness. Virtual stuff can't replace the one thing humanity needs and that is real time and experiences .

Every country should atleast start to manufacture essential items in their own country like medical equipments.

I hope there will be no more CCP.

Please don’t make the single and childless people as unfriendly people now. Enough suicides in this much battered world.

Probably some countries will not trust other countries as supplier if they have an unaccountable government.

I agree with Herr Bregman ! I've reached out to my friends here in the US who have been laid off, to make sure they have enough money to eat next week with every paycheck I get. Learned how to make masks with a sewing machine using HEPA grade vaccum bags and donated them. Even bought a game for one that just didn't have extra income... Now if only our country & private healthcare organizations would be brave enough to show us the grim reality, I think people would be even more inclined to find ways to help. Its counterproductive to silence and obscure what is going on... helps contribute to people's doubt about the seriousness of it. Which i'm sure is intentional.

One thing I have to point out is that here in the US, what you describe as "neoliberalism" is called "conservative" or "right-wing". The people most referred to as "liberals" here are the people who are calling for the benefits for all, less of the individual profit and more of the humane inclusion of all citizens. I have to say that in our case if you look at who is in charge(the president, the upper governmental agencies and the corporate industries) what you see is what you get for the atmosphere in the US right now. In our country "corporations" are considered "individuals" with rights and allowed input into public policy. It is not going well here.

It's interesting to come back and view this in 2022. We've seen a back and forth of selfishness and selflessness, cooperative behaviors and vocal displays of independence.

We see selfishness during a crisis because that's what our paradigm necessitates. Competition, individual success, isolationism, those are all virtues our capitalistic systems reward and we've been so thoroughly immersed in that our whole lives that it's radically changed how we treat each other when stressed vs how peoples who didn't live under this paradigm would. But even in times like these, you see our human nature for compassion and caring shining through and people helping each other. And you see the correlation where the people who are most invested into our capitalistic paradigm and who support it the most have been consistently among those bringing unrest during the crisis and refusing to help others, meanwhile massive donation chains to help those who are struggling have gone around in communities that have been trying to divest our world from neoliberal dogma. It's more than just politics, the system we buy into and are prepared to live under changes our psychology. If we've prepared our whole lives to live for ourselves and buy into the zero-sum game our economies have become, that will influence how we react when hit with stressors, it becomes us.

If there is no reported cases then surely that means theres a very low chance and that our antibodies can make us immune. At least for some period of time. Yes we have to because you can get it again . We can get it again!!! On January i got the virus 🦠 i end up on the hospital I couldn’t breathe then i got better February was well but on March i got it again. Now April i am fine but because i haven’t gone outside. Even i am better the are times I feel sick and have some symptoms i know that the virus still on my system until there is not a vaccine i have to wear a mask 😷 when i go outside
