A woman making more money DOESN'T make her more attractive. A woman working part time at Taco Bell can be more attractive than a woman that has a degree and makes $100,000 per year. A woman is more attractive/appealing by her physical appearance, morals, her past, how she behaves (not posting provocative/revealing pictures online, no tattoos, etc.), and if she is fair to the man in the relationship. Working in schools for 14 years, I am surrounded by women that have degrees, make decent money, and have benefits/retirement/health care, etc., and almost none of them are attractive/appealing to me because of their appearance and their morals/past.

Hypergamy only refers to dating up in socioeconomic status, not looks or other traits, at least that's the general definition used in literature. Men date/marry across and down in socioeconomic status, while women date/marry across and up. However, that doesn't mean men necessarily get the worse deal. For a woman to marry/date a guy significantly higher in socioeconomic status than her, she generally dates down in physical attractiveness. Otherwise the higher status guy has little incentive to commit to her, let alone marry her. Men instinctively leverage their social capital and bank account to get sexual and reproductive opportunities with women of higher genetic quality(hotter women).

Hard decision to watch this. I've seen these sex workers many times before. They are very smart, educated and not unattractive in a physical sense. There was a study where they looked at speed dating events (yes, since it was speed dating, so essentially "real world" data, the sample size was shit, but no sociology/psychology research is good to begin with). The set-up was they would talk to multiple people for a couple of minutes each and then afterward mark each potential partner yes or no as to whether they would be interested in a second date (really a first one since all they had done so far is talk for a few minutes). But they tried this with varied group sizes. One set of people would be there for a short time and meet 7 people while another group would be there for a much longer time and meet 20 different people. So, men said "yes" more than women did, but we all already knew that. But the important part was that men did not change based on how many people they met. If the average man said "yes" to 30% of the women in a small group, the average man would also say "yes" to 30% of the women in a larger group. But for women, this wasn't true. The larger the group they had to select from, the smaller the percentage they said "yes" to. When meeting just a few men, the women were still more selective than the men, but they were almost reasonable. But the higher end, they were only adding 1-2 men over what they were accepting at the lowest numbers. Men were capable of saying "is this person good enough?" independently of whatever else was going on; whereas, women seemed to only be able to say "who is the best here?"

It's not a correct interpretation to claim that because women make their own money, they don't care about resourceful as relates to men providing it. The error is that the genes don't know she has her own money. It's still the same genetic behavior driving her to seek men with _more_ resources than she has access to. Her having more of her own just raises the bar that genetic bahavior is driving her to find a man with more than she has, which is now so high that fewer people men surmount that bar.
