Every average golfer fantasizes about how much easier the game would be if they just were able to drive the ball like a Tour player. Golf Digest put that idea to the test. PGA Tour player Joel Dahmen and Digital Editorial Director Sam Weinman (an 11 handicap) play 18 holes in which Dahmen hits all of Weinman's drives from the blue tees, and Weinman hits all of Dahmen's from the back tees to see how they each fares experiencing the game from a new perspective. Would a mediocre player suddenly be able to rattle off birdies with just a wedge into many greens? Could one of the best players in the world still salvage holes playing from way back in the fairway?

That course is immaculate. Those fairways, greens, and tee boxes are groomed to perfection. I have never seen such a smooth, uniform, saturated, soft, eye pleasing green masterpiece of a course.

I very much enjoyed watching you two, great job! I caddied for 13 years and it always gives me a chuckle when I hear pro's talk during a round ( keeping it positive on what they want to do ) vs what armatures ( always talking about how bad they are or what the worst shot could happen before they hit the ball ). As a caddie I always remind them of everything they do right and never mention anything bad. Example" after my golfer hits it short of the green. "great shot, with your short game should be an easy birdie"

Couple of thoughts: 1) Dahmen is a great guy , was great on the netflix series - rooting for him. 2) Is Sam Weinman the old version of Roman Roy?! 3) 11 Handicap..... hmmmmm 4) That course is sensational - what a piece of earth.

11 handicap… doubt it. It baffles me how people claim they have X handicap, but will take every 5-footer as a gimme. You never learn to putt under pressure if you take gimme’s. You also don’t learn how to resurrect a bad round of golf.

Sam might be an 11 at a very easy, flat, short public muni style course...but he's probably an 18+ on a course with any amount of challenge / bunkering. Need to get that hard cut under control.

If I could hit drives like pros, I would shoot around par all the frigging time. I shoot about a 36/37 average on my 9 hole course (par 35). But we have 2 par fours I can not reach in 2 and the par 5's are kinda long but being able to hit 270 - 300 yard drives would be a game changer for sure.

Get steep in bunker n don't be afraid to go through sand ... n days you struggle close club a bit to avoid staying in bunker.. can't expect to hit pro shots everytime.

Putting is a part of the game where you can actually be as good as a tour pro. Sadly, most golfers beat seven shades out of the balls on the range but ignore the putting green on the way out. For every hour you spend on the range you should be spending two practising your putting. Same applies to chipping.
