with the vacation rental, can you not still rent it from/or to yourself for the market prices?

Thanks for the question. Because the IRA is involved, you cannot use the rental for personal use. This would be considered a “self-dealing” prohibited transaction.

Thanks for the question. This is possible - the IRA can send funds to a brokerage per your direction. You just have to ensure that the brokerage firm can allow an account in the name of the IRA, and that your IRA custodian can permit this activity.

Can we loan money to, buy property from, etc to an irrevocable trust wherein the IRA owner is the Grantor and children are beneficiaries by the Trustee is third party

Hi, that would not be possible; it would be considered a prohibited transaction, as the trust is a disqualified person. Any entity, including a trust that is owned 50% or greater by disqualified persons is considered a disqualified person. Family member disqualified persons include you, your spouse, children, parents, grandchildren, and grandparents.

@@equitytrustcompany But the trust is IRREVOCABLE. Neutral trustee with 100% power, grantor (IRA owner) gave up all rights to the assets, children are beneficiaries IF the neutral trustee decides to distribute funds at his sole discretion and doesn't change beneficiaries - also at his sole discretion
