Omg this is so helpful! I’m 16 and I want to work in fashion, but it’s so difficult to find a position that is reasonable and enjoyable. Hearing you talk about everything you’ve learned about these jobs gave me a lot to think about and I don’t feel quite as lost. Thank you!!!
Well what did you decide? I'm assuming you're 18 now my sister is also 18 I'm 33 my goodness. This used to be my dream but now I'm thinking about coming back to it
Thanks for sharing! I'm 26 based in SATX and am trying to go back to school for fashion merchandising + business administration or marketing. I went to school for biology and dropped out because I did not want to go medical and since then, worked in advertising/marketing for 5 years. I'm so excited to finally take the leap :)
little notes for myself (ignore) - different career options with fashion MERCHANDISING degree - talks about how this degree can helps you understand the industry to pursue a self-made brand or product - many options i like - can clash with my individualistic values - job paths can change depending on promotions and personal choice
Hola! Hi! I'm Nerea, 29, an Argentinian living in L.A., CA. This is the first video I watched of you. I work in fashion retail and am trying to move to a visual merchandising role with the possibility of moving to another country soon. Thank you for the information. It was so full of content and ideas and examples. Thank you!
this video was so helpful i’m 15 and wanted to work in the industry my entire life but never knew how to go about attaining that dream. my sister is going into college this year and it sparked me to start doing research
Thank you for making this video! I’m 22, living in California and I am currently on the path of receiving my fashion merchandising associates degree! This eases my mind a little bit more knowing the branching of merchandising itself. This video is very helpful and easy to understand, thank you!
This gave me a broader overview of fashion merchandising, thank you for sharing! 22 living in Texas currently thinking about switching from fashion design to merchandise. Aspiring to become an entrepreneur and one day create my own brand.
This was very helpful since I’m going to major in Fashion Merchandising at Liberty University starting this fall and this really solidified that for me. Thank you
Hello Alison! My name is Hanna and I’m from Brazil. I currently live in Boston and I am majoring in fashion merchandising. Loved your video so much. Thanks for the content
I am 18, from California and I am very passionate/expressive with fashion. I actually love European fashion a lot and also western streetwear, Virgil Abloh inspires me a lot as well. 🙏🏽💫
girl you explained all of these so so well!! I’m also a fashion merchandising major at wayne state university in detroit! I’m a sophomore (20) and i’ve been debating my career choice lately! would love to connect and talk fashion babes!!❤️
Hi Alison, my name is Jaylah. I am 21 years old and I am studying Fashion Merchandising & Design. I plan is to do a Retail Sales Associate because I am looking for a job, then I will focus on doing handbags for Fashion Selling, then do a blog. Once I graduate to get an Associates Degree, I will take a break on school to stay focus on those three things for now. My major is Fashion Designer, I haven't focus on my business just yet since I am focus on school and other things as well, but maybe I wanted to do Fashion Merchandising, but I am passionate about Fashion Design. I still have a lot of time to think about it. 😊❤️
Aw! Hi Jaylah. You seem so driven and passionate about fashion, you came to the right place! Everything will happen just as it is supposed to, i am so proud of you!
hii i am new to your channel and I just wanted to say that I genuinely enjoyed watching your video. You have a really strong voice, way of talking and appearance through the constant eye contact you hold which makes listening to you very interesting and enjoyable!!
I really appreciate the information! Thank you so much for sharing. I work as a visuals merch manager so I can totally relate about visuals merchandising being your favorite part! :)
Even with my degree it’s been pretty hard to land a job in my field. I was able to be promoted from a sales associate to a merchandiser through a company i was working for but trying to branch off with a different company ive been unsuccessful
The industry can defintely be competitive, and covid has also had quite the impact on the job market. fingers crossed things look up soon! Best of luck to you.
I'm Marliee turned 39 years young from Miami Florida .😅 and I'm currently an esthetician and managing an independent medspa. However, i dont know if i want further my career in skincare. Im looking towards more of an independent, fun, enjoyable, flexible schedule and not be in a very saturated field. My mind is creative, and I always aim on doing hands on creativity and visuals, but I can't pinpoint what I would like to do as for a career. As I was going through my research, I found another job in the retail/ visual merchandiser position and caught my attention. I didn't know there were such things as a position in visual merchandising. Anyways I'm here to look for more in-depth experiences and knowledge to see if this is something I should put my time in researching and investment in a degree. Wish me luck!
Very well spoken. I took some classes in college a few years ago, and I enjoyed them. It’s interesting how I learned more about the processes in business, than from the business school. I don’t know if it’s because of a more “specific” major or what. Either way I think it’s important to state that it is very similar to a business degree, and way of thinking.
Thank you so much for making this! I always knew I wanted to do jobs like this, but could never figure out exactly what they consisted of. I have never been able to paint a clear picture of what exactly this degree had to offer, but now I do... thanks to you! So thank you so much! (also I think you said you went to UT, and I was wondering if you were talking about University of Texas bc I am interested in going there next year)
Hiii!! I am 14 and taking College and career and we are looking at colleges at the moment. I live in Texas and I really want to pursue fashion!! This video has helped me a lot thank you so much ❤️❤️
hey Alison, just graduated from UNT with the same degree. how do we incorporate what we learned from our degree into our resumes? also how/where are you now with your degree? hope all is well
Hi, I'm 21 in 1 month and i'm from England 🤍 and actually starting my job as a Fashion Merchandising Assistant in a few weeks just got the job a few days ago and i'm actually so happy!! 🥺 I have a degree in Fashion Business Management, Thank you for making this video! this is really helpful ☺️
@@bacyardjam7043 I don't think you need a Bacherlors to get into Merchandising. Some companies look for people who's very passionate in it and the job that i applied for was an entry level role which means it doesn't require experience. I think like what matters is that as far you are aware of the merchandising world and what they do then i don't think you'll need a bachelors. But yes, i do have a bachelors. :)
Hi Alison! I’m a sophomore at University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. My major is Digital Media Studies & I just made my minor Fashion Merchandising. Not sure what ima do with both but I know I’ll do well lol
You look freaking great 😍 I’m 29, live in Texas!! I’m closing on my house like next week!! I need an amazing outfit, will you HELP me!!? Love your style 🤩
I am 19 years old.I want to work in the fashion industry, but not as a fashion designer . My areas of interest are fashion marketing, luxury brand management and strategic management. Is it possible for me to do masters in these subjects ,even though I am pursuing an English Lit degree? Also, does it require any sketching skills?
Hello! I'm not really interested in working for another establishment, but rather starting my own business. I'm particularly interested in starting an athletic/athleisure type of thing. Do you think fashion merchandising and marketing would give me an edge for that particular goal, or would it be best to look for something else in the business department?
Hi there! I think it really depends on the industry you are aiming to launch your business. If it's clothing or product related, a fashion merchandising degree could be very beneficial!
Question if I wanted to start creating my own hoodies, T shirts, shorts, stuff for starters jumpsuits all etc what would I need to pursue fashion merchandising or design by itself
Hello, thankyou so much for this video it’s really helpful. I got a clear view about what fashion merchandising is. I’m 20, from Mumbai, India 🇮🇳 currently pursuing in BMM ( mass media) and working as a fashion model. I was actually planning to do a PG course in Fashion but was really confused, one of my friend who works in Marks and Spencers, London suggested me this course. Can you tell me which is the best university for the same? Thankyou♥️
In my view, merchandising is a business major I mean its under business. One of my high school classmate is studying Apparel Manufacturing and Merchandising and it's under business degree "BBA". Btwn I'm 20 majoring in business administration and will specialize in banking and finance... so no connection to fashion ^-^ but I love this industry and I can still work in it.
I’m 17 and starting my senior year in high school. I live in PA. If I wanted to start my own fashion company online and boutiques, what should I major and minor in?
Hey, Anas from this side I am from India and I'm working as a merchandiser assistant in a local company past 3 months. and my salary about $150 per month but the interesting part is I didn't do any kind of course or degree of any university. they said if you have experience you don't need to do any degree. but I want to come abroad in next couple of years as a fashion merchandiser. what did you say? should I do degree or not. pls reply , I really need your respond. and I'm 18.😅
My name is Linda I'm 71 now but back in the '80s I went to school and got my passion merchandising degree and I just would like an ID so I can go to buy clothes for myself not for sale at the outlets
I'd like to know the scope of Fashion Merchandiser and trend forecasting jobs in New York City before I pursue an associate degree program in fashion buying and Merchandising this Fall 2021. Could you guide me to better understand the qualifications and skill set required to break into the fashion industry as I’ve recently moved to New York City - Manhattan . To give you a brief background about myself I hold a bachelor's and Master's degree in Finance and have a dynamic experience of more than six and half years in Regulatory compliance laws with multinational banks in India. Alongside I’ve closely worked with my family- owned fashion boutique for several years and that’s how I developed an interest in business side of fashion instead of design. Please tell me how can I get in contact with u? Thank you for such an informative video😀
Hi, Pauline! I say that because it is by far the most competitive career path within the industry. Many individuals want to become buyers, and oftentimes if the buyer is not meeting an organizations expectations, they will be let go. For many organizations the turnover is quite high, however, it really depends on the company/ buying department, etc. Don't let this discourage you, sending you all the good vibes, you've got this girl!
I’m more of a supply chain person. If you can get into Planning to start that can help. Also if you start maybe outside of Fashion companies, but get into buying for just a year or so, you can have a better chance of the transition as you would have experience.
Hi. very helpful vedio you made.thank you. My 4 year undergrad subject was B.Sc in Textile Engineering from Bangladesh.now i am working as an apparel factory merchandiser from the last 8 year in my country. I am very much interested in Fashion Buying & Merchandising Master’s program. can you please advice some suitable collage or University in New york specially for international studen. and how is the job market for product merchandiser or development merchandisers?
Hey a year later. I am 17 and I have a clothing brand. would this be something good to help me with my career down the line cause I already do most of this stuff!
Yes you can. Outside of fashion that is normally more of a “supply chain” degree career. Usually considered more “prestigious”, just meaning it’s more common to work from being a Planner and then going into Buying.
Hi! I'm Neha from India 🇮🇳 i wanted to do fashion merchandising in USA 🇺🇸 can you please suggest me from where can I do this degree which university and which state in USA is good
Hey I am 26, Merchandiser from india with an experience of 4 years in total. Can I get any opportunities in USA with work visa sponsorship, so that I can migrate there and settle?
