I got $400 on my Amex Cash Preferred. Even at $95 it basically covers that fee for 4 years (one way to look at it). The 6% back on grocery especially if you will be close to the $6000 limit easily pays for the card annually. Hack too if you don't spend that much on grocery...add a gift card every time you go to the grocery store to your cart. You get 6% on it too as it is mixed in with groceries (I buy $25 Airbnb cards almost every trip and stack them for future use).

Once you have a hard pull, your first Amex card, they don’t do another hard pull for other cards you apply for because you have a relationship with them.

I got the Gold card last year and last month I got a pre-approved email for the Blue Cash Preferred. I had no preset spending limit on the Gold card and they gave me a $30k limit on the Blue CP. when I checked my “spending power” on the Gild card it was also approved at $30k. Not sure if third works the same for everyone, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Wow thank you very much, very informative video. I’m new to the whole credit scene, I’ve been building up my credit for about 2 years now and it’s been great! I was wondering if you knew how Amex upgrades work? I have the normal Blue Cash Everyday card. I logged into my account and it says I may qualify for an upgrade to the Blue Cash Preferred? Will it hurt my score if I upgrade or if I get deny for it?

If it's not a hard inquiry, then your score won't be affected. I would call and ask a rep for more details. They're usually pretty good at teaching how their internal system works. Welcome to the channel Enrique 😀

Hey man! I had the regular Blue Cash Everyday card and I had an upgrade too. I called them and upgraded over the phone! It’s not a hard inquiry, your limit, & APR will remain the same. I can’t wait to get it in the mail. I should be receiving the new card any day now. 👍🏽

A $95 fee is only $7.91 a month. AMEX is giving you cash back which pays for itself.

Well I just got it because I'll be joining Uber as a driver and expect to be @ the gas tank quite a bit more regularly now. With that I also got the benefit of 6% on entertainment. I've never paid for music, movie/tv show platforms and I'll be joining now to keep the clients music ad free.

Yeah, I dont understand hard inquiries. Soft inquiries should be the default. Maybe put in place some stipulation that every 5 soft inquiries requested by the consumer will result in a hard inquiry. that way people aren't being penalized for being curious but still have some restrictions. As far as the effect on credit goes I mean. Make it to where a soft inquiry gives all the necessary information to the lender so that soft inquiries could be the default, and keep the 5 soft for one hard rule in place to keep consumers from going crazy with applications. idk

Costco is under a strict contract to where they only accept Visa credit or Mastercard debit. No AMEX. I learned this the hard way 😭 which kinda helped nudge me to get the CSP 😇

The thing I dont like about this card is the statement credit. I'd rather be able to have that money go into checking account as cash back.

maybe I am thinking about it wrong, but when I got my $400 sign up bonus (which came as a statement credit), I just took $400 out of my bank account and set it aside as if I had gotten cash back

Last month I tried to sign up for the Blue Cash Everyday Card but I was declined because of too many inquires. Today I get pre approved for the Blue Cash Preferred Card but I canceled the application. Then I tried the Blue Cash Everyday again like I did last month but was declined. Wonder why their willing to accept me for the Preferred Card but not the Blue Cash Everyday?

American Express has been amazing for me. I recently got my 10th card with them. I have had the Blue Cash Preferred card for almost 10 years since April 12 when this card was very similar to the Blue Cash Everyday card & the annual fee was $75. I am glad the rewards changed to what they are now from when I got the card. I currently have 5 credit cards & 5 charge cards which 3 are personal cards & 7 are business cards & I have 13 different cards in my 12 1/2 year relationship with them since Sept. 09.

When you buy gas and groceries, where do the rewards appear? I’ve been using mine for over a month and nada. If you don’t know, I’m going to have to ring them up. I specifically got it for the 3% back on gas ⛽️

The rewards post when your statement cuts. On the preferred you can redeem them towards a statement credit once you have at least $25. If you click on rewards in the app.

I got my BCP in December and I can tell you that I had the same question. My rewards finally showed up about mid February, around 60 days in. I'm still waiting for my $300 sign up bonus because I already hit the spend threshold. Just hang on, you'll see it soon.

Interesting. I know usually after payment is processed after 5 business days, it’ll pop up how much reward dollars you’ve earned, then after your billing cycle, it’ll generate the reward dollars you’ve earned for the month. I’d recommend calling just in case 🤘🏾

@Domonique Daniels in the app, you don't see it until it's available to post to your account. When you view your account online, you can see a running total within a day or two of making the purchase. This card is awesome

So far love my Amex BCP. Got it in Nov 2021. Obviously my go to grocery card, the card will pay for itself if used regularly. However, the ability to only get a statement credit kinda sucks so now I am looking at getting Amex Gold or Chase Sapphire Preferred to combo up

People always love to point that out but forget that Groceries isn’t the only reason why people get this card. Streaming is also 6%. My total streaming comes to about $130 a month that’s $93 a year in cash back. Practically covers my anual fee. So the 6% on Groceries and 3% gas is a huge benefit for me!
