Happy Liberal in the movie she isn't really just a child made with Logan's stolen semen. (there is a deleted scene I don't want to think about) in the comics though the sample they were trying to clone had a damaged Y chromosome so they replaced it with a second copy of the X chromosome after 22 failed attempts.
I agree. Still, seeing Logan fuck X-24 up afterwards was such a satisfying moment. I know he ultimately loses the fight, but when he put his claws through X-24's neck I felt pure satisfaction.
What you just said has pretty much been my words exactly since the second i stepped out of the cinema after i saw this film. Dafne Keen blew my mind, like really blew my mind. I did NOT expect the best part of this film to be a raging 11 year old girl, not by a mile. She nails it and is so perfectly cast it's scary. So yeah, i want to see her grow up as wolverines replacement. 1 film in 2-3 years from now, where she plays teen Laura and then another film 6 years from now where she plays "grown up" Laura would be perfect. I really hope this is going to happen. EDIT: And for all that is holy, keep the films R-rated, omg that would be dope.
Betito117 The problem I'm worried about a sequel is that it will be pg or pg-13, which will make the movie cartoonish in action like those silly Avengers or X-Men movies. I want a more mature movie like Logan if there is ever going to be an X-23 movie.
"Don't be what they made you. ." "So this is what if feels like. ." I swear to god, Logan had me bawling, one of my all-time favorite films and the best comic book film since Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.
FRCB Are you sure some brain fluid isn't leaking out of your ear? Cause I would like to hear what superhero movies you think are better than The Dark Knight, and please don't joke and say Civil War - we all know that movie was sparkle effects and eye candy with zero substance.
Other than the shitty batman with throat cancer and garbage fighting skill yes dark knight is a movie with a lot of depth. Logan is a movie brimming with emotion. They are incomparable...:)
On a lighter note, they would need to have rocks in their head not to include her in future movies. On a more serious note, it will end up being decided by her parents. If this kid shows signs of a meltdown they need to step in and say no more. If I never see X-23 again and it saves Dafne Keen from being the next misfit, Hollywood child I'm fine with that. But maybe she can take it. I hope so.
OcihEvE Don't worry, watch the interviews with Jackman and all he talks about is how they had to reshoot fight scenes because she was having too much fun with the wires. She's amazing an I look forward to her next time as X23.
dude. i was waiting for that the whole movie. closest we got was when logan said he didn't want to cross the border with her because people he cared about would always get hurt so maybe that was an indirect "i love you".
It would be unrealistic and cliche. Yes, he had grown to care for her and realized that she is indeed his daughter but saying he loved her after them meeting only recently would not have payed off. They did the right decisions for the movie dialogue.
She was amazing! How many actors can hold their own onscreen with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart with hardly any dialogue? Much less get a room full of jaded movie dorks all misty eyed.
My wife is not a big comic book person. She's seen some of the X Men movies so came to the film with a basic understanding. She had no idea who X-23 is. But she is an educator who works with children, her knowledge of kids is quite deep. She was so mesmerized by Laura's character. After the movie she basically broke down all of Laura's behaviours and how she could evolve in the future, both positive and negative, based upon her relationship with Logan and possible environments in which she could find herself. After breaking this down for me my wife paused and said "She (Daphne) spent most of the movie silent yet she said all that. Where's her Oscar?" Good question
I hope this kid grow up right because I really like her first marvel film appearance. It reminds me of Logan in his first xmen movie. Let's start training this kid for the next franchise! 👍
Sweet Dafne, if you are reading this. Do NOT turn into a new Miley Cyrus, pretty please! Listen to the smart people around you and stay professional, and you will achieve great things, that is a promise. Everyone who saw Logan and liked it, is now a fan of you. Well i did my part. :)
With the statements she makes, she seems like a reserved and intelligent girl, and her parents seem to be close to her. Very doubtful that she turns out like that.
+Alexander Angelus I agree. But with success comes pressure. And things can go wrong so fast. I just hope she listens to the smart people, and stay focused on her dreams and build a career. And be patient. But i agree, i don't think she will "go nuts" in lack of better words. She seem very reflective and concentrated for her age.
I was blown away by Dafne Keen's performance. I can already envision 4-5 years down the road when she transitions from X-23 to the new Wolverine in the films. at the same time, her growth as a superb actress. 👌
Good vid, hope they continue with her after she grows. If they have to wait a few years or more so be it. Plus imagine how good of an actress she'll be when she matures, she's already great as it is. Also Laura isn't a clone, the evil young wolverine was a clone, she's has his dna (so basically she's his daughter).
SPOILERS Honestly, I thought X-24 was Daken at first. If Laura can be called Wolverine's daughter, I guess X-24 could be seen as his "son" of some sorts, so that's not too far-fetched.
"Daddy"....just that one word was all it took out of her mouth to make the tears start flowing....such great child actress and can't wait to see her grow
I always had doubts about child actors, and when I watched Logan, I kept that doubt in mind. However, she didn't disappoint me at all. She is amazing, and even more so when I learned that she did all her stunts by herself. Incredible.
Idk maybe the suit in the credit scene of THE WOLERINE will be passed on to Laura to become all new wolverine, that's my theory it's probably wrong but it's just a theory
Im so sad that Hugh wont be wolverine anymore. Hopefully Laura will be a good actress and act like hugh in wolverine. Hugh as wolverine was a legend. RIP Wolverine
they should not rush to make another x23 character! this kid is perfect for the x23 role! and be the only x23 like hugh jackman with wolverine!.. just give her time to grow up :)..
I watched the refugees. If you ignore the acting which was like a 4/10 you get an amazing story. Dafne's character ends up getting shot BY her own father. When I found out there was no season 2 the cracks on my phone screen were born.
Seriously, I can already see a teaser poster for some future Wolverine-related movie with a single one of Jackman's muscular arms punched up through the rocks and dirt of his makeshift grave with claws out and illuminated/silhouetted by the moonlight in the background. I doubt Logan will be the end, really... I mean, wasn't The Last Stand supposed to be the last X-Men movie -- at least for that generation?
Their performance's in this movie should land them all Oscar's in my opinion. She was amazing in this movie and has a good long career in acting if that's what she chooses to do. And as far a Jackman and Stuart. If you had to give it all for the last time your going to play a role, they played theirs perfectly.
She was amazing. For such a young actress to pull off her performance was exceptional. Reminds me a bit of the kids from 'Stranger Things'. Maybe they could guest appear in each other's franchises... would be awesome.
Actually a good idea, if they just continue the story a few years after where Logan left off. Keep it R Rated and record it 2-3 years from now, Laura is a teen, still trying to find her place in the world. And the evil mercenaries manage to track her down, and the other kids.. Oh holy.. Yeah i got the shivers now. Fox: i want 2% of the profits! xD
Unbelievable how great this film was. For me, it replaced, "The Dark Knight" as my favorite superhero film of all time. Hell, it's in my top 5 movies of all time.
I swear I didn't expect Logan to be *that* great of a movie. I went in thinking it would be just another "funny and light hearted Marvel" movie. I was shocked when I saw Xavier cursed, I was scared when I realized how depressing the movie is seeing Wolverine struggling with his "disease" and Xavier's health. Cried my eyes out when I realized they're going to kill of Wolverine. Fuck me, this was such a good movie.
If i was James Mangold, i would sing Daphne and take my time developing a new movie with X-23. Not only to get every single detail perfect, but also to give Daphne some room grow a little... 12 years old is a delicated time for a girl and i think, at least for such a violent character, she could use some time to kind of rest from it and get properly ready for the next step on her ark.
I would LOVE to see another movie staring X-23. There is, unfortunately, a slight hitch in this effort: timeline. Laura's debut in the X-Men universe comes in the FUTURE where no new mutants are being born and all the old X-Men are dead. This poses a challenge for movie makers, since you can't have Laura join an X-Men team with Cyclopes and Storm without some convoluted explanation like sending her back in time. Sure, they could just make a sequel about Laura and the band of mutants she was traveling with at the end of "Logan" where they'd likely become the "New X-Men", but how many people are you going to get to come watch a movie about a bunch of new characters they know nothing about? It could happen, but it would be very difficult. You could reboot the franchise again and tell a new story where Laura was born back when the X-Men were still active, but how willing are people going to be to watch yet ANOTHER reboot of the X-Men under Fox ownership? The strength of the Logan movie is also it's weakness. This was intended to be a "last hurrah" for the X-Men universe and so they left nothing on the table. There was no universe building because they had no intention of making a sequel for it.
(FYI, I haven't read the comics) Her silence makes sense to the plot, but I had to wonder if they didn't go that way in part because she might not have had the chops when it came to dialog.... But she was good before and after she started talking. Really hope she gets her own movie. Logan was great... I didn't cry because I'm emotionally stunted... but I came close :)
Holy crap, that "daddy" line. It's especially poignant when you realize that could be the first time she's ever said that word since she was raised in a lab and treated like an object all her life. That whole performance was incredible. The way she can be so mature one minute, a feral animal the next, and a curious wide eyed child the next was amazing.
I love every Wolverine but Logan was the best. Charles swearing out of his mind was sad to watch but such great acting. Would have loved a cameo from someone though
