Suggestion - get out of the tourist and business districts. You will then readily see Singapore's national dress - shorts & t-shirt. Take a walk through the central catchment area or along the coast or visit some of the hundreds of parks. Watch out for wildlife when moving about the main island, eg eagles, hornbills, parakeets, otters, monitor lizards, monkeys, wild boar etc. I've seen all these. Visit one or more of the 60+ islands that make up the country of Singapore. It's an amazing place.

1) alcoholic drinks are seriously tax to discourage drinking. 2) traffic lights duration are adjusted to balance between Traffic condition and pedestrian load. 3) can't be helped... Singapore don't go invading other country for land holding some unknown bottle of mysterious powder during a United Nations meeting claiming country X or Y has WMD.... 4) you must be the one of the few person to think so... Especially when Singaporean are well know to be casually dress, some might even say slopply dress, most of the time. Get out from the CBD where office workers work... And you'll see the different. 5) Apparently you never been to Taipei, Taiwan... The numbers of 7-11 there is mind boggling...

But then again, we are built for Cars in a way like the amount of 6-8 lane roads we have is just weeew. 7 Eleven is King here hahahah. We love our 7 Elevens. And since MBS and the Tourist locations are in the CBD, you'll always see them in Business wear. As many have said, you got the attire wrong😅. And as you have realized indeed it was because it was a work week and the area is a cbd. Try it on weekends saturdays and Sundays and you'll see much more casual outfits. You would see Singaporeans and even seasoned westerners with shorts and flip flops. Taking the time to hit up other parts of the island and maybe you could've gotten more texture in your video vs a pretty 2D view of everything. Also... Lau Pasat = Tourist trap hawker food. Find some locals to bring you to some better, cheaper spots... when in doubt... watch some other youtubers videos. Mark Wiens and Sonny's (BEFRS) come to mind.

Yes we are but it seems you did not even venture out of the CBD. Locals need to work for a living, if you are here during the weekdays and hangout mainly in the CBD, of course you'll see everyone in business attire. Next time travel to other parts of Singapore before making a ridiculous statement like that. Not everyone in Singapore wears business suits except those who are working. @@camdendavidThey sure do. I don't know why you restricted yourself to the CBD area, but you should have done more research before coming here. You said it yourself that Singapore is a small island, so why didn't you take a trip out of the area you were staying at? You could have saved so much on food as well as accommodation and get to explore a whole other side of Singapore that you won't get to see in the CBD area. If I make a plan to visit Singapore from neighboring Kuala Lumpur for 5 days, how much $$$ will be needed (minimum).
@camdendavid
@camdendavid Год назад
So much depends on how much you're wanting to see/do. Outside of hotel, I'd probably bring $100 USD per day at a minimum. Most tourists will probably want closer to $200 a day. What kind of things are you hoping to do while there?
@SuccessforLifester
@SuccessforLifester Год назад
Depends on what you want to do. After settling your accomodations, you can tour Singapore for cheap. Maybe set aside 30 SGD per day for your simple meals and transportations. This is assuming you are eating at hawker centres or food courts. If you want to visit ticketed places of attractions, restaurants and eateries, your price would go up considerably. In fact I would say that your bare minimum is 20 SGD per day excluding accommodation
@cnaizhen
@cnaizhen Год назад
@@SuccessforLifesterI feel like $20 is pushing it a little too much (I know you are simply trying to give an indication of the lowest limit). Meals are $5 x 3, quite hard to keep transport cost within $5 for a tourist jumping around places.
@SuccessforLifester
@SuccessforLifester Год назад
@@cnaizhen if say the tourist is living within the city area, then there is no need to take public transportationm. It could be a sightseeing by foot Most people can eat just two meals a day. 20 SGD is more than enough.
@cnaizhen
@cnaizhen Год назад
@@SuccessforLifester I fully agree that $20 is sufficient to survive. But it is a 5 day trip, unless you hop hotels daily and carry your backpack around, you won't be seeing much at all. It would be challenging to find cheap hotel options around places of attraction as well. One would rather find the cheapest accommodation option and rely on the cheaper transport system to get around. Singapore is small and walkable, but if you skip taking public transportation, you are just wasting time and more money.
