Hey y’all! I certainly don’t speak for the company what so ever. How ever I do work for one of the brick and mortar Tecovas stores. They ask the employees for feedback regularly and when they do I always pitch mens b-widths. The more B-width folks ask and tell employees, the better chances will get! I don’t think it’s out of the picture, but it won’t be anytime soon either. But more feedback helps us understand our fan base’s needs. Hope you can come to enjoy those tho!
I have a pair of Quintin sharkskin in 10.5EE and a pair of Wyatt ostrich in 10EE. They're hard to put on and take off because the throat doesn't fit my high arch and instep. Once they're on, though, they're very comfortable. I also have Ariats and they go on and off much easier, but the Tecovas shaft just slides under jeans or trousers so well. Tecovas are my dress boots and the Ariats are my daily wear/work boots.
I have some 10.5 EE in the roper suede Shane. Initially, I thought they were a good fit and felt that would be my size. One day, I walked in, and they had the last pair of the Quintin in chocolate. I had to have it. However, all they had was 11.5 EE, and I thought that might be too big. I tried it with insoles and double socks. Since I really wanted it, I convinced myself that they fit. I wore them a few times, and now they fit great. The moral of the story is don't be afraid to try bigger sizes. I can put them on and take them off easy, and they fit the way I like. Not too tight, not too loose. Just right. I bought the Cartwright in 11D, and they felt great at the store. However, I ended up returning those. They were too difficult to take off. I had given up on Tecovas until I tried a whole size larger. Now I will start at 11.5 EE and go from there. I wear 10 in everything else.
Also, I'm not a fan of how Shane's fit. It's not the boots' fault. I think it's the wrong size. I can wear them, but the quintins just feel great. I don't need the insoles either. I usually wear dress socks, but if I want a snug fit, I wear some thick merino wool socks, and that snugs them right up. Perfect fit.
If I can make one suggestion and request, it would be to go to your local Alan Edmonds shoe store and have them size you for their Park Avenue. That size has transferred over to pretty much all my boots. Just a suggestion.. mind you, the Park Avenue is a dress shoe for some reason that last is very realistic to a human foot.
the fewer the pieces, the fewer the stiches to hold the pieces together, the more comfortable the boots will be. I always look for the boots without side seams on the tops (where possible) because they won't chafe or cause "boot bite" at the ankles. I have a pair of 1-piece front antique boots which are another type to look for. They are best described as looking a bit like 1860s cavalry boots where the foot and the front of the boot are one continuous piece of leather. And I used to own a pair of boots back in the 1980s that was made of _one_ piece of leather with one stitched seam in the back. One continuous piece that was the entire foot and shaft, with a pointed toe, and only a stitched seam at the back. I wish I still had them. Fully leather lined.
Niiiice. Can’t beat back cut python. My Barret’s are definitely my favorite boots when I’m going for style. Edit: Bummer you’ve got an odd foot size. I’ve got a handful of Tecovas, Rujos, Chisos, and some odd balls brands, all 9D, and all fit great. Guess I’m lucky
I had the same exact issue with the birthday boot where I had trouble getting my right foot into the boot. It eventually broke in enough where I can get them on with minimal issues. once I got my foot into the boot they were super comfortable.
Great video as always! These are a cool looking pair of boots for sure! I do agree that Tecovas should offer preorders on boots specially when it comes to limited edition offerings! Take care and stay blessed!
I really love these boots. Checked them out when the well launched. And as usual, they didn't make my size. 8D is the smallest. For any of their special launches they don't make sizes for smaller men's sizes. Rather disappointing. They don't care that they lose potential customers. I have one pair of their standard boot. That's all I will ever have.
I’m a first time Tecova buyer and I got the birthday boot. Received them on the 29th and I had a hard time getting down the shaft, but when I got into the foot bed they fit right. I ordered the 10-1/2 EE. Getting my foot out of them was fun the first few times, I’ve been stretching the shaft and they’re getting better. Don’t understand why they’re making the shafts so damn tight!!
I have a few pair of Tecovas and I do have that size issue too. Most boots I fit in 8.5 d, but thats too small with Tecovas and 9 d feels slightly big but at least not uncomfortable. I bought the birthday boots and I have #13 and I love them.
Dude I have the same issue I’m a 8.5ee with regular leather but once I go exotic I can’t get the right boot on I have to use the bag method . I’ve bought a few 9EE some fit good and some fit a lil too big
It would be so much more beneficial to customers and companies if more width sizes were available. Size is more than a number in cowboy boots. It’s the combination of the size number and width that makes a comfortable fit. Sizing up or down is just a way to find something that is close and even then some boots will still be uncomfortable to wear. Overall it’s a nice looking pair of boots.
Im a 12b and I've had the same issue with the shank casuing me pain. Ive recently had luck with 11.5d in my barrets and hanks and Jasper's same for my chisos #5s
I generally like your boot reviews a lot of info and more. This time I believe almost half of the video is complaining about they don't carry the B.size. Looking at more Boot companies I would say very few carry a B size including one of the best longtime bookmakers Lucchese doesn't carry a B. Knowing that I think you should write them and just do video's on the boot you're reviewing. Take care and will be waiting for your next video.
I managed to get number 980 of 1001. 7th pair of Tecovas in six months, and loved the first six pair. The shaft on these isn't right, way, way too narrow, you can't get your foot in them. I shoved hunks of wood in mine trying to stretch the shaft. If I don't have any luck I'm going to see if they could be cut down the side and have a zipper installed. But they do look good, can't wait to wear them.
Could fit not into those Bday8’s in my regular Tecovas size (10.5D). Couldn’t get my foot through the shaft - the heel got stuck high. Sized up to 11D and I was able to barely get my foot in but then it was to wide in the fore foot area. What a shame as I really like the boot. Bought a pair of gunmetal Noalans while at the store for the better fit.
It's so important for boot companies to offer many widths for proper fit. I've always floated between an E and EE and it can be hard to get the right fit. I recently landed an E width and it was perfect. Any wider and the boot would have been sloppy
I have a pair of Tecovas, I get pissed every time I put them on because the counters are super flimsy and always want to collapse. I agree, they could do much better.
Have you tried a women’s size, like a 14B? Would they fit better? Or is a women’s B the same width proportion as a men’s D? (I’ve never been able to experiment, because my feet are so small that I don’t think men’s boots in my size even exist…)
Yeah, I skipped this pair. It had some cool features, but I wasnt a big fan of the overall look. The snip toe Tecovas fit me fine, but some woman's boots sized up by 1 i fit in great. But the majority of the rest of their boots dont fit me very well. If they start doing more B widths, Tecovas would blow up even more so. Maybe some company will come out with more widths to combat this two widths fit all
A lot going on with this boot, decent looking boots, but Tecovas aren’t my cup of tea, and it’s absolutely ridiculous that they refuse to make B widths, show they’re all about the money and really don’t care about the customers!
For me the the design on the shaft is a waste of money and effort, especially on guys boots. Either way for the money they want for those boots. They definitely should be doing whatever size is requested. I have EE and I wouldn't buy $200 boots that i have to comprise on the size or width.
Tecovas are probably the worst boots on the market. They are incredibly dishonest about the construction, and lie about the handmade nature of their boots.
