Okay, you say "your setting yourself up to fail" if you take ALL honors classes, but really, you're giving yourself a challenge. When you aren't taking higher-level classes because you feel like it would be easier that's not proving anything and you'd just be taking the easy way out...?
I'm about to finish my freshman year in a little under two weeks and I took all honors classes. I personally agree with you because it was a challenge and my grades aren't horrible but they could be better if I didn't take as many as I did. (My current GPA is 3.27)
Freshman grades DO count! Don't fall for the "colleges don't look at your freshman year grades!" Many colleges are more likely to look at your freshman year grades rather than your senior! Emma and Sam are right! Doing well freshman year will help you develop good study habits for all of high school and the ever-important junior year!
I am not going to be a freshman this year, but this advice really helped me since I am going in my first year of middle school. So thank you so much Emma and Sam💖
Good luck to all freshman this year! It honestly wasn't that bad and high school is not like it's portrayed on tv you will have fun just make the most of the four years!
oh sorry, i honestly thought everybody knew! obviously to us, australians have an accent! and then to them, we have a funny accent! and so on! british people never realize they have an accent either, till someone who isn't british tells them! :p we have an american accent, i guess you would say! (if you've never seen videos of people trying american accents, you're missing out!) it's SO funny hearing what we apparently sound like !
If you want some other beauty relayed channels (that have American accents,) here are some I'd recommend. MyLifeAsEva, Maybaby, SierraMarieMakeup, Megan Rienks, Alisha Marie, MamaMiaMakeup, and Bethany Mota.
As a graduate student in a top program for my field of study, I'd also like to add that high school may or may not be the best experience for you. It was awful for me, as a result of having family stuff outside of school and a teacher who bullied me on a very, very personal level. So even if it isn't the best time for you, just keep going. People will unintentionally lie and tell you that high school will be the 'best years of your life'...they will tell you that about college, and about grad school, and about retirement...The point is to stop chasing the 'best years' dream. You only have a finite amount of time to enjoy your life, so take advantage of all of it. Goodluck everyone, and make sure to always stay true to yourself and your ideals- the rest will follow!
So, I absolutely cannot speak from experience, as I am just starting highschool, is that you don't need to be popular. You don't need to be cool. Also remember that you are NEVER better than anyone else. Try to get exceptional grades, because when applying for a job interview, no one's going to ask you, "What was your social status in highschool?" No, they're going to ask you about your grades. Don't talk shit. No one's going to be impressed, especially when you finally get to college. You left that crap in middle school, as highschoolers, you should already know better.
I don't necessarily think that you would regret having sex at an early age, to some people, it's not a big deal. Great advice though, I love this video!
***** I think you may have misunderstood haha. I'm just pointing out that although sex is sacred to some, some people just see it as a physical action and their first time is no different from the rest, so they don't see the point in making it so special. I'm not talking about me, but I have a few friends. No argument needed :)
Sooo I'm in a tough spot with my friend I'm an upcoming freshman When I was in 8th grade, I was the new student at the school I was attending, and I made a lot of beautiful friends, and this one girl that I will not speak the name of. We'll call her R. At first, I though R was an amazing genuine kind person, but in reality, I found out she needed to be freaking babied by me almost 24/7. She literally stick to me like a dead bug on a car window... And it's SO annoying! I don't want to tell her to back off cause' that's not the kind of person I am, and R is so afraid of losing a friend and I'm worried that someday if she makes another friend and ends up losing him/her, she'll do something that she'll regret. She needs to learn that she is old enough to do things on her own, and that I can't be her mom! I don't know what to do, because if I do tell her this, she won't take it well.
I'm going into senior year and I have to add one thing to this that a lot of people disregard, go to guidness. Guidness is always there to help, if you are feeling down one day to figure out your future career, they are there for you. :)
Thank you Emma, This video was super helpful! I'm going to be a freshman this year and I was kinda nervous but this video helped me not worry, and gave me an idea of what to expect :)
I was afraid number 3 would happen to me. I was recommended for all of the honor classes and AP classes. I decided to not do Honors Geometry. Instead it did geometry 9 because it was advanced compared to the normal math for freshmen anyway and I did everything else honors and AP world history freshman year and no sports. I hope I get use to it this year! Also, I'm excited and nervous to see all of my old friends that went to a different middle school than me! You are so inspiring and thanks for the help!!! ❤️
All of these tips are great! And I agree drugs do make you look stupid. Although, saving yourself for marriage I personaly don't agree with because then you can't experiment with what you like or don't like. Plus, sex isn't that "holy" and precious. But of course, it's all up to you.
I'm going to be a junior this year, and I'm going to be taking 4 AP, so it's going to be a hard year. As long as you try really hard I'm sure you'll do fine. 😊 2 more years left! FIND GOOD FRIENDS
I'm going into freshman year but I do know that you need to try to keep your grades up and not slack because of you do your grade point average will be lower and colleges look for high gpa's
I'm going into grade 8 when school starts, where I live grade 8 is in high school so. Anyways, my high school is really big and a bunch of drug addicts and stupid kids go there. I seriously was once walking by my high school and I saw 5 kids walking around in a ravine with a bottle of vodka. Like what they legit were 14... So yeah, People always say that high school isn't scary and it's fun.. At my high school people do get shoved in lockers and pushed in trash cans... I'm kinda scared since I look like I'm 4 and I'm only 5'1".. SooO rip me
for tip #3 i say do what you wanna do. i am going to be a sophomore and last year(freshman year) i took 1 ap class(human geography), and i had 3 honors classes(math, english, and biology). i was able to handle it and got all A's plus i was on the jv softball team. i say, do what you think is best for you but also don't overwhelm yourself.
I am in year 5 and since year 7 is now highschool were i live i needed to watch this video because i am terrible at maths and i always say i cant do things but have watched a lot of these videos and they help! So thank you!
+Brooke Bangledorf could you please stop asking people for sub for sub on Emma's (or anyone else's) channel because she probably worked very hard on this video and you won't gain loyal subscribers. not trying to start anything but I would greatly appreciate it and I'm sure Emma would too
at my high school, the first day only the freshmens go to school so they can see the idea of how things work, I think it's a great way to make freshmens feel comfortable on their first day because they can meet all the other students in that grade and they won't look stupid if they don't know where a class is because all the other freshmens would be knew to the school.
Why am I watching this? Im going to 8th grade xD, #2k20 Any advice? I mean it is, the last year of middle school but also the year where I have to prepare for highschool. Advice is much appreciated x)
Ok so some advice for 8th grade is to foci on your grades because that can affect where you lab in high school and then in high-school reflects on where you go to college and not to scare you but 8th grade has the most drama to me and just remember to be true to yourself and have fun at school to
OMG ***** thanks so much for these tips and tricks because I'm moving schools this year and it was kinda really stressful and im nervous to make new friens but this helped alot : )
here's my way of calming your nerves before starting high school. those of you who are nervous about high school, check out this sitcom called smart guy, a late 1990s show that revolves around 10 year old t.j. henderson starting high school at the age of 10 for being a genius. the comedy of that show will calm your nerves and you'll see that a 10 year old little boy thats half the size of high school kids managed to survive high school and if he can do it, you guys can do it. at least all of you will be starting high school at the right age and all of the other kids starting high school will be your age while t.j. henderson was only one there who was at his height AND 10 years old. every single episode of that show is available on here so just type smart guy on the search box, sit back, relax, and get some laughs.
