Hello Everyone!
In this video my friend and I answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the Camino de Santiago. We walked
the Camino Frances route in May of 2018 and this is based solely on our experience. As the Camino can be walked many different ways
there is no one way to do it, and no one answer is going to be correct for everyone!
I hope this videos helps you learn more about the Camino de Santiago and gives you some idea of what to expect.

Many 'outdoors' type hikers use Guthook App to plan and guide them on trails. These same people will often use it on the more "urban" hike of the Camino de Santiago. Recommend you check into it.

Did you guys video your camino? Seems like you have fun together and it would be a treat to see your camino adventures.

I would say that you should book a bed in Hostel Orrison, half ways up the Pyrenees. I would agree that the first day, or crossing the Pyrenees, was the most difficult, in my opinion......

Michael Fire Michael Fire hi yes that is a great point! Orrison is a great stopping place the first day, especially to get used to hiking long distances. No one should get injured their first day, you want to start out on a good foot, literally.

The Camino does not start in France, it starts where ever you start. There are Camino routes all over Europe!

How common are areas where you can sleep in a tent?
@StephBugge
@StephBugge 5 лет назад
I don't think they are nearly as common as the albergues. There were relatively few people who carried tents and the places you could camp out were a bit out of the way and not as convenient as the hostels!

Remember that you have to carry everything, and do you realy want to be carrying a tent when Albergues are so affordable!!

I hope this comment isn't too late for you- I just stumbled on this video. I carried a tarp shelter and did clandestine camp in May 2015, but there aren't a whole lot of places that are super camp friendly. I think different regions have different camp laws so study up AND/OR you can just ask. If you're strolling into a new little village and make friends with a local, you can always ask to hooch up on their property. They very well may even take you in and feed you. I leap frogged with a crew of eastern block looking dudes that claimed they ONLY camped, and they looked like it with the gypsy camps they carried on their backs. Long story short- don't plan on camping too much unless you do your homework, but if you are comfy in a tarp then it's a great option to work your way off trail and clandestine camp. Buen Camino.
