Are you guys going to manage the trees and make sure that they don't become too overabundant and cause devastating wildfires that destroys people's homes and the other trees in the area because they're too close together? And!
Is there a guarantee that these funds will actually plant trees and not disappear into "administrative costs", and that TeamTrees won't be taking credit for someone else's planting? Sorry, but mass donation schemes are easy to divert and hide spending, especially with those with such broad goals and there's a loooong sad history of causes hijacked to profit opportunists who tap into other's good intentions.
the truly meaningful change would be to stop corporations and nations from harming the environment for profit. small time charities are only putting band-aids on the wounds, merely treating the symptoms instead of the disease. if you live in the U.S. for example, a vote for the g.o.p is a vote against the environment, against the future of the species, and if you have children, against them as well.
@@bland9876 we wish we could do that but most trees would die for the weather, that's why the special day, most plants will survive if arbored(?) that season
this is such a good campaign that I hope it reaches the goal, I feel like we should put all the media power like we did to help pewdipie in the past but towards real social problems and helping our planet. we can do it, we can plant 20 million trees, we can feed 20 million kids, and many more things, this is what internet should be all about.
Ah yes with my e-activism I will save the world! Like this post to feed one African child, share it to plant 100 trees!Ethiopia plants hundreds of millions of trees every year without any fundraising. This is nothing and Mr Beast is a renown conman who will run with most, if not all the money.
@@ICouldntThink0faName Was going to write a logical counter-argument, but realised that pea brained flamingoshit like you probably cant comprehend it either way
The fundraiser has been live for what, like, 14 hours? And it's already raised over $2 million. I have a feeling that the goal will be comfortably reached plus some (hopefully!).
Your average “environmentalist” only cares about moral high ground not the actual effect on the environment. Thats how the west exported all our carbon emissions to china. Now governments in places like canada and the EU get to be seen as world leaders for “green countries” despite actually being hugely wasteful
@@scoldingwhisper At least governments in places like Canada and the EU are doing something. It's not enough, not yet, but it is much better than those idiotic countries (or their leaders') that deny climate change and actively work against environmental improvements. Also, saying that the average environmentalist only cares about the moral high ground is simply wrong. It is the clarion cry of one who is too lazy or selfish to change their behaviour in order to help protect the environment.
@@jonb4155 yeah like u suppose those countries to stop producing things which u urself and ur countries depend on lol it would Just make a disaster u didnt und what scoldingwispher was actually sayin cux ur a hypocrite who only thinks k he and his country are the only one and mighty who thinks of earth lol but thats not it
Same with orchids. Them bulbs lookin' like testicles to the Greeks too, apparently. Edit: and apparently _bollockworts_ to the middle English and "Fox Testicle" to the Arabic, so, not just the Greeks.
I haven't said this in a ages, but i love Americans. Keep showing such examples to the world, as an first world country that you are. You have higher influence than anybody. Thank you. #TeamTrees
Jacob keyser quaking aspen are very cool trees indeed! The way the leaf stem is flattened perpendicular to the leaf and how that makes the leaves “quake” in the slightest breeze is beautiful at many levels, and the way that whole stands of aspens trunks are all part of the same giant organism is amazing.
I think this is wonderful! Last year I planted 6 apple trees. The year before that I gifted our landlord a lemon tree when we moved. This year I’m buying a conifer to plant in my aunts yard. The city just told my aunt they plan to plant new trees in the public space next to her house. If you can’t afford to donate, there are seeds in most of the fruits we eat, you can start a tree from planting a seed. One of my neighbors grows plants on his patio & transplants them into public spaces in the middle of the night. He’s a real eco-ninja. Most people don’t even notice the new plants, the city sure hasn’t, but they make a difference regardless.
It's great to see American chestnuts being represented. I remember my friend got his chestnut tree, which he cared deeply for into the crossbreeding program. It is getting more success, but hopefully it will be temporary until better methods are allowed that preserve genetic diversity
5:00 I almost started crying how many trees will we never enjoy just because they couldn’t survive, how many MILLIONS of life forms don’t exist anymore just because somewhere along their evolution they just... couldn’t cut it, their fruit wasn’t good enough, their relationships with other creatures disappeared, or they just lost out on space. What have we missed just because it wasn’t the best?
Thank you for taking actual action in saving the environment! Donation made. Even thou mr.beast is not the most environmentally contious youtuber, my hats still off to his fans for ”pressuring” him to take a stand and to him for answering the challenge. Scishow is my long time fav channel and I’m proud of you for joining the challenge. Keep it up guys, you’re doing a great job!
Hey, Hank! I love so much that everyone is coming together to do this! I will try to get my school to take a schoolweek (5 days) of their snackshop sales money (over $200 a day) to donate. I encourage everyone else do to whatever they can as well!
I know this is for a fundraiser, but I like the format of this. Multiple episodes tied together in one video under a theme. Love to see something like this again!
Is anyone else reminded of those infomercials that sold a music mix package including ALL those FAVORITES including ... Avocado... Twisty Trees! And who can forget the classic Hank Licks a Tree.
I sat in a giant sequoia for 3 days and got a nickname! About a hundred folks organized while I was sitting and through the collective effort the tree I sat in and it's 2 siblings (all planted at the same time 120ish years ago) are the feature of a privately owned park called Save The Giants Park, in Portland Oregon.
Trees incorporate things that are leant against them. You can see this in many old walls, and you'll find gravestones, bikes, and even bedsteds sticking out of trees. I've often wonderedat how 'gentle'' and sensitive plants are, to be able to grow around things without pushing them out of the way. Fungi are fantastically sensitive too: you will often find mushrooms with grass growing right through the cap without deflection!
Wait a minute. 2millions trees by 2020 is around 33 000 trees planted per day, almost 1400 trees per hour if the work is done around the clock. You'd need 300 volunteers to for 12h a day for 2 month (not counting the transport of the 2 mil saplings). Damn that actually seems feasible.
You can’t believe my disappointment when I heard we were getting two cameos from young hank but neither was the elusive and powerful mustached hank. One of the few beings able to challenge muscle hank.
I didn't see an article or page discussing this project on Arbor Day Foundation's website, but most likely a variety of different sites. Probably parks and areas that recently suffered natural disasters will be have most of the trees planted, but that's more a guess.
Most of them are being planted in national parks around the US. However, some will be planted at different sites around the world (although it wasn't specified where exactly).
Most likely where or in new similar spots. Literally took me five minutes to find it. www.arborday.org/programs/replanting/action/ www.arborday.org/programs/replanting/international/
So, I volunteer at a zoo in CT and I am going to show them this to A. Get the word out and B. Maybe they can donate some to help. This zoo is always fundraising for things as it is not a huge zoo, but by god they try and take good care of their animals. That and they have connections to a lot of other similar organizations.
16:15 it nice to remind the kids about their chores.. but once the leaves have hit the ground they are holding moisture, heat and fertilizer for next year.
I love hoe bad Hank wants to reach the goal of planting 20,000,000 trees by 2020!!! Can we still donate to plant trees even now, 3 months into 2020? I'm going to check and see if I can, and if so I will donate $20!!!
My grandfather planted in 30 40 years ago they're isolated 7 South Georgia on the Florida and Georgia Line I'm not sure if it's American chestnut or not but it's surrounded by pine trees and other fruit trees in the yard and it's still growing with pecan trees pears grapes palm trees you name it
I plan to contribute, but it's with the acorns I've collected from the three tree's I cut down for firewood. So far I have a large bucket filled up with them to plant through some woods around my area. I felt bad about cutting them down & wanted to help them continue their life cycle. They were close to my utility line & were a hazard so it had to be done. Turned out two of the three were dying from the inside and would have caused some serious damage if left alone.
I think the whole ground-sloths-eating-avocados has been discredited and Sci Show did a video explaining that it was wrong and deleted the original video but it seems to be appearing here in this compilation.
