What I love about photoshopping is how they've been able to take old black and white photos from the 19th century and early 20th century and add color to make them look like convincing color photos. You get more of a feeling of really looking into an older era and getting a feel of it when seeing it in color. After all, that's how they saw it back then, they weren't living in a black and white world

Great Tutorial. Love what you did in the end in camera raw with sky temperature. Really gave it pop.

The shirt change for each step is 💯. Love this, especially when I scrub back/forth to rewatch.

Definitely got a sub from me!! Most youtube video tutorials the person doing it goes so fast for anyone to follow and as a newbie to photoshop it can be daunting to learn anything, but like the way you present your tutorials, thankyou from the uk :-)

I am so going to try this 4 step process on a couple challenging shots I took a couple weeks ago when we were in Washougal, Washington - just north of Portland. I got a photo of an eagle sculpture with some really dramatic clouds behind it. The sun momentarily broke through the clouds right over the eagle's right wing (which of course created a silhouette). should be interesting.. Great tutorial as always!

Thanks for the tutorial; breaking it into those sections helped show the organization schema. Some of it reaffirmed what I already do and some gave me some new insights. I don't like to overdo things because it readily shows that it has been altered more than necessary. For example, I would have backed off on that vignette for my own final image. Nevertheless, showing your whole process was very much appreciated.

So glad I found this. I will be trying these steps and I know I will be watching this video more than once. Very easy to follow and understand. Thank you so much!

Hi Colin, thanks so much for the great video. I have a question for you. Among the 4 Steps in your video, in which step are you doing noise reduction? Are you doing it in the Finishing Step? Since you are doing the sharpening there.

Really enjoyed this step-by-step approach Colin, very interesting. I completely agree with your point about walking away for a while and reappraising an image with fresh eyes. Another hobby of mine is recording music on my PC, and the same advice holds good when mixing a song (I think the old-school adage is always to 'sleep on a mix'!). And speaking of music, it would be cool to hear you play that Ibanez Jem we see hanging up in the backdrop of your videos sometime :-)

I'm trying to edit an image shot on an iPhone 11. I seem to be missing some of the features on your screen even though I'm on the latest version of Photoshop CC. There is no "enable profile correction" under the lens corrections tab. I don't either have a ruler on the tools panel up top. any suggestions?
