Ahhhh.. Back to the essence of your channel. When I first came across your channel many years ago, you were still working at Moon Township Ford doing your reviews on the premises. I have a 2020 black on black Explorer ST, and I have to agree and disagree about people getting out of your way on the highway. For those that use their rearview mirror, yes. For all the others that are oblivious behind the wheel, they stay put! I like the 2025, except for the wheels and the amount of features taken out of the ST..
The tailpipe design started back in 2016 and was a result of the carbon monoxide issues the previous generation had supposed issues with. My 2016 Explorer XLT was a buyback for the issue and one of the "fixes" was a revised exhaust that was installed on the vehicle which featured the tips with the outlets on the bottom that was there to help point the exhaust fumes downward instead of outward.
Glad you did this one. When I went researching 2016 Sport Explorers,I came up on your video, that was in September 2022 and I saw how much fun you had with. It sold me and I had to have it. Love my 2016 Sport. Love the what they did for 2025. I wasn't a fan of gen 6 2020-2024 because it just didn't look good in comparison. I put 275/50/20's on mine and true dualed it. Kudos!
@@DaddelcrusherLike I clearly stated, a BMW X5 can’t touch the Explorer ST for the money! You have to buy a BMW at twice the price and with a V8 to out perform the Explorer ST.. To make it even clearer for you, NOTHING in its class with a V6 and some V8’s is touching this SUV! Mine is tuned and I’ve raced many BMW X5’s and sedans, so I know from experience what I’m talking about!
@@DalHarpJragree man I’m actually surprised these 3.0L explorers are going for 60k still. Steal! For the money nothing comes close. Chevy traverse? Please, want more space go with Tahoe or suburban but you’re going mid $70s even $80k. Same for bmw Mercedes etc
My '22 ST has the blacked out badging in the hood too. Wife ans I love our ST. Ordered new and delivered with 8 miles on the OD. Went to thr performance driving school in NC at the Biltmore that ford includes with each new purchase. And when attending, you get blacked out badges to replace the red ST badges. So anyone you see with black ones went to the school. Amazing two night trip at the Biltmore. Power output is amazing, got the full technology, tow, blacked out, co pilot 360+ packages. Also the AWD and 4WD options. I live in Phoenix, so not fully needed, well 4Wad yeah, AWD, not needed. But good gas millage, great handeling, excellent power and looks!!! Black on Black FTW!!!
Finally a new video Mike! I know you are having some major personal problems at the moment, but it would be cool if you would post videos more often...
Wow, this review was incredibly detailed and insightful! I appreciate how you covered all the key features and performance aspects. The visuals and explanations made the car’s strengths and weaknesses easy to understand. Keep up the fantastic work! 🚗👍
@@tap42al I get it bro but it’s done. …. Everyone is gangster wanting a V8, until they have to drop $200/wk gas. At this point I’ll be happy with physical buttons, traditional shifter, rather then this idiotic ipads and the classic Ford hard plastic interior.
@@apunitedif you’re spending $200/week on gas just because you have a v8, means that you can afford either: 2 cars, one good on gas to get to and from work OR a v8 where $200/week is nothing. Besides, if you’re driving that far for work and you’re complaining about the gas prices, you make really bad financial decisions, so the engine is not to blame, only yourself.
Nice review. Ford has done a nice job with the Explorers. Useful design, good amount of space. I’d seriously consider one if I needed to replace my current DD.
Keep doing what you do mike. Like all ur videos from both channels.. would be cool if you got rid of both cars and got a Toyota Tundra and did a bunch of mods..
My take on this is, of course, the price. 50k is too much without that 3.5L, but. still, the prices are so high the sales will tank like the rest of the auto market. People these days just don't have the money to drop on high dollar autos like they use to. Many Ford, GM, Dodge, lots around where I live and travel are stacked full with no one even entering the lots to look, much less buy. Some lots are even so full here they are still holding on to 2023 models they can't sell. I don't know if this is in other areas across the country, but within a 100 mile radius of me in central Alabama these lots are loaded. I've talked to a couple friends who use to work at our local, in town dealership who've said they are just not selling anything, and are cutting staff members. I say all this to say, unless they cut the prices of autos to a reasonable price, considering so much of them are robot built and assembled, and prices are going up so high in this economy, folks like myself on a fixed income will have to keep our old vehicles and put a few dollars here and there to keep them on the road. I sure would like one of these STs, but there's no way many of us on disability or some on social security can buy. Anyway, thanks for the review. It looks nice, for sure..still needs the 3.5L for those extra ponies...lol. Cheers
I bought a Honda Pilot AWD Touring out the door for $54,000 with a naturally aspirated V6. I would it over the Explorer any day and that is what we did.
Had two of the previous gen Explorer STs. This interior upgrade looks like a major improvement. Too bad they won’t put a real exhaust system on the ST.
Not a blow off valve. The 21+ does not have a BOV anymore. They are varriable vane turbos and not sure how it works with no BOV, but yeah, no BOV in 21+ model years with the 3.0 TT (Which all STs have)
Lol, so many bots in the comments. All brand new accounts. I hope they help boost your content though. Bro, you need to get back on the grind. I hope you do.
Visually the biggest updates to me are the wheels and the rear taillights! Ive always felt the pre-facelift wheels were a pretty lazy design and i'm tired of black wheels on everything.
Hey @autovlog do you have info if and when the explorer will come in Europe? The previous came with an added phev mandatory option. Didn’t like the interior so didn’t bother but this is looking great
Does the engine still blow up? My neighbors did at 5200 miles. They were really upset. On the way to Florida. 7 months old. Gotta love a Ford. 2024 Explorer LXT . Bought it brand new from the Ford Dealer. They offered to put a new engine in it.
Might surprise you, but companies apply for patents for inventions all the time and most of them never come to market. It doesn't mean anything until you actually see it.
@@msokes9 After some research, it appears you are correct... I thought it was fumes related because these turndown tips became a thing when that massive exhaust fume recall happened back in like 2017ish.
@@acride they did have that issue with the previous gen police interceptors. Mainly all the upfitting and drilling to install any equipment is what caused that problem
This looks very appealing to me, nice form, cargo space is more than enough, all around great car for the family, and doesnt look like like it. The price is going to be where these are sold or not.
Neither the Explorer or the Grand Cherokee are SUVs. They are just jacked up wagons aka Crossovers. Yawn. I don’t care how fast they are, at the end of the day they are just cars. We need more SUVs. The last real Explorer died back in 2010 unfortunately. It was a real SUV and had an optional V8 that will run 500k miles easy.
should be no turbo but 5.0coyote, like stupid ford did with the raptor they deleted the 6.2 and put in a stupid eco boost, not sure if expedition has a v8, prob does
Why not reclining 2nd row seating like Trackhawks??? Wake up Ford! Potential owners would like their children and / or passengers to be comfortable also!!!!!😏
Not really a fan of the exterior design, as it doesn’t look very “ford” to me. Looks more like a traverse or a pilot. First change id make if I owned one is getting rid of that dumb curved exhaust design.
That everyone and their mom will have it…..over hyped and cool for anyone with a pack of kids and a midlife crisis without the bank for a fun car and a kid mobile.
Those exhaust tip are tinyyyyy😂 for 400hp, weird design why wouldnt you want dirty tips should of been black instead of chrome definitely not better than SRT Durango even at its dated look!!
@williestevenson19.. I've owned my (Tuned) Explorer ST for just over 4 years. I've had no issues with the powertrain whatsoever. Matter of fact, I purchased a 2024 Ranger Raptor as well, due to the familiar powertrain!
It’s not a truck. It doesn’t have a frame. The ST is ok for a fast tall wagon. They need to bring back a BOF Explorer. I guess the Bronco kind of covers that market, but it’s really more of a compact.
