I do 2-3 cruises per year and LOVE the private islands, a cheap beach day where I can snorkel, get the beach out of my system. Then I can focus on culture and exploring when I visit the Caribbean/Bahamas islands.

Home run Tanner, great video. The cruise private islands represent everything that draws me to cruising. Thanks for the information and the pleasant images.

I’m excited about ours. I found a beach club all inclusive just a ferry ride away in harvest caye

We were on Harmony of the Seas October 2022 with our grandsons. Had the greatest experience on Coco Cay. My husband uses a mobility scooter so our best investment was a cabana at “South Beach”. Tram took us from the pier to cabana. We had the best attendants, who took great care of us. Would absolutely do it again. Our cabana was very close to the water, so we could keep an eye on the boys in the water.

FYI - For NCL's Harvest Caye, it's NOT true that you can use your drinks package on the island and if you eat there, you DO pay. You also have to get your beach towels on the ship before you go to the island. Basically everything on the island costs money. Get your food, drinks and beach towel on the ship before you go. As you can tell, this island isn't exactly my favorite destination.

We leave in 6 days for a trip on the Caribbean Princess, and the first stop is at their private island spot in the Bahamas. The wife and I are staying on the ship to enjoy it to ourselves while the crowds head to the beach.

Tanner, Excellent Video. On Carnival the Drink Package can’t be used on Half Moon Cay or Princess Cays. Danny DeLecce.

Going on my very first cruise in January 2024! 🎉 Leaving on the CARNIVAL ELATION out of Jacksonville Florida and going to the Bahamas. Looking forward to visiting Half Moon Cay! ... (maybe grab a little 3 oz bottle of sand, before I leave 😉 !)

I hear alot about excursions, but being new to cruising, it's confusing to know which ones to take. How would I go about figuring that out? Are there videos to help me on that? This video was helpful in terms of the private islands, like CoCo Cay., and the tips were useful information, so thank you for that.

There is a Shore Excursion desk on the ship. Go visit and they will tell you anything you want to know about the excursions, help you pick one, and can get you booked.

If you want some space when the ship’s at the private island, stay on the ship. You’ll likely get a pool chair fairly easily. Want a spa treatment? It’s likely you’ll get it at a discount. Lines in the buffet? Nope, not very likely.

Most repeat cruisers are so saturated with "private islands" they try to avoid them. What happened to the cultural and exploring experiences of visiting 3 to 4 real Caribbean Islands on a one week cruise. We are tired of beaches, bars, bikinis, and damaging sun.

“You can think of these as extensions of the ship.” Exactly, that’s the problem.

Cruiseline private islands are there only for the $$$. they're ok for the beach time, probably preferable, but I'd rather be in a true port of call. 😊

Total entrapment. Same with Cozumel, Costa Maya, Labadee.

Unless its with Grandchildren or the rest of the ports are amazing its not an option. No more Bahamas or Mexico for us

I’ve always looked at these cruise line islands as ‘fake ports of call.’ They’ve always ticked me off. They literally have No reason to be there except to grab money.
