I have had my dog, Martin, for about 9 years. He was a rescue, and it was pretty obvious he was abused. When we first got him, I let him in the bed with me, and he tried staying as far away from as possible. He would try to avoid us, and wouldn't let me pick him up. I left him alone, and would comfort him, and try to reassure him I'm safe. After about a year, he came up to me, and sat next to me. Another year after that, and I could pick him up, and cuddle with him. Now, when I come home, he runs towards me, and jumps into my arms, he lets me pick him up, and follows me around all day. All. Day. His most common sleeping position is when he lays out on his side. He puts his back to me, and lays with me all day. He is truly, my best friend.
I'm so glad u rescued him. All my dogs have been rescued & they all have been phenomenal! U are his best friend!! Always give him the love & attention he deserves. Dogs rule
Ur dog must love u soooooo much. For him to have that backstory and to have that much trust in u and for u to have that much trust in him, that’s an unbreakable bond u and ur dog share. U must not be able to imagine life without him. I share a bond with my cat, and I dread the day that she will no longer sleep with me in my bed. Take care of ur dog, like u would take care of ur family, and remember, he is family.
I got my jack Russell when he was a month old. My dad went to get me a puppy for Christmas and was looking around at all the jack Russells. He saw this one little puppy passed out on his back. People were poking and prodding him and other dogs were running around and climbing over him and he just slept through it all. So my dad decided to get that one because he seemed to put up with anything. 11 years later and he's laying next to me right now, fast asleep in that same position and snoring like a bear.
My first dog was a Jack Russell and had him for 12yr, s.But your dad but he seems a great guy with a big heart as he picked out a puppy that no one may have wanted and now look at the happiness he,s brought you, even if he snor,s.
My dog likes to sleep with my oldest son's smelly work shirts also he Hasan old pillow that's all Raty but just loves that old thing I was going to get rid of it till he looked at me lil I was taking his best friend away dog like the weird things 😂
I got a new dog yesterday, it’s the dogs first night and she keeps trying to jump up and sleep in my bed 😂 But in the first night, she already sleeps in pancake position! She’s very calm, and follows me everywhere. About 10 minutes after she got home, she ran up to me, and laid down for a belly rub! I’m so lucky to have found her 🥰
I know how I feel. The only dog I’ve ever known passed 11 months ago. A tip is to get a puppy so u know that he or she will be with u for a long time. That worked for me.
My dog does all of them, she's definitely a funny one 😂 she gets really derpy sleeping on her back as well and will sometimes stare at me with a big grin while in that position LOL

My housemates' dog Brush is a Pomsky. When they first got him about 6 years ago, he would sort of scooch his way under the couch to sleep, usually while on his back. We live in the San Diego area, so it does get hot in summer and cold in winter, but never in my life have I ever seen another dog do this. We call it the Mole.
My dad had rescued a senior dog and in the five years he lived with us before passing away, always slept in the dead cockroach position. It's been two years since he passed, but knowing how happy, how much he loved and trusted us really means the world to me. I'm so glad he enjoyed his final years with us ❤ My dog is a burrower and loves to be completely covered, head and all which makes winter nights even better and our puppy prefers to be on his back or in the dead cockroach position. He'll wake up and stay in the position while staring at me which looks ridiculous haha
Same here. My two dogs sleep in many positions. On their stomach. On their sides all stretched out. On their backs. Bout all positions. They kind of give little barks in their sleep. So previous
I remembered that time when my dog was sleeping in a snowball position.. it looks so cute! So i slept while hugging him and he instantly go into the pancake position 😂❤😍
@@LolbitDoesStuffmine sleeps in like every position but mine does curl into a perfect round circle to and she does that mostly and she also is a chihuahua dachshund mix also known as the chiwennie
How about 'The Husky'? This sleeping position is a mix off all of the previously mentions, including the bonus. But also includes climbing into bed with you (and your partner) and laying across both of you or deciding which pile of clothing is comfy and lay across ALL of it. It also includes becoming a doorstop/draft stopper, usually at a front or back door. Because that's my dog😂
Q: What does it mean when my dog sleeps like this? A: it can mean he loves you and trusts you...........or that he’s terrified and feels unsafe ....thanks😕
Both of my dogs like to do the sphinx, tight ball, and pancake. And its usually a pattern. When they go to sleep like the curl up in the spots of the cough that retain the most heat and then they somehow transition to pancake mode during their sleep. When they wake up they go into a sphinx position and after a couple of minutes they go back to pancake mode lol. Right now, one of my dogs is doing the sphinx on the stairs and watching the door for my mom.
My mom's dog is always hitting me when he's trying to give me a high five or handshake but 100 percent of the time he means to hit me cause he's mad im laying on the couch and slaps me-then he trys rolling me off the couch- so i have to get up and put on horrid henry- he likes that show and so do i ;-;
Pretty sure it's a breed thing too. I wouldn't say a donut ball says the dog is untrusting of its loving owner, it could just be what it prefers due to body shape and breed type. My little chihuahua from day one as a puppy slept in a donut ball and he is spoiled so much with love and affection and completely in a safe environment. Happy tails and playful prancing all day long.
a dog the size of a chihuahua isn't very good at keeping itself warm so probably takes that position to make itself warm and comfortable while sleeping.
My dog used to always lay on his back, it was adorable. I really miss waking up in the mornings and seeing him asleep like that 🤣 those were the best mornings, I miss him
My dog wants to sleep on me or near me 9/10 lol I can't do anything about it. If I move her she inches her way right back next to me or on me. Anybody else's dog like this?
Yes but in the car. Here I'll tell you I was out of my seat my mom said I have to get up in my seat , I got up in my seat and my dog was on the belt so I tried to move him.lol I couldn't do anything about it, when I moved him back away he instantly came back on the belt.this annoyed me btw his name is ringo, I finally got it.who else's dog does THIS?
My big brother was a dog and he died when I was 3. I remember so much about him. Like , when he scolded me by barking, when we danced together , when he ate from my hands, when he always knew when we would come back home and always stood in front of the door , waiting for us and many other things Iike how he always cared for me when I was a baby because babies are very weak. I am always so jealous because my parents and grand parents always got to spend more time with him and me, only 3 years. After that I never got a pet my whole life
Awwwwww I’m young and my dog all ways sleeps in the position we’re it feels safe next to me and when it’s late she goes into a snowball and Watches the door to protect me, I love my dog so much
6:00 I once got mad at my dog and scared her and she curled up right in a ball then I started talking in a soothing voice to her and she went straight to her back. 😁
awww my dog always sleeps on her side and she LOVES and usually is covered in a blanket and she rests her head on a pillow. hearing that it means she is comfortable and trusting me and my family makes me very very happy
Bro.. I didn’t realize how high I was until I finished the rest of this video and realized I just sat here for 10 minutes watching a video on how dogs sleep......
Cute visuals, great voice, but some of this info is incorrect or misleading. Dogs bred to be burrowing hunters love to sleep burrowed up. They're not feeling insecure. Dogs bred to have "pushed in" faces (brachycephalic breeds) such as bulldogs, have difficulty breathing and may sleep on their backs because it's easier for them to breathe, not because they're feeling unusually relaxed.
My labrador used to sleep on his back almost every night. Maybe some dogs really are just comfortable, because mine didn't have any problems with breathing.
I don't know about that. My pug rarely slept on her back. She usually did the snowball or the pancake and sometimes laid flat on her tummy with her front and back legs spread out. Maybe she didn't have trouble breathing.
My youngest Norwegian Elk Hound cross Cocker Spaniel sleeps in the snowball all the times. This may be because if she needs to get something or I bring her my leftovers she doesn't miss out on the extra food.
My border collie takes over my bed, but I don’t care, she really likes to force herself under the blankets. Even if it’s summer. If she’s dreaming her ears and eyes will twitch. She will also sometimes give a little hushed bark, but it’s pretty rare. She will also sometimes sleep on me, and again I don’t care, I find it adorable, even though I can’t breath sometimes. She likes to sun bathe in the pancake a lot.
My chihuahua is more often a borrower as I always make sure he has a blanket in his bed with him. I think it's just the breed, he stays cold a lot of times so he likes a blanket. The funniest thing about it is his ability to "tuck himself in" as he is quite the pro at it.
The picture here is of my previous dog who bonded with me as no human. Having said the same, I have now another red Norwich terrier, all of eight months now, of which four with me. She sleeps on her side, exposing her belly, neck... or on her back. Recently, at a lunch with friends, she stretched out from my lap, half her body suspended, to lean her head on a much lower table, fast asleep. A photographer took a snap of her! I am filled with joy to see she is as comfortable in her new home. She arrived terribly sad... I guessed she missed her family, felt her pain, and tried hard to make up. In these four months, she has adapted to new sounds, scared stiff. I try to be in her place, understand her fears, and slowly, together we are becoming a team, overcoming such shortfalls. She loves now snuggling upto me when asleep... and upon awakening, is the delight of my life.. That expresses how much I truly love the company of this superior being.. superior to us humans...
It all depends on where we are. My Basset sleeps in the pancake when she is in bed with me. When we are on the couch, she curls up in a ball next to me
When my dog was a puppy and I would sleep with him he would be in a ball against the wall its only been about 10 months and now he's flat completely leaning against me with his head on my arm and when we wake up he just rolls into a dead cockroach until we actually get out of bed sometimes we even watch the sunrise together I call it the crusty eye sunrise cause his eyes get a little crusty
We had 2 dogs when the other one died (years ago) I cried. And the other one (he's like a family because he guards me and my family since I was in my moms tummy) Died years ago because of poison 😣😥😭. This vid makes me remember them
My puppy looooves to sleep as tightly curled in as possible, preferably against my legs. But when she’s napping she tucks all her limbs in and makes a little loaf, it’s so cute
The problem is my dog only goes to sleep when I call asleep, the rest isnthe time it runs a round like a madman until I close my eyes and don't move, if it hears me wake up it wakes up and runs at me
My Frenchie’s favourite sleep position on the bed is the “cockroach” position. He is also an unique dog who can stretch his hind legs on the sofa head rest and lay his head and front paws on the sofa seat. Woof woof
During the day if me and my family are all upstairs my dog will sleep st the top of the steps in the sphinx position and at night she curls up under the blankets on her back with me 🥺 I love her sm
Shayla Tickle I have been associated with both breeds , but never mixed , interesting combination, have a high strung lab male wouldn't want to see him mixed.
And I have a big, loving great pyranese boy! He is such a sweetheart but forget keeping him in a fence! We have a farm with 5ft no climb fence. He jumps over lile a deer!
Mine is a Great pyrenees/Pitt Bull mix he sleeps all ways but next to me in super man position, think he sleeps like that to go always get up fast to protect me. I love my dog.
I have a 16 year old pug and he has always slept in the sphinx position even now that he's deaf and partially blind. But he will rest his chin on the armrest or side of his basket. He's always ready to go. Also have a 1 and a half year old Staffy who sleeps in various positions but mostly snowball :)
