Oh this is just fantastic! We have lived Marysville and played in Bellingham for 20 years now, and you are showing my precious man (Robnord1), great places we didn't know were there! Thank you so much. We're going next wk , May 9 or10 Hope to meet you!
Janis Nordmeyer Hi Janis, I hope you and "precious man" have a great time on the Hertz Trail. I am planning on being in Seattle this weekend hopefully going on a lake cruise etc. Its the beginning of boating season so hopefully I can get a few videos out of that. If you guys happen to do the Hertz Trail I hope you make it to the end. I understand there was a landslide that closed it from going through but I've never seen it. Have Fun.
Back in the 70s, I went to Camp Firwood for four summers. One of the regular rituals there was each cabin going for an overnight camping trip across the lake. The rail bed trail was easily walkable, but at every creek there were abutments but no bridges or trestles, so crossing the creeks was a bit of a pain. According to the camp director at that time, the rail bed was private property, and Camp Firwood had permission from the owner (whoever that was) to use the trail and land for overnight camping trips. I thought that was a shame, and that it would be a great hiking trail for the public. It's great to see that it's now happening.
ricker Yea, the falls are awesome on heavy flow days but the thing is, its usually raining as well. You've gotta wait until the rain stops for your walk. Then its a bit like "A WALK THROUGH THE WOODS ON AN EARLY SPRING Morning?" :O) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jkmczxipcps.html
My favourite log is still there! 0:47 I lived in Whatcom Co. in the seventies and by the falls was my favorite camping spot. ALL the rules that subsequently have been posted I broke (and then some)! My Husky loved it. Anyway , you had to hack in and climb over and negotiate around stuff then. It was a rare year to run into someone else. I can still envision camping equipment drying out afterwards. ...
