Gonna hard pass on any of these books. I don’t care about rarity for a variant I wouldn’t be normally buying anyway. I’ll continue to only buy books I care about and will avoid mystery boxes or now I guess packs of comics that have no actual significance other than manufactured scarcity.
Not feeling this. I'm glad the selection is bigger than just X-Men 97 #1 over and over, but it's still not doing it for me. You couldn't even tell which foil variants they were supposed to be. Other than the highest rarity I guarantee these will be on eBay for $5 each in a couple of months.
trading card guy gone comics here, weighing does work because foils are usually heavier especially with all the textures that are on them, solid move busting out the scale haha
How would weight help here? Comics are not the same as cards. Comics have different weight depending on the how many pages it has. Cards are all the same size.
That Doom Silver is the only thing standing out for me. Don’t mind the packs but not sure on the fomo prices I was seeing on whatnot streams. Tough one as the market dictates but if I was to spend $350 on a pack there’s a list of books that I would buy before what’s in the packs
Same, Doom is the standout for me. Little interest in a mediocre event book (the red-band would have been okay), and definitely don’t need two Dullpool books, or the fake Spider-Man.
WhatNot has been the death of the RU-vid giveaway.. It's nice of you to reward your WhatNot followers for your RU-vid success.. RU-vid should crack down on that, like what's in it for youtube, and the RU-vid only follower of your, who want nothing to do with WhatNot, but enjoy your content, this will put a bad taste in their mouth.
@@revoltpuppyUnlike yourself, I care about Swagglhaus’s channel, unlike yourself I’m familiar with how partnering with WhatNot can spell the 💀of one’s channel.. so despite you not caring, no one cares about you, so it doesn’t matter.. What have you done for Swag lately than this poor attempt at trying to defend his actions lol.. Thanks for showing us you don’t care. 🫡
@@revoltpuppy When i say “What’s in it for RU-vid”.. Im talking RU-vid as an entity, the entire platform, which for me includes you, and everyone else that uses YT, from creators to the unsigned in viewers, and ultimately yes the company itself.. Im not being a prick for the sake of being one for fun, Im giving a channel I like a heads up in a blunt and perhaps harsh way to get my point across. And I know what im talking about, want me to make a video to show you who’d agree with me pal? Lol.. Ask Packman rips, if you know RU-vid so well you know who he is, and watch any video of his for like 30 seconds.. He’s sponsored by whatnot, he does a sweet giveaway in almost every video that has the stipulation that you follow him on whatnot, just like this here.. Only he also does a second giveaway, that’s for his RU-vid only subscribers, he doesn’t leave them out.. and take a wild guess who called him out? And now our guy Packman does it right making RU-vid happy. As he had originally made his giveaways exclusive to whatnot followers.
Whatnot Neoleaves - I watch your videos a lot and signed up to whatnot specifically for this. Keep up the good work and the great content!!! Andddd I wouldn’t mind opening up one of those packs myself (hint hint) lol
I just had one issue with these packs. Most sellers got 2 boxes but the big whatnot accounts got a boatload of them. The prices were ridiculous high when they sold on the big streamers. I was patient and supported smaller sellers and the most I paid was 113$. I wish whatnot would supper the smaller streamers that need help and not just go for the easy buck
I like the concept of them, but as a consumer, I don’t like the fact it’s auctioned. It’s good for whatnot sellers to make money, but def taking advantage of FOMO
Someone probably said it, but I feel like the weighing is moot here, given that the different comic titles probably weigh different amounts, themselves.
Why would I want the same comics over and over of these new bad comics? Now if Marvel put key issues of older comics with the foil covers that would be cool
Whatnot: ComicsAndLegendsCollector So wait.. Marvel pulled an Acetate-Gate?!?...Repurposed or reprinted with a new cover? Its a win/win for Marvel/WN...Both have declining sales and both have their gimmicks...As Flava Flav would say: "Dont believe the hype" Now all we need is CGC to not do their due diligence and say its a 1st print and bend them along the way and not take responsibilty for it...This whole comic system has its own ecosystem of making its own money not sure how it loses money. Wouldnt mind a variant of a beloved book but agree that balance is the key to not over loading the speculator..(Um, I meant collector) or reprinting over produced/unsold garbage and wrapping them up like a mystery bag. Prepare to pay a heffy price if youre going to chase these...
Came off Whatnot earlier this year..became to obsessive chasing Vampirella & Gun Honey variants.. Nice selection of comics even thougĥI am not generally a Marvel fan..
Whatnot revoltpuppy Since everything is foil, I don’t know that the weight will be that meaningful for finding rare variants, although the colored foils seem to have less foil overall than the standard, all-over foil, meaning the lighter packs would be more likely to have better variants. In this case, I think weighing them gives you a greater chance of Doom, since it's a giant-sized issue; the heaviest pack had two Dooms in it. But that book in particular is hot, so not a bad deal that way.
Whatnot mjgoodman. Thanks for making the vid. You're right on the title selection being good for these. I did like how that silver foil looked as well.
The silver foil is partial foil. Dr. Doom isn't covered with foil and it makes it pop. This is how they should do foil covers going forward. I hate the regular foil. It covers up the art.
Whatnot milkshake008 ...I'm not one to care about variants. But I recently got back into comics after I got 10 of my childhood books graded. I just enjoy the hobby.
I’m not mad at these comic packs at all like all the boomers in the comments are. I think they’re a creative way of getting people in the hobby. Whatnot JoeJoeCop
For real, they should be happy the new speculators are fighting it out for variants on the trading floor and meanwhile keeping their reading hobby afloat and unbothered.
Whatnot grenwail I have noticed that the recent rounds of standard foil all have that color saturation issue, one of those things that I just shake my head at and wonder why they sell. I do like the idea of these packs, but much like cardboard I can't imagine that the average price point is going to match the expected return, so just like with cards, don't rip packs, buy singles.
Whatnot tattooed_kimo The third foil, or the second DOOM you pulled is the silver. In trading cards the silver has a rainbow refraction to it. Cool books though, I like the idea. I always like a good mystery pack.
WhatNot sidney2sydney. The foil editions are nice, but I am not willing to pay the premium. Agreed, I also believe it needs to be a gimmick done sparingly, like the “Best of the Year” set.
Lol people just saying “tHiS iS wOrThLeSs TrAsH!” Of course these won’t have as much long term appeal or value as your run of the mill keys. Maybe the rarest foil could be an exception? Idk, time will tell. But can’t we admit that this seems at least kinda fun?? Idk why we have to have such a disdain for random chance in the comic hobby. Trust me, I get it, I don’t love manufactured scarcity either. And I won’t be buying any packs. (Not gonna lie tho, I’d be stoked to have a silver foil Doom or Ultimate Spidey lol) But can’t we enjoy this a little bit? Or at least allow others to enjoy it if they actually do like this aspect of collecting? Also, I totally agree this could be cool if they stick to the hits in a limited capacity and not saturate the market with endless variants of every single book.
