WHATS IN THE BOX 4
Here's an un boxing video of my latest Shiner Distribution top up order that's arrived at Toddtwist skate shop.
Not the most exciting product, but you do get to hear what I think about knee pads, and the reason i've chose not to wear reading glasses in this clip !!
Goods include this drop are from 187, Santa Cruz, Bronson, Independent, D-Street and Birdhouse

i got the 187 six pack, the hibiscus/floral pattern. i thought they were a bit more festive than black or camo. the tan/orange ones are kinda cool too. i DIY my rails from uhmwpe cutting board slab

Hey Sean a Q for you as you're 'in the trade'. I prefer Smith Scabs knee pads (have also tried tried 187 and Triple Eight) and I'm after replacing my 20yr old scabs with some Elite Pro IIs but I can't find any stock in the US (XL). Smith Scabs themselves (CA) even say 'we don't know when we are getting stock'. I just wondered if you have ever dealt with them (SS20) and is this normal??? I did find a pair in Australia but the shipping and potential duty would be more than the cost of the pads! BTW I also use those Derby wrist guards and would recommend them. Cheers mate.

Smith pads have been on a decline since 187 came about. There's not been a UK importer for them in at least 6 years, that I know of. I'm amazed they are still going. If Smith in the US say they don't know when they are getting stock, i'd not expect it to happen... Maybe search e-bay, or roller derby shops. I know they usewd to sell well to Derby skaters, so maybe you can locate some that way ?

@@toddtwist OK that seems to be the case, maybe they are just running down stock. Shame, they are good pads. With some tlc my current ones will probably outlast me. Thanks for your insight and suggestion.

what are your thoughts on wheel core spacers?

I always use spacers. If you think of any other mechanical engineering device with bearings, it's not going to not have spacers between the bearings. Without them your bearings are not going to last as long.

@@toddtwist i used them when they came with bearings, they often don't. i recently bought 9 sets of them and working them into all of my setups. i def see the difference in how long they last and the protection from lateral stresses
