WHEAT - growing, harvesting, processing, and making bread

In this video I show the ENTIRE process of working with wheat, from seed, to plants, to processing, and finally, to baking bread. This is a simple, inexpensive way to grow your own wheat and make it into bread...BUT it takes an enormous amount of physical labor and time. This video took almost a year to make!

I'm glad you showed the container of seeds at the end. I was about to flip out if all that hard work went into making only two loaves of bread.

Thank you for creating and sharing your videos. They are so great. My 5 year old daughter and I where talking about words that begin with WH, we got to the word wheat and she had so many questions. We found your videos and we both have learned so much from vocabulary to the actual process. Thank you!

I love to see this! I love seeing people knowing how to do stuff old school. We are so privileged. Who knows we might be heading into times where you would need to learn how to survive. This generation is something else. Knowing how to forage, grow your own food, hunt and fish. All very necessary stuff to learn. It’s just sad

Nice video 👍! I think if you add eggs to the ingredients, and a little bit of baking soda powder it will give you fluffy bread.

Breadmaking tip: AUTOLYSE ! Form a wet sponge with about 2/3 the flour and most of the water, cover, and let rest at room temp for 2-4 hrs, or overnight in fridge. During autolysis, and amalyse and protease present will begin scissoring up the long chain carbs and proteins, and develop the gluten without the need for excessive kneading. Then, add your remaining flour and your dry yeast, knead to form a loaf, and rise until doubled or tripled ... then bake. The autolysis does wonders for the flavor and texture, improves the gluten quality, and helps it leaven more easily and evenly. BTW, Ive found thst a 50:50 mix of wholemeal flour and bread flour give the best breadmaking results.

Great video! Subscribed❤ Growing your own is a great experience. I've grown soft Winter white and hard Spring red. Now I grow some einkorn and spelt, and purchase organic wheat berries AND I still purchase organic wheat flour...just don't have the time to dedicate to full flour production. I feel like I got the most out of my homegrown by sprouting the berries and incorporating the sweet chewy little nugs into my yeasted bread loaves, quickbreads and hot cereals. My spelt and einkorn are specifically to go into multi grain flatbread that I vacuum pack to last me all year.

So, do you think that your bread is gluten-free? Do you think that gluten is added to regular whole wheat flour in the store? Or do you think that the gluten is already in the wheat naturally?
