I love it. it's amazing how strong they are in need to get my engine on mine rebuilt it's got something ticking feels like a wrist pin :(. but it's never been rebuilt and it's a 1974 so I can't complain. she will be back to work in no Time. you have some beautiful tractors there
This is the coolest thing to see these Wheelhorses working together.Their were other machines at the time , but none really came close to the popularity of the Wheelhorse. Too bad the Toro people are blindsided + let the the Wheelhorse die!
Really nice vid guys! Hail to the Wheelhorse! I have two C-101's in working condition and would LOVE to have a garden that size with plow, disc and tiller get in some seat time like that. I only have a little truck patch to work though and rear tiller on my 520-H. Those Raiders and other smaller C-series will outwork most GT's of today. Ten hp is plenty to "get er done".
Excellent video man 👍 Showing how its done. I have to ask even tho this video is very old now, what size Firestones are on those? Looks like 1 has 23x10.5's but the other looks to have the 23x8.50's....finally ordered up a set of 8.50's for my old ariens, theres almost NO info at all out there about them though
I loved my old wheel-horse with the 8hp kohler. Only problem... the clutch+brake combination was an old band brake. The band brake could not hold the tractor on a hill, especially if some slippery grass was in it. If you made the mistake of trying to apply the brake while going up a steep hill, it was like you threw it into neutral. You ended up rolling back down the hill really fast!
I rented a full-size tractor & plow from a farm supply store (one day rental) for my initial plowing (deeper, quicker, etc), followed by towing a powered cultivator behind my lawn mower to now maintain it. The results have been excellent, enough to leave me with product to sell for some extra cash.
Man I need one of those my old quad track needs to get grass seed on in the fall my dad bought shit soul full of big huge rocks for $100 bucks what a waste my Husqvarna couldn't do that that's why I always say old is better this proves it a little garden tractor can probably do my whole entire quad track in 3 days.
Love Wheel Horse. I have an 85 416-8 with a Kohler single and a (?) 312-8 with a Kohler too. Both have lug rear tires and oversized ATV front. Great machines and I often use one instead of breaking out the big rigs. They will do a lot of work for you. Really, their biggest limitation is their weight.
I have a 1976 8 hp Wheel Horse B-80. Just bought it this year and absolutely love it. Right now it's just used as a lawn mover but when my garden expands I'll use my Wheel Horse to plow it.
I see by the front ends that its kinda routine to push one or the other out of being stuck... just great machines.. I had a D-180 until last year when the auto trans finally gave out. I replaced it with a 2001 CC 3184. Its decent but not the machine the Horse was.
that's some nice ground. I plowed a 20x30 garden, with an 8hp wheel horse, for the first time on our lot and had a couple of wheelbarows full of stones. nice work
A pretty nice little tractor, when I was a kid my parents had this little Alice Chalmer tractor with the engine in the back that we used I haven't seen one in years
Cool video. Apppears that you don't have many rocks in your soil - lucky for you. (Of course, you're tilling backyard topsoil with lawn tractors, so it really should go pretty smoothly.) Regardless, it looks like fun. When you're done, wanna come till up my yard next? :-)
