I'm watching this show with my non-reader hubsy (I've read the books dozens of times!). Moiraine's Manetheren speech so far is his favorite scene. He says it was well delivered, and it's what hooked him!
Apparently they were going to take that scene out originally and rumor has it that Sanderson fought to keep it in? I will never understand some of the people in Hollywood who think so little of the people who watch their content, that they presume we will get bored with a 4 min long speech, rather than appreciate highly skilled acting and a simple, yet fabulous story.
@@HelloNewman From what I understand, Rafe fought hard for this scene, and perhaps Brandon did too. It's legit very difficult to have a character relay a monologue like that from horseback, and that was part of the concern for it, but Rafe fought to have that and it needed to be there for sure. It's one of many reasons why I trust him.
I went and reread the Manetheren speech. It is such a great scene, and Rosamund Pike's delivery was amazing. I tear up every time I watch/read the Manetheren speech. Can't wait to see your reaction the the next episode!
And now the awesome thing is that you can hear her give the speech, in full, in context. Rosamund Pike has just finished narrating the audiobook for The Eye of the World, which released couple of weeks ago 👍🏾
@@zunaidparker yeah I heard. But I still haven’t finished the series. I’m on book 8 atm so waiting to finish the whole series and then get back to EotW. I’ll pick up the one that she narrated.
Until episode 4, this was my favorite so far, and that scene with Moiraine telling the story of Manetheren.....so amazing. She brought that bit to life so well. Rosamund is amazing. 10 out of 10 for that scene. Rafe does really understand the heart of these books, and I've been very pleased so far with how they have brought it to screen, changes and all.
Rafe Judkins have said that he pretty much had to fight blood and teeth to keep the Manetheren scene as the producers felt it ate too much screen time. I'm glad they kept it as it builds up the lore of the world so much.
Yeah, sometimes networks really make dumb decisions. The Manetheren scene made the episode. If episode 1 was a 7 (my rating), this song made episode 2 an 8. Without it, it would have been a 7 as well. I wonder in what other ways Amazon held Rafe back that could have upped my ratings more for the first three episodes… a lot of complaints from fans and WoT newcomers alike around rushed pacing. I am starting to suspect that is amazon’s fault and not Rafe’s.
I think the changes to Perrin’s story in episode 1 is leading him to punish himself. That is why he is not seeking help for his wound. Found your channel through your song cover. Subscribing now!

Totally was not expecting Episode 2 today, it was a great little surprise though. I felt this episode was so much better than the first, the changes, while still big and glaring, seem less noticeable now behind how the show is presenting itself, Moiraine's story is easily one of the scenes that I enjoyed the most, the actress is absolutely killing the role. I also like the introduction to The Whitecloak Questioners, and how they differ from the others, I thought was both really shocking and really good. I also really liked the look of Shadar Logath, very grey and dark and tightly packed in, like the buildings themself were oppressively looming over the group of trespassers i really hope the series is allowed to get through all of the books, because i surprisingly liked how the progression of the faction's story concluded by the end of the series. Can't wait for episode 3. Happy Thanksgiving.
Bah! I’ve had more time due to a little vacation, and I won’t have the next one out until next week, probably, so I figured I’d take a gamble and let her rip. I agree about the show finding its own path and how it is developing. As a new WoT fan, I’m very optimistic. Happy Thanksgiving!
