Make your bicycle wheels round and true. Saul shows you the easy way to true your own wheels. Adapted from Velotique's Popular Advanced Bicycle Repair Clinic. www.velotique.com
An excellent educator, good diction, perfect sequence of instruction, teach by example and a practical demonstration. I like the stress relieving action. Congratulations.
Not interested in the truing process. Rather I'm just listening to how this teacher is doing a demonstration. The richness of vocab, the tone and volume of his voice, and some other things are quite impressive. I'm a teacher myself and I have learned a lot from this gentleman. Thank you very much.
The best and easiest to understand video on the subject. The guy in the video concisely deals with the fundamentals in a no nonsense, layman's terms manner - something which most others fail to do. I used to think wheel truing an absolute no-go area..."it's too complicated, just leave it to the LBS"... I'd tell myself. But now, all because of this video, I'm right this very second off to peruse the internet for one of these Park wheel truing stands.
I never knew or understood what wheel truing is until now. My front & rear bicycle wheels wobbles causing it to skid or touch with the brake pads and it's a new bicycle that I already rode for about a distance of about 40 miles more or less using a gas power engine (moped my bicycle) to run like a motor scooter. I thought the problem was the hubs or the ball bearings in the hubs that got worn out so fast. I was about to replace the hubs until I check with my bicycle owner's manual which states possible cause of wheel wobbling, wheel out of true and among other things. So fortunately for me, I check youtube and came across this awesome demonstration video to understanding & fixing wobbling on a bicycle wheel, excellent explanatory & demonstration video! Thank you for posting this excellent explanatory & demonstration video! :)
That is the way to explain things. Every technichal teacher or any one who wants to teach should watch this and learn. three stars all the way. Thanks a milion. THIS GUY IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE WHY ALL EDUCATION SYSTEM IS IN A REAL NEEED OF CHANGE LIKE THE WHOLE ECONOMICAL SYSTEM.
This is a great video! I would have liked to hear a little more regarding even spoke tension. I think that is the most important aspect of strong wheels. Also when making ALL spoke adjustments, turn the nipple past the desired point by a 1/4 turn and then turn back to desired point, taking the twist out of the spoke. This way youll do much less spoke relieving and retruing . When you have reached the desired level of trueness, stress relieve and true over and over until wheel remains true after stress relieving. If you dont stress relieve, as soon as you ride the bike youll hear those pops and pings and the wheel will be out if true again.
Fahad Usman i saw this one guy use a ziptie on the brake bike's wheel forks and where it rubbed on the tie was where the issue was , just have to cut the zip tie to where it would rub on the wheel
What he doesn't stress enough in this video is that when tightening the spokes one turns the nipple counter clockwise. Watch .3:50 (we see the nipple head turn clockwise but he is actually turning the nipple counter clockwise because he's on the other side of the rim)
Hello , this is a very rare comment because I rearly make the effort . in my opinion , and I watched a few lately , perfect video on the subject . perfect voice and perfect timing , perfect sound , perfect viewpoint changes , in writing this , I now realize to me this video is like a Bob Ross video on the subject of thruing. I will no doubt end up with a happy wheel , thank you very much .
Very thorough and easily understood. Thanks for not rushing through and for not assuming people know the details others leave out. That's the way instructionals should be done. Like a teacher once instructed me, pretend your "reader" just landed on Earth from Mars. Great job.
Excellent demystification of wheel truing I've seen. The video gave me the confidence to straighten my own wheels on my newly purchased used Park Truing stand.
I know you get this a lot but THANK YOU! Seriously, yours is the most explanatory, succinct and most helpful video on this issue I have seen. No long-winded speeches or pointless conversation as so many other truing videos were. Thank you
Went for a ride this morning & fell flat outta my mtb while riding on a wet wooden bridge. Rode home with my front tire wobbling & went straight to youtube & found this video. I'm gonna get meself those cool truing tools to straighten my tire. Thanks mate! God bless ya!
Excellent video with crystal clear instruction. It's always better to do it with the tyre off. It's not advisable to mess with wheels if you've never done it. Go to a bike repair shop and get it done by a professional. This guy makes it look easy but he is a pro after all.
this is the best, most simple video explaining how to true a wheel. After watching this video I went straight to true my wheel and save money from going to my LBS. thank you so much. Love all of your video. You are the BEST!
So I just trued my 1993 Wolber mountain bike wheel using this video and tip about high ring low ring method !!!! I’m super happy and I sincerely thank you for making a video that I understand and was able to use 👍🏼👍🏼 I subscribed... I too an avid x-country skier out here in Saskatchewan
I used to spend hours of truing and afraid to do it kinda bad cuz I wasn't looking the right video as a tutorial, after many years I spend just 2hrs an my wheel is super true, more than I used to have as result before, this is the 1st time am so happy with my truing job thanks to this video and this professional, thx for explain it so good :DD.
It's a nice feeling after a hard ride and you can do all these jobs on your bike yourself... Preventive maintenance ,good lubrication regimes...and most of all truing your own wheels .. Keeping your bike ready for the next epic adventure.
First wheel truing video I have watched that clearly shows which way to tighten and loosen spokes. Also liked explanation of caliper function on truing stand. Thank you. I am going to the dump to salvage junked bicycles wheels for truing practice.
I'm so happy I found your video. You addressed radial truing, which is something many other videos do not explain. Awesome delivery and very clear!! Thanks again.
Out of all the tutorials I have seen, all the bicycle repair books I have ever read, you explain truing a bike wheel the best and so eloquently. Although I won't be purchasing a truing stand since I don't need to do this too often, at least lateral truing will do the job. Thank you for taking the time to help others like myself understand this skillful technic of truing. Cheers
I think every kid in my neighborhood back in the late 70s wanted to be a bicycle mechanic! I remember my first successful repair at 13 y/o NKG hub with the single sprocket the brakes would fail to go backward. I was so happy the part was 25 cents that the bike mechanic let us watch him do it. Thank you for the education.
this is such a clean, clear-cut and knowledge based presentation that there's nothing left to say... except, congratulations on a superb piece of technical instruction from someone who obviously knows their subject inside out. Has got me started on my own wheels instead of heading to the shop...!!
what an excellent video, very clear instruction, after viewing this I attempted to remove a wobble from my MTB wheel, and to my surprise have managed to do it. Something I would never have dared to try previously. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge.
