Very nice tractor. My dad had a C-160 automatic for years with the same blower. His was hydro drive with hydro lift. He sold the tractor two years ago and bought a 520-H and kept the blower. I love the 520-H but miss the old C-160. It was a real brute with that single 16! That tractor mowed about 2 acres for years and years.
I just got a single stage for one of my two C-101's. I cant wait to see how it does in the snow this year. Im not worried about getting snowed in because as it stands I have a Cub LT1050 (26 hp) with two stage blower, plow for light work, Johnny Bucket Jr. and then have one C-101 with weights, chains and blower and the other with 26" ATV tires on the back and a plow. I need to go play in some snow!!!!!
Nice 'Horse! Great machines year 'round. Just FYI: That is actually a C-161 8-speed. The C-160 was made 1974-1977, had narrower hoodstand, fuel tank under hood (where your battery is), etc. In 1978, they redesigned the hoodstand & moved the fuel tank to under the rear fender, and they became the C-161 for 1978-1979.
?? The hoods are the same on the C-160s & C-161s. The differences are as I noted above: The hoodstand (the assembly surrounding the shifters, the lift mech., & up to support the rear of the hood) & the fuel tank is moved to under rear fender on C-161 - later models. The dash itself is the same style as earlier models - just mounted on different hoodstand.
Ok you guys know your wheel horses. The truth is the tractor started out as a piece of junk 8 HP kohler some thing. I am not sure of the year. I had a set off decals that said C160 and the engine to go with along. I just use it to blow snow and no shows . Sorry for the confusion. happy blowing snow in Pa.
That makes sense. It was likely a C-81 then - either model 81-08K801 (1978) or 91-08K801 / 91-08K802 (both 1979 models). The C-81 used the exact same transaxle as the C-161 8-speeds, so horsepower is the only difference.
@Pocketraisins .......and just added a newer 1995 416-H with the original Onan engine. I put the single stage blower on the 416-H and the plow on the C-101 which I retuned. Both run great, but so far only two inches of slush a few weeks ago. I am Jonesing for some "appreciable accumulation", lol! The old Kohler K241 is a good canidate for the low idle contest....wicked when warmed up.
I have a c165 16hp with the same blower and I seem to struggle with any more then 6 inches of snow. Any ideas on adjustments or anything I can do to increase my snow blowing capabilities?
