When ‘God’ comes to doorstep | Muthappan Vellattam | Theyyam Kannur 

#Muthappan is performed in most of the houses at #kannur on any special occasion. This is done as an offering to God Shiva for good deeds.
The nine major communities which perform the Theyyam belong to historically marginalized communities such as the Vannan, Malayan, Velan, and Mavilan communities, who are classified as Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the state.
The ritual performers of Muthappan Theyyam belong to the Vannan community of Kerala. The puja rituals and rites for Muthappan are performed by the Thiyyar community.
