Making a maximum is a dream for most players, and if somebody makes one, it's already a big career achievement. However, sometimes a 147 break involves really crazy recovery shots, which make the result even more impressive. Here is the compilation of the top shots that become a part of snooker history as the shots that led to a maximum. Ronnie O'Sullivan, Stephen Hendry, Judd Trump, Mark Selby, John Higgins... So many legends of the game are featured here.

I love the fact that despite getting more 147's than anyone in history, the only shots from Ronnie were also the only ones that didn't come from a poor positional shot. The left handed pot at the end was insane!

I was thinking the same, mate. You could argue the first one was a little out of position. The man hardly runs out of the position.

Every generation you see a magician come along to push the game on and to bring in stronger players. Higgins, then Davis, onto Hendry and now Sullivan, but we are not seeing anyone else really coming up that has the potential to dominate. I really think the records set by by players already will be unlikely to be broken.

Well said. Maximums were very rare back then, and his shot on the green was insane. Too little is said about this break. He didn't go into the pack until he absolutely had to, plus it was the Masters, plus it was against the incredible Jimmy White. The pink was pretty amazing too. I've seen almost all of them (the televised ones anyway), and this one remains my favourite.
