Hwasa has a song called "Be Calm", it was the song at the end of Starry Night and is a beautiful song. I also recommend "Don't" with Loco Hwasa is great with lyricism, especially playing on words. They can be very poetic at sometimes, or very playful. I feel like she uses her solos, as a chance to express her feelings, but she also experiments a bit on b sides as well 😊

Hwasa is incredible! You must check out the Maria MV, it's got powerful visuals, and also listen to LMM, one of her other solos, it's stunning vocally and another powerful story and visual. Hwasa is just 😍🔥🔥🔥

Hwasa has this signature style of creating nothing but bangers but with deep relatable lyrics. It's always very personal with her music like Twit is inspired by her past relationship, while Maria and I'm a B addresses her struggles and accepting/embracing herself. She even has a song about life after losing a close family member. Hope you check out her mini albums as well, she and the rest of the Mamamoo girls really have no skip solo discographies :)

Mamamoo nails the girl crush concept. Hwasa is a great lyricist, she helped with every song you played. Regarding Twit, that song was inspired in herself, she is the "twit". She said in a interview that she gives to much in a relationship and forgets about herself. María and I'm a 빛 (word play so is actually "I'm a light" in Korean but you know the real meaning xD) are actually related. María is the good ending and I'm a 빛 is the bad ending. In the end of Maria you can see Mamamoo members visiting Hwasa and hugging her, she got through all the sh*t thanks to the people supporting her but in I'm a 빛 she is hiding herself by acting like a b*tch, she's giving them what they expect from her to protect her real self. The girls put a lot of though in their songs. Happy you found your bias! But you better buckle you seat because you haven't see them in a daily basis and they gonna grab you by the throat and make you change desicion every couple minutes

Maria is Hwasa's baptismal name, so basically Maria is her song for herself and all the other "Maria's" out there. It's basically saying that screw the haters, you're beautiful and you should love yourself.

For "twit": This was her solo debut, and talk about coming out the gates strong... she took south korea by storm with this song (and "maria" too) You were pretty spot on with the interpretations here, esp the oft-missed part where she's blaming herself in the second verse The song is often considered the flip side of wheein's solo debut, "easy" since they could be talking about the same relationship from different points of view (and it doesn't hurt that they cameoed each other in the mvs) The shim cheong mentiined in the lyrics is a korean folktale often called the fileal daughter, about teaching kids (esp girls) that you'll get rewarded for listening to your elders (esp men), so interesting she uses it to mock the guy here. In the story, shim cheong's mother dies giving birth to her and her father goes blind from grief and raises the daughtet alone. When she grows up he hears aboit a way to restore his vision but it costs more than he could ever earn. So his daughter offers herself as a sacrifice a bunch of fishermen are looking for to appease an ocean dragon, in exchange for paying for her father's treatment. The dragon discovers this and makes her an empress instead of sacrificing her, since she only has her father's well- being in mind. When her father hears of this, he's so elated that his vision returns Also, the boyfriend here was played by baek/xion, a dancer who is often one of mamamoo's backup dancers and even choreographers (like he choreogrsphed the queendom "decalcomanie" performance and moonbyul's 'chair dance' in hip, as examples. He also choreoed nearly all of wheein's performance covers she's released. He's one of her closer friends) I don't recognize the other guys, so dunno more about them Also, an interesting thing about this song is it's written from perdonal experience about a relationship hwasa had as a trainee, except she was the one doting on her partner the whole time. So unusual that she portrayed herself as the 'bad guy' in the song and mv She had 100% creative control over this mv, too, going so far as to create the storyboards they shot the video from. This thing is totally her baby

She usually works with Park Woosang on her solo music, he’s one of Mamamoo’s producers, so yes, it also can be the reason all of it carries some similar feels. Every single one of Hwasa’s song and MVs carries her personality and preferences✨ Also, Maria is her baptismal name, so “Maria” is basically a song to herself. That whole mini-album is one of the most beautiful works of art✨ Hwasa (and Park Woosang) has put everything she has in that album, it’s extremely personal to her, her literal blood sweat and tears, and when I was watching behind the scenes and interviews and stuff during that comeback, I felt that with my entire being🤣 That said, I’d love to see your reaction to Hwasa’s “LMM”, it’s the last song on her “Maria” album~ You’ll love it🙌🏻 P.P.S. On "maria": Yes, maria is her catholic name, and she has it tattooed on the back of her name. She is very fond of that name Also, in the lyrics, it's used for wordplay (as dkdk tv explains) since a korean phrase sounds a lot like it The mv has a lot of stuff going on visually, from puns about anonymous keyboard warriors to a life/death theme and so much more Also, it has various references to an italian movie 'malena' that really resonates with her (the film is about a young woman growing up in a small town. All the men lust after and chase after her, all the women hate her because the men show her so much attention. She eventually goes a bit crazy, dyes her hair red, chops it off and moves to the big city. That partially explains the red hair in some scenes of the mv, though itbis also used for the 'vite/life' aspect) And yeah, as others have said, she hurt her back in reheaesals for this song and she wore pain patches throughout promotion. Sometimes those patches were quite obvious (Oddly enough, every member of mamamoo except wheein has hurt her back pretty badly throughout the years, with solar being hospitalized for a while (and writing a song about it), moonbyul taking steroids to continue performing while injured, and hwasa's pain patches here) Also, yeah, this group it's pretty common for your bias to pick you instead of the other way around. But all 3 others are bias wreckers of the highest order

At the beginning of her promotion for Maria Hwasa injured her back so she went through all the live performances in great pain. You can occasionally see the analgesic patch on her back during performances but it did not affect the performances at all. Hwasa's said that I'm a B is about her feeling that she needs to be a bitch in order to protect herself through the process of making her music. Since you didn't watch the Maria there are connections between it and I'm a B. Maria has a "good" ending and I'm a B is the "bad" ending instead. For Maria you really need to watch the MV but Ironically I'm a B's performance video is really stunning on its own. I don't think you caught that she has Moomoo written on her nail. The original title is Excuse you I'm a Bitch. Replacing it with the Korean I'm a bich is just getting around the censors.

Well done with your interpretations. Although I have known of Mamamoo, for several years, it is only this year I have started to watch their MV's and TV appearances, live shows etc. I believe you are more or less correct with your thoughts about these songs from Hwa Sa. What brings me to tears is the abuse and hatred Hwa Sa has received since Mamamoo debuted. What does that say about the media and editors who allow those attacks? I know with Social Media, it is a free for all and asinine, puerile comments are to be expected from many of the sheep who can't think for themselves. How Hwa Sa, has dealt with it over the years makes me well up again. The strength and fortitude required to deal with all that hatred and negativity would finish most people off. I love the clip where she says that she does not meat the Korean beauty standards, so she created a new standard of her own, or something similar.

Picking a bias is what other fan groups do. You are under no obligation to pick with Mamamoo. Because if you do try to pick one of the other members will absolutely wreck you in the next video. We understand. Believe that. Love them all.

Oh! I absolutely love the changsub-solar interactions! Those two are pretty close (and the way they became close is kinda funny, esp with him introducing her to chorong of apink since both girls were so shy) Another awesome duo is moonbyul and sandeul of b1a4 (though he's in military service atm). They're often called the bickering duo, but you can tell just how close they are, esp in the show they were in together, 'in sync' (korean title: 'kissing') Byul was also pretty much a weekly guest on his radio show and even hosted it while he was gone, before getting her own spots as radio dj/host for two different shows, the latter ongoing and quite popular (studio moon night) Wheein and hwasa also have strong friendships with male artists, bit theirs are more soloists outside the kpop scene. Wheein's prob'ly closest with the rapper and singer dindin, while hwasa is quite close with dpr live , but both are also on good terms with many aomg and h1gher artists

On "i'm a b": Like others mentioned, the title is wordplay (she's fond of that in all her songs, including the group songs she took part in) Some aspects of the video remind me a lot of gain's "paradise lost", which isn't a bad thing at all. Both artists tackle similar themes in the songs while also using some similar imagery (some of it christian, painting themselves as bad guys, since women are defaulted to that if they speak up for themselves) Others also explained things quite well, so won't rehash its contrast to "maria"

you always choose dance performance videos instead of the best music video out of three... Maria has the best mv and you didn't react to it. You've done the same in Hip mv too... Also, they dance more in the official mv than in the other music videos. Maybe you just can ask before watching it if it has a good mv or not.
