@elsaelectra9963
@elsaelectra9963 5 месяцев назад
You can't compare problems of one with those of another. You talk about money, but money doesn't buy love and love is what makes the world go round. Plus, to have famous parents while being socially awkward yourself will only make you less and less confident about yourself. Yet atst it gave him a sense of superiority which isn't a good emotion either because it's the other side of inferiority. His emotions therefore went all over the place. And you mention his parents but who says his parents gave him attention or love? It doesn't look like anyone ever told him that if girls don't talk to you, it might mean they are in love with you. The $1000 a month can also be felt like buying your love. Sometimes all people need is a little bit of attention and love. People in the west for example claim that Africa is a poor country but I think the west is poor. When I see videos of Africa I see people dancing and having friends and surrounded by nature often and when I see videos of the west it's often betrayal, racism, people claiming "go away, this is my country" or superficial "beauty" videos. People who think it's an advantage to get $1000 a month are probably rich theirselves, just a little bit less.
@SuperOMARKO

That's a very selfish comment. The one thing (most important) missing was parental guidance and some love, he got neither. He needed help but his parents weren't there for him. I went to the same high schools with him. He used to hangout by where my group used to. I have a few corrections: 1. Elliot had Asperger’s. Our principal made it a point to tell my group of friends so we could try to include him. 2. He changed schools(1st time around) bc in like the first few days he froze in the cafeteria for almost the WHOLE day before anyone really noticed. He just stood there with his eyes all big hugging his backpack for dear life. 3. People didn’t bully him. People didn’t even notice him bc he NEVER spoke. Like ever. Even to the teachers. He would barely make eye contact. If you were a women/girl, the chances were even less. 4. He was SUPER into WoW. He would kill people in the game and camp over their bodies. He thought it was funny to watch them look for their stuff. 5. His mom was nice and pretty hands on. After high school and this happened we were all so shocked. We didn’t know just how much he hated us.

A reminder to us parents… guide, love, give quality time, help them to make friends and let us be a good example to our kids. Don’t let money do the parenting. Let us be responsible because aside from raising a child, our child is our contribution to society… how we raise them will affect the people around them. Be there, answer their questions and ask them “how are you?”. Find happiness on becoming a responsible parent not selfish for own happiness. Sad to see this video… but these makes me appreciate the less fortunate kids (financially) but love their life. Humbled and appreciative of the time they have in this world. His mental illness is that he was a psychopathic-narcissist... true psychopathy is a trip, the lack of empathy can't really be fixed, it's a hard wired neurological problem. Some psychopaths learn to navigate and fake empathy, mimick emotions and all that, but they are always psychopaths. Interestingly, a high number of CEOs and higher ups in corporations are legit psychopaths, it takes someone with no empathy or that can deny their empathy and humanity to reach those positions. I imagine his parents didn't really help the situation much, they just threw money at him. Maybe they did, but who his father was makes it unlikely.

People never see themselves as the problem. It HAS to be everything, anything else other than themselves. It's not just narcissists, it's sociopaths as well. They think they're the main character in this movie we call life. It's kind of like how a-holes don't ever see themselves as such; they justify their behavior as earned, or deserved. Most evil stuff done in history is because the person justified it in their head.

@@Zidbits narcissism is a learned coping mechanism. remember how he was ruthlessly bullied all throughout his entire childhood? when the father was saying he partly wishes his son wasn't born, what i wished on his behalf is that his son could have had a more accepting environment as a child. the issue with narcissism is that while it IS highly treatable (unlike psychopathy), the sufferer has to recognize the behavior and desire help. however as you said one of the symptoms of narcissism is not seeing the repercussions of your actions/self victimizing. it's very much like a drug addiction in that way. no one can make you quit, you have to seek it out for yourself. unlike a drug addiction, it isn't a choice, but a reaction to trauma, usually as a child. it's rather tragic.

Look, I was an angsty teenager too. I grew up being totally rejected by society and treated like garbage. Many of my writings from that time are extremely similar to this kid's. I was angry at the entire world around and at times everyone in it. And you know what? I never hurt anyone. I truly believe that everyone on this earth has commonality in their struggles. But to me, the people who let adversity, in whatever form, become an excuse to indulge violence are trash. Being mad at the world never gives you the right to take it out on innocent beautiful lives. We've all struggled and we all have to find ways to mitigate that struggle, but there's a BIG turning point for those who choose violence as their answer, and they are always wrong. To me, that's what separates man from animal.

I wrote positive messages to myself even while the worst shit was happening in my life. I felt in my soul that life would get better for me. No one and I mean NO ONE pushed him to murder but himself. Honestly, I look at this guy and find him quite pathetic. Complaining about his life because he can’t get a fucking girlfriend? Murdering people because they won’t accept you? I cried because my mom said she would give me a rope to hang myself…I was angry of course but all I’ve done is stop talking to her. I still live with her and I don’t speak to her or even look her way. That exactly was his problem: He knew they didn't know he was even around. Every young man wants to make a place for himself in the world, he wants to be respected and he wants to have friends and a woman to spend his life with. When that doesn't work out, he starts looking for reasons. What he doesn't look for, out of the societal conditioning that men don't show weakness, is help and support. And don't forget that adolescents can be very cruel to anybody who doesn't conform to their social norms. That mixture, combined with his selective mutism and his inability and lack of opportunity to communicate, let him to seek guilt and the reason for his situation in others and ultimately resulted in the tragedy that unfolded. The world can be very cruel to young men indeed, and sometimes it turns them into monsters. What can we do about it? Firstly, we need more help for young men, BY MEN. No young man, especially in a similar situation, is going to trust a woman, and he probably has a lot of valid reasons to not do so (female cruelty). Secondly, Society needs to become less competitive and fixated on money as the only reason and measure for success, and that can only be achieved by lessening the contrast between rich and poor. Thirdly, we need to regulate the access to weapons. They are just tools, but they are meant and built to kill, and that is what they are being used for.

However, as days go by I know I'm one step closer to overcoming it, no matter how hopeless I feel. i grew up with one of the victims christopher martinez from kindergarten all the way through high school. Not only was he just genuinely a great person he was also athletic and very book smart. i have a memory where him and i had detention together during lunch time in elementary school, i clearly remember our punishment was writing out sentences of our reason why we were in detention, i remember our teacher complimenting him on his excellent handwriting skills (seeing we were 9-10 years old at the time) for some reason it's something that's embedded in my brain i will never forget. i even remember the teacher who gave the compliment (Mrs. Hartwell) in school there's always certain crowds, popular kids, geeky kids, athletes, and from my memory chris was accepted by everyone due to his humble nature and kindness towards others. Very caring parents too, i remember them picking him up after school from the after school program. Todays my 30th birthday and chris deserves to be here celebrating his as well. Fun fact, I had the same issues as Elliot growing up, I also had very bad thoughts and I could not for the life of me speak when in a social setting, but with family I could, unless it's indirect family. I also often lock myself in my room, and have very wild day dreams that from a third persons perspective makes me look crazy, my siblings always made fun of that part of me. I'm the odd one out and I'm always alone. The difference is, I chose not to be cruel or inflict others with pain just because I was in pain... In addition, he has wealth, something that he can use to make himself better, I didn't have resources, I couldn't afford mental care, I fixed myself by observing and understanding what's right and what's wrong. I can speak comfortably now, I can make friends, and I've reached a very comfortable position in life. It's a choice, the mental issues and stress in life doesn't lead you to do that... He chose to care more about his own pain than consider the idea that others might be going through the same thing. What he has is not mental disorder, but a bad case of self-loathe. He chose to do that and he should suffer the consequence at it's fullest.

Your remark about his parents is spot on. It is never an excuse, but parental abuse, rejection, abandonment and neglect are enormously traumatizing to any child, and can result in the type of condition, and subsequent destructive rage, Elliot had. It’s a horrible, immensely sad story that should have been prevented. The fact that his parents weren’t aware of what was brewing until way too late, says it all in terms of their failure, because that lack of interest and engagement was apparently their modus operandi. The thing is, they can contain themselves, until they can't and then they either snap and commit horrible crimes or they fall into a blithering mess. First of all, don’t blame yourself… we are like we are. Some people get lucky, born in the right place, the right time, being blessed, others don’t. It could look unfair, but unfortunately a lot of things in life are unfair. But it’s not an end. Being a virgin at 22 y/o isn’t the end of the world contrary to what people say. There’s a lot of people in that situation, also a lot of people are saving themselves for the right person and to only have sex once married. I know, it sounds like a very unpopular thing these days, but a lot of women would actually prefer that too. You only have to find the right one… and it will happen when you’re not focusing on that. Instead, just focus on trying to improve your social anxiety, not to find a woman, not to get more money, but to be more at peace with yourself and the society. It’s never easy to fit in… Maybe try to talk to someone, it could be a friend, or a complete stranger (shrink maybe?), it might help to find a way to counter your anxiety and get a better life, being able to talk more easily to others, and then your life will improve, maybe get a better job, more opportunities to meet new people and hopefully meet your future wife. You’re only 22 y/o, you’re still young… trust me, I’m near 50, there’s plenty to live. Don’t blame anyone, not even yourself, just confront your anxiety and find a way to surmount them. Get some help if you cannot find a way… there’s no shame to ask for help. Mental illness is serious, regardless if we have phobies, anxiety, depression, or else. It happens. Every single human on earth will face some kind of mental illness, at least once in his/her lifetime. Sometimes we find a way to solve the problem by ourselves and it’s gone… and sometimes we can’t, and it’s ok, in those situations, we just ask for help to professionals. There’s nothing to be shame to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist. It can help; so there’s no reason to keep suffering in silence; be brave, be bold, be courageous to ask for help and get better. That’s all the best I can wish you for. Cheers
